New Surroundings, New View, New Neighbours, Quiet Day

Wednesday, Feb. 22nd at Pilot Knob RV Resort, Winterhaven, California
Okay, we seldom sleep with the windows open, we know many/most people do. We keep the heat in as long as possible and Bill isn’t kept awake by outside noises. I would prefer to have a bit of fresh air when it is a warm evening but then I wear ear plugs and don’t hear the traffic or the birds.

Last night, we closed the windows in our Suite at bedtime with the exception of the one by my pillow. I offered to close it if it was too noisy but we were both tired enough that it wasn’t necessary. I can’t believe we slept in until after 7! I got up first to see what kind of a sunrise I’d see and captured one over the fence. I’d give it a 5 out of 10 which means room for improvement.
And the tree was in my way!
It was a mild 61F first thing and 69F inside the Suite. The wispy clouds are moving across the sky so it is hard to know what kind of day it will be. Bill, George and Rob have planned an outing to the Cloud Museum in Yuma. He can tell you all about that in his post. I wasn’t there so can’t report on that.

Naturally, we love each other’s company but it is also nice to have a break from each other. It is good for everyone once in awhile and I look forward to a quiet few hours to myself as much as he enjoys getting out with the guys.

When finishing reading blog posts and having our coffee, George from Our Awesome Travels dropped over with 2 books, a dvd to watch and the flyers from Albertson’s and Fry’s. George is an early morning shopper and heads into Yuma every few days to pick up the specials. We appreciate him dropping them around.

After Bill left with Rob and George I took a walk up to the Library and picked up a couple of books. They have a great selection up here and since Rob brought a couple over too, we have a lot of reading to do!  I managed to put a couple of pieces of the ongoing jigsaw puzzle in as well but it was too nice outside to stick around in a building.

I reminded myself of the price to do laundry and popped into the office to get enough quarters. On my way back I strolled around the park at a nice leisurely pace. Clemson and I hopped into the truck and drove up to the Chevron store at the corner. I was hoping they might have a litre of coffee creamer. Nope.

The clouds never did move out of the way until later in the afternoon and by that time it was Happy Hour at Bill and Barb’s.

It was nice to get together with everyone again and somehow we always get into some real good laughter. Even Dennis and Sandi stopped in for a bit as they were walking by. It is always a good time and at 5 we all went our separate ways to start dinner.

Bill has a pork chop to barbecue and I have a stuffed breaded chicken breast to cook up for supper. No greens for salad tonight so we will have a baked potato for a change. I hope Bill can get some lettuce and creamer tomorrow, a couple of our mainstays.

Last night we experienced the same thing here when we turned the television as we did when parked next to Oscar and Judy in Ridgeview Park in November. Even though we had a good satellite connection, no sooner did we get into our program and the channels started bumping all over the place. How infuriating!
Satellite interference from next door
Today we noticed that our neighbor within 20’ to the north of us has a Shaw Direct dish as well and that has to be the issue. Bill was on the ball though and suggested we move up into the bedroom to watch our shows up there. That did the trick as there is no antennae to that tv, therefore no interference.

The winds picked up this afternoon as the sky cleared out. Looks like a lovely evening, still 75F at 5:30. Tonight we like to watch Hunted so need to get supper on the go so we can watch it at 6.

I hope you’ve had a great day. Thank you for following along and please feel free to comment.

    1. Glad you got it, MB. :) We are indeed enjoying this adventure. We heard that you are getting some amazing temps. We are only a bit warmer at 25C today.

  2. Framing the Sun in the bush turned out great. Most times Framing is done with an object next to the point of interest but that almost gives it a floral effect.
    Be Safe and Enjoy!

    It's about time.

    1. Thank you, the framing was not at all planned, but I do like the effect all the same. :)

  5. Loved that first picture with the sun peeking through the trees. That Cloud Museum is well worth the $5. I loved it, but I'm a car buff. Looks like you had a nice day in the desert.

    1. Hi Sue, sorry didn't go back to this post until now. Yes, we enjoy it however it is the type where they are almost at the end of the season. I think only one more show in this season. So other than getting a taste of it and starting fresh with the new season you might not get as much out of it. they are down to 3 couples out of 9 but it gets your heart pumping for sure and your mind questioning how far we would get.
