Laundry Day, Plans Changed, Some Quilling

The Ridge

On Saturday, Aug. 16th it was laundry day so since we sorted the clothes last night, we were up around 6:30 and I was on my way before 7. Bill was having breakfast and going flying with the guys. Gibbs was going to look after the house.

Good morning!

Today, I wasn't alone. 4 customers arrived during the time I was there so it took a bit longer. I finished filling our basket with the damp clothes and left for home. Gibbs came out to help me hang them on the line. Already, it is quite warm.

Traffic on Baptist Church Road
was terrible! And he took his time too.

We keep saying that this is the last hot day.........but this time we'll just wait and see if the forecast is true. Robin messaged that the Williamsford guests had checked out early so I left at 9:30 to head over.

Gibbs helped hang the clothes and
then waited in the shade for me.

She had set up her garage sale so I stopped briefly on my way and picked up a mat for the bnb. With one stop at Foodland for fresh flowers for her guests, I arrived around 10:30 and left at noonish.

The flowers made a nice
picture on the table in
the bnb kitchen.

When I came through Durham, the town was crazy. Sunfest was on at Riverside Park and that meant lots of people, classic cars and bouncy events for the kids. I found a parking spot at the gas station and took a short walk through the chaos. 😄

Lots of beautiful old cars
I love the black Chevelle SS

It was quite a display.

When I got home Bill and Gibbs were inside, in the cool of the a/c. I made my sandwich for lunch and while the boys slept, I went out to the Bunky and 'created'. Today, it was bookmarks. I wanted to make one for Robin since she and I have been talking Janet Evanovich.

This Giant Swallowtail butterfly
was hurt and could not fly.
How helpless I felt watching him flutter
on the ground. 😞

Bill went to the Hangar for a while, keeping an eye on the sky. We were told of some rain around 3....and after about 100 drops, the sky cleared.

Look at this display of affection.
💕

I had to water my wilting tomato and pepper plants but was happy to see a non-producing tomato plant has new flowers! Hmm, I wonder.

When I walked to check my plants,
a bee/wasp (I didn't see it) flew at me
and stung me. Bill ran and grabbed 2
pennies to place on them.
Within 3 minutes, the painful sting
had subsided.

For supper, Bill grilled burgers and they were just as good as ever. In case you wondered when seeing my pictures of Gibbs in a jacket. Well, I put coconut oil on a spot he keeps scratching and put his thunder coat on last night. He hasn't scratched since. He doesn't mind it at all. 💗

Gibbs sat with me for a while at my
quilling table. Such a big help.

If you recall something I've written in
my post about Robin, you'll know which
bookmark is hers.
I love them and once I add strings, I will make more.

The air was still after supper and now the rain looks like it may arrive around midnight or later. I hope it is adequate for watering and that the air cools down as promised. A cooler day tomorrow, they say. We did have a good day.

As I closed the Bunky doors, this
little fellow fell on my arm.
It was years ago when I first saw one
around our hand pump.
He didn't want to leave my hand. 💓

We were signed up to volunteer for the Lion's Club tonight at the ball tournament but it was cancelled. We weren't broken-hearted, and that made for a relaxing evening.

A loaded burger for supper.
Good night!

Thank you for stopping by.

  1. Her name is Robin. Have you tried to make any robins? She might really like those.

  2. Love the blue bird bookmarks!!! What a difference adding just a small vase of flowers to a table. Those wasps ... they are FAST and MEAN!!

  3. Love the flowers on the table makes a difference. The table is the same size as mine and I find if I put 2 chairs on each side leaving the ends open it makes the kitchen look bigger. Just my thoughts. Love your blog.

    1. The old table is awesome in itself but she often has 4 guests at the bnb. It just makes sense.
      Thanks though.

  4. The various photos you've shared over time of the BnB are lovely. I can see why it is very popular. The flowers were definitely a welcoming touch.
I had no idea that pennies would help with a bee sting. Today I learned something. :)

  5. The teachers used the penny thing on stings at school. I just rub some plantain salve on any Harvey manages to get.
    I love the bookmarks.

    God bless.
