Cloudy Forecast, Introducing Yuma, Puzzled, Tripping

I was awakened at 5 and 5:30 on Saturday, Jan. 5th when Clemson had to go out and then basically rested until 6:45 when he got up again. It was time for me to get up anyway. I got dressed and when he went back upstairs I lifted him up with Bill. It was still dark but I opened some blinds anyway and sat at the laptop for awhile reading. The temperature was reading 47F which is warmer than it has been this early and the wind speed was 2 mph so not as much layering required.

No moon this morning but a beautiful cloudy sky instead
I met Dorothy who commented that she loved Freddy’s pictures so nice move, Loree. I also met Marlene as she walked the short distance to the clubhouse to make use of their wifi. I’m glad someone is making use of it since it is offered up there. Back home, I made my tea and at 8 I heard Bill getting up. Good thing, I was about to wake him otherwise. We had plans for 9 am so needed to get things going. We just had tea and coffee along with some toast and jam for a quick bite.

Such a pretty sky

Bill drove Black Beauty around to pick Marlene and Benno up and we took them into Yuma to show them where a few key stores are. Benno made some notes and is good at remembering locations so they can now go on their own and do what they need to do when they need to do it.

A cute picture of Marlene this morning as she walked to the clubhouse
We stopped at Fry’s so Marlene could register for her loyalty card and then popped in to Harbor Freight to appease Benno. His eyes were that of a child, just typical of most guys. Well, some gals too.

Looks like this Voltage is on fire
It is just the red sky reflection
Before heading home, we stopped at Hobby Lobby so Bill could check for plastic models to build. He’s feeling the need to find things to do with his hands while he is away from his hobby at home. Methinks he misses the hangar already! 😊 Even though online the H.L. website was unable to show any models, they had a whole aisle of them. We both searched and eventually found the one he wanted. He bought the paints required and it was a bonus to get 40% off the large item today from the app on my phone. Bingo!

Benno was happy to 'just pop in here'
Returning home at 11, it was the first time EVER that we’ve come through the Inspection Station when no one was in the booths. For a Saturday, we found that odd. I made us each a coffee and then at 11:30 a nice egg sandwich for lunch. Rob and Pat had gone on their own into town as well this morning to do some running around. I rode my bike up to the puzzle room to find 2 other ladies in there working on a new puzzle. The one Pat and I were working on was moved over to the side.

I hated to leave it when I did, because I'd done so much on it today
and it will likely be finished by someone else tomorrow
I pulled up a chair and started on it. It was kind of silly to me to have 2 – 1000 pc. puzzles going on that small table but the one lady seemed just the type to want to be ‘in control’. She didn't want anything to do with 'ours'. No worries, I was happy to carry on with where we left off. An hour or so later, when they left, I fully intended to finish it before I went home. It was around 1:30 when a lady I’ve seen a lot in the park stuck her head in to return a book.

Ken and Nancy have a nice set up
She let me know that there were a few spatters of rain on her way up although it had stopped again. Good to know and I decided then and there that I would be leaving the puzzle unfinished. I didn't want to get caught in a downpour. I returned to our site 15 minutes later and made Bill and I a tea. Perfect day for a tea. It isn’t exactly warm today but it isn’t cold either. 55F for the most part and mainly just damp with no wind to speak of. Not a bad day, really, just an inside one.

I sat with my tea in my recliner working on my corking and around 3, Rob and Pat returned from shopping and then joined us with their tea. We chatted about our trip home after March 1st and made some tentative plans and some firm ones. It was just after 4:30 when they left and Bill and I chatted for a while longer about the route before lighting the Weber to grill steak and potatoes for supper. I saw Nancy outside the window so opened the door. She was walking Molly and just stopped to say hi.

Molly: "Will you play with me?"
Clemson just kept backing up
We chatted for a while before she wandered back home to their site. Clemson wasn’t sure what to think about cute little Molly but had to go out and check her out. His little tail was just a-wagging as they danced around each other. They could be such good buddies if he wasn’t such a snobby little boy.  Our supper was wonderful! We don’t always have success with steak, especially thick steak as these were. We were actually able to share one large one and it was quite enough with a salad and half a potato. It was perfect and delicious!

Yummy!
After dishes, I finished my post and sat and did some more corking. I’m enjoying working on it right now as I can watch tv, carry on a conversation and relax at the same time. This has been a good day but I don't think we received the 25% precipitation that was forecast. I hope you enjoyed your day as well.

One last morning shot
Thanks for the visit!

  1. You scared me twice in todays post. In your title you mentioned "tripping" and I immediately had to scan your post to see who fell! Glad you were not talking about that kind of trip and everyone is ok! And the second scare was when I read about you planning your "trip" home. Please don't tell me we have to think of heading north yet!! Have fun where you are.

    1. Ha ha, sorry 'bout that! You could have thought about us 'tripping the light fantastic' or however that goes or 'tripping' with the legalized weed too, which is what I was thinking. :O
It is inevitable that we have to plan, the Cdn $ is hurting so we need to think about what we can and can't do. LOL

  2. Thank you guys again for the introduction tour into Yuma. You are so knowledgeable about the area and afterwards Benno had all the important sites mapped out in his head. (I'm so glad he's doing the driving) Yuma is a busy city and there is so much to see. We enjoyed our time with you yesterday at happy hour too and it was such a nice and warm day to sit outside in the sunshine to chat. You are wonderful friends, thanks.

    1. You are very welcome! Good thing I'm not your tour guide, you'd be lost!
Yuma is a nice city, we do enjoy having it close. It is so nice to have you close for a while to get to know you better and build on the friendship. Thank you!

  3. Nice that you could play tour guides for Marlene and Benno. The weather of course about the same here as well. Was wonderful to get some inside things taken care of for a change. The weather will keep on doing what it does best mostly sunshine and no heavy rains. Oh yeah and no snow .

    1. At least the days are warm even when it rains and nothing heavy for sure. We enjoy our days no matter what, don't we?

  4. I just LOVE those red Arizona skies. Raining here too. I spent the afternoon clearing out stuff. I actually have room on my counters now, so the rain is at least good for something!

    1. Me too! They are so beautiful even in reflections.
I actually goofed off yesterday afternoon and just did my 'play' stuff instead of finding 'chores' but it is good to have days like that.

  5. You got some great sunrise/sunset pictures today. It's funny we rarely see anyone in that inspection booth when we go through.

  6. Sunrise is so beautiful with the clouds and the colors! People are funny aren't they, like the lady with the puzzle..wouldn't it make sense to finish one and then start another?! Nice that you could show your friends around town and enjoy some time together. Glad Bill got something to keep him occupied :) Dinner looks amazing! Love the way your baked potato looks..yum!

Glad that Dorothy likes the pictures and thanks again for delivering them. It's nice that Clemson has a tiny little friend.

  8. Fantastic pictures, thanks for sharing. Clemson is so cute. What a 'fraidy cat.
Like Lorne I thought someone had fallen, glad that wasn't the case. Harbor Freight is one of my favourite stores. Reminds me of Princess Auto back home in Ontario.
Very nice of you and Bill to do the touring with your friends, it's always helpful when someone can show you where to go.
    Enjoy!!!

  9. We have had a few 'warm to us days' hovering around +5 with sunshine. A hint of spring I guess. Most of the snow is gone here in Hanover but the Ridge has no green showing through at all. It will cool down to -9 tonight but back up to +3 the middle of next week! Not bad for the North in early January. Nice sunset picture sis. I'm sitting in my 121C sauna while I type this so can close my eyes and picture sand and beaches...with only the electricity expense....
    very low cost :-$.

    1. Ha ha, well we don't have the beaches here but we do have sand and the heat. Cool nights and early mornings but we don't mind. You have had some nice winter weather, hope you don't pay for it in March!
