We Had a Fun Outing!

 The Ridge

On Monday, June 2nd Bill left for work around 6:30. Gibbs and I went back to sleep until 7 o'clock. I had my tea, yogourt and the last banana. Oooh, soft and mushy. I should have blended them together. I was blown away (and too slow) when I looked out the window and saw our first bright red Cardinal this year in the tree. I couldn't grab my phone quick enough and he was gone. πŸ˜–

Good morning!
Our shrub cover worked perfectly for
my planters

The sky was clear blue and today's forecasted promise was a warm, sunny day. We started out around 4C/39F and it was an upward crawl from there. I got washed and dressed before Gibbs and I went out to uncover my vegetable plants. They were fine and it was probably unnecessary but better to be safe than sorry.

I cut three clementines
for the Orioles.
I tried putting two in the
suet feeder to see if that works.

Bill had taken the garbage and one recycle bin down so at a couple of minutes before 10, I took the cardboard bin down too. The contents had gotten wet from the rains so it was not burnable. I drove next door to Dot's and off we went into town to pick Pat up. A girl's 'day' out!

Lo and behold!
There he is and it works like a charm!
It's hard to see him but he is feeding
on the orange. ♥

There was nothing concrete in our plans but we headed first to Giant Tiger. We all agreed that senior's day was worth a stop-by. πŸ˜€ Dot is the young'un of the three of us, by quite a number of years, but we managed to get her the same discount as the two of us. We all found something after an hour in the store! We love Giant Tiger!

Next door was Dollarama so of course we had to walk through that menagerie of items. Again, about an hour later, we met back at Ptooties. Our tummies were grumbling, it was 12:45 so we walked next door from there to a fairly new restaurant called Stacked. I'd been there once before and Dot, once or twice, and Pat a few more times than that, I think.

Look at the size of these burgers!
They had fun eating them. Neither
were able to finish them at this sitting. 😊
Leftovers!

The ladies ordered the mushroom burger meal and we all laughed at the size of them. I ordered a peameal eggs benedict with home fries. We were all very hungry. I cleaned my plate, which was a lot and yet proof of that! I doubt I'll need supper or much of it at least. We walked out and saw Pat's daughter, Sandra, in the parking lot so said hello to her. 😍

My peameal Benedict.
Oh yum!!

I was hoping to get a picture of the 3 (Musketeers, Stooges?) so Sandra obliged for us. One last stop at Canadian Tire to pick up my 4 hanging planters for $12.99 each and we scooted for home. I'll show you my plants in tomorrow's blog, if I remember. πŸ˜‚

There we are, smiling faces.
Dot names us the Golden Girls
when I sent her the pictures. ♥

After dropping Pat off with Bella πŸ• I took Dot home to Caper, Trigger and Remy πŸ•πŸ•πŸ•and then myself to Gibbs. πŸ• It was a great time together, one that we hope to repeat.

This is my little greeter.
He'll look different tomorrow,
haircut time!

Bill was home by 4, within 30 minutes of my return, and we all had a snooze. My leg had bothered me off and on so I just felt a rest was in order. We were up shortly after 5 and we made fries and breaded shrimp for Bill's supper. I truly was not hungry.

The sun is a different colour
in the sky tonight.
Kind of pretty behind the clouds.

After clean up, we walked down so he could hang our Mexican painted metal sign at the gate.

I'm hoping the plants don't grow quite
as tall this summer to cover our signs. πŸ˜‰

I thought the black flies were done, Bill thought the chorus frogs were done but we were both wrong.

Walking back up the lane,
I was inspired by the sun's reflection
on the ponds surface.

He went to the Hangar and my puppy dog and I came inside for the evening. Today, we reached a wonderful high of 21C/70F so I think we are in the clear. As I was reading a blog from May 31/2024 these are few things I said, indicating this years' weather is not so unusual:

It was a chilly enough morning, 8C/47F, but at least not cold enough for any frost. I did cover my plants last night as a precaution.

Tonight, will be the last cool night, and then we’re on the home stretch – again. We take it as it comes and it is always a topic of conversation. LOL

Strange weather but I guess to be expected with the highs, then lows, rain, then more highs and lows.

It was a good day, although on the cool side, only 15C/60F and a cooler one tomorrow.

And then this:

On Sunday, June 30th we woke up to another dreary day. It was a misty rain from the time we got up for most of the day. Even though the forecast said only a 1% chance of precipitation, that misty dampness hung around. The temperature started out around 10C/51F and rose to an amazing high of 13C/55F by 5 o’clock. Reminder to self: This is summer. Wow!  At least tomorrow promises to be sunny and warm.

Curled up in Daddy's chair
Good night!

Thank you for popping by today.

I hope so, maybe we won't have to leave Canada as early and stay later in the spring. Hmmm

  2. Time with friends is always a treat! Your meals look pretty spectacular.
Rain would be welcomed here, and the smoke appears to heading back in. I suspect that is what coloured your sun too.

I agree, the sun is from the smoke.
