Hitting Bottom Before Rising Again, Slow Moving Day, Laundry, Puzzle

On Tuesday, Jan. 2nd it was another slow awakening, especially on my part. I had no excuse other than the dregs of this cold, since I had gone to bed last night at 10 or was it sooner? Anyway, truly feeling the effects, I didn’t get up until 8:30 and then opened the blinds and went straight to the couch and laid down again. Bill wasn’t too far behind me, we were both still dragging. I was awake a lot through the night coughing and now my upper rib cage is sore. I forgot to rub my feet with Vicks but tonight for sure!!

Bill snapped this picture of the Camp Host's truck
He made our morning drinks and I sat in the recliner with my laptop to read yesterday’s posts and comments. No walks today, I didn’t have it in me. I won’t bore you with all the details but I can tell you that even our pooch was feeling bad. He and I sat outside for about an hour this morning but I didn’t read too much because of my headache. His tummy was doing a lot of gurgling too.

I’m kind of following Bill’s footsteps with this cold since he is a couple days ahead of me. What he is feeling now, I believe I’ll feel on Thursday. I know 2 days ago, he had a rough day and that is what I’m experiencing today. My feet are on the right side of the sand though so that is a good thing.

I wasn't too hungry for breakfast so Bill brought me some toast
while I was outside with Clemson
I had hopes to dust the Suite today, (which I didn’t) Bill was going to vacuum (which he did) and we both wanted to get our sheets and the small amount of dirty clothes washed. (which we did). However, it wasn’t until 2:15 that I was ready to go up with Bill to start it. It gave me an opportunity to work on the jigsaw puzzle, which won’t be finished before I leave now. Darn! I’ve tried so hard!
My little cuddle-bum and nurse
With the clothes put away and the bed remade, Bill lit the barbecue. We were hungry early but still not up to a large meal. Maybe eating it we could have managed but preparing and cooking it, not so much. So, hot dogs it is. The all-beef wieners looked good and tasted quite yummy! We didn’t have hot dog buns, so split them and cut them in half. I guess we’ll call them burger dogs.

Hot Dog! that's my sweetie making hot dogs!
Soon after cleaning up dishes, I got the push on to finish my post. The back of my neck was throbbing. I just wanted to lay back down on the couch, the way I started out this day. For information sake, this has been a fabulous day out there. It got to 80F with a slight breeze and full sun. I really wish I had felt like a final swim in the pool and hot tub. Oh well, it wasn’t in the cards for me today.

I hope you have enjoyed your day. I think we are on the mend here in the Richards’ household and I thank you for all of your previous wishes to get better. It is just a cold.

Thank you for stopping in. If you wish to leave a comment, I’d love to read it.

  2. Hope your feeling better soon. Sounds like Bill is getting better bit by bit. Some rice is always good when you aren't feeling well. It's easy to prepare and you can add just about anything to it to jazz it up. I've heard about the Vicks thing as well. Perhaps some honey lemon tea might hit the right spot too.

    1. Thank you for the tips Deb. I never thought of rice, didn't do much thinking about food prep at all. I always have honey in the Suite but never the lemons! duh!
      thanks!

    2. I used to buy a Honey/Lemon tea in a box, just like you'd buy regular tea bags.

  3. We knew you were not well today when we did not see you outside much and no walkabouts. Thought I was getting your cold, but I feel brand new again! Lucky me.
Hope you get things taken care of and both feel better tomorrow if not? Maybe relax some more before you hit the road.

  5. I also meant to question, is that a good book you are reading by the toast? I can spot a book a mile away, you know me. ;)

    1. If you rub Vicks on the bottom of your feet and wear socks to bed, it prevents overnight coughing. Last night I only coughed about 3 times compared to the previous night about 20.

  7. Sorry to read you are both still not feeling 100%. The coughing is the worst. I sometimes hold a pillow on my ribs when the coughing persists it does help a little. I have to ask because I am curious...Vicks on your feet?
Safe Travels as you move on.

    1. Yes, the Vicks on the bottom of your feet, then wear socks to bed prevents coughing through the night. It worked last night!
And yes my ribs are tender each time. Never thought of a pillow but press my hands on instead. :)

  8. Sorry to hear that it was another bummer day but resting is just what you need. I know it's tough, but you just have to listen to your body sometimes. Gotta say the hot dogs looked awesome! Take care and travel safe!

  10. Ditto to all the good wishes for speedy recovery. At least be grateful you are suffering in lovely weather with beautiful sunshine ;-) Looking at Bill BBQing wearing only shorts, you should have seen Benno a couple of days ago in our garage BBQing our supper all bundled up! Take care, all the best.

    1. Thank you and absolutely! That is indeed a blessing!
I can imagine that there are many die-hards back home who still like to bbq in the winter. We never did that so it shows what wimps we are! ha ha

  11. We sure appreciate feeling good after a few days of sickness, eh? We have still avoided the bugs but I think the -20c Temps are killing everything off before it spreads? Glad you are on the mend sis.
