Weather Change, Walkabout, Park Spiffed Up, Shopping, Pool

I was awake at 6 on Monday, Nov. 27th but remained in bed until 6:30. The sky to the east showed low horizon clouds but I caught a lovely beginning sunrise this morning.

No enhancements here, just a natural Bullhead City sunrise
The western sky and mountains were also basking waiting for it to pop. As I was getting my shoes on, Clemson and Bill came downstairs so I let Clemmy out and in and then went for a walk around the park. Yup, almost like I remember it. But better.

Our spot

Love the reflection of the pink sky
I say better because every roadway throughout the park is new pavement, the laundromat is now 24-hour and it has a change machine. The pool is heated, as I’ve already told you and tested, the shuffleboard play area is cleaned off (in the spring, you couldn’t see it for debris) probably ready to be painted and the huge wash down the centre is cleaned out. What a bonus to walk through there now with no brush, weeds, garbage or stones.

When I got back Bill and I had our tea/coffee together and I ate a banana while he had a bowl of cereal. By 9 we were on our way into the city for Coke, buns and to look for a couple of lightweight but good folding patio chairs. You’d think that would be an easy task but it turns out that it is not. We searched in Lake Havasu’s Walmart, Ace Hardware, Lowe’s and Home Depot with no luck.

the wash is debris-free and easy to walk in
Today, after doing the rounds again, we ended up at Walmart and agreed on two chairs for under $20 each. They won’t get used a lot but the price was right and now we have places for our company to sit. We visited the Bank of America for a withdrawal and donated to Home Depot, Smith’s and Walmart before we headed back home. I fried up a couple of eggs with cut up bacon, celery and onion before adding cheddar.

With breathing space in between
We were hungry and had a hankering for a toasted western. We love these Ball Park Gourmet Tailgate Buns and we didn’t need to utilize the tailgate, just the toaster. After dishes, Bill did the banking from this morning’s transactions and I recorded our expenditures in my logbook and filled out a couple of surveys from the receipts. At Circle K Bill used our Fry’s card and got .10c off his diesel. Bonus! $2.34/gal. Maybe I can keep the luck running and win a gift card.

Looking across at Laughlin, Nevada
The temperature today was cooler by about 10 degrees and the sun wasn’t too prominent for the early part of the morning. We put the awning and sunshade out for a while and I took Clemson for a walk. After his business of making acquaintances with the palm trees, garbage dumpsters and whatever else was in his piddle and sniffing path I dropped him off and went up to the clubhouse.

I knew that Bill would probably read for a bit and the two of them would have a snooze. I went to check out the books, again, because I knew I’d seen a couple more James Rollins on the shelf. I didn’t know if they were stories with Tucker and Kane but I knew they’d be good ones. Oh, there’s a new James Patterson as well. Then I wandered into the main hall where someone was beginning to put the Christmas tree up.

There was a jigsaw puzzle on the table with approximately 75 pieces left to put in. I was determined and the lady encouraged me to finish it. So! It took me about 30 minutes and I can now say that I was able to put the LAST piece in. I walked across the hall and snapped a picture of our Suite over there through the window. As I was walking out one of the gals came running out to tell me where to find a ‘ton of puzzles’ and to make myself at home starting a new one.

Another view across into Nevada
I walked back to the Suite and decided on the spur of the moment that I was going up for a swim. No one was there earlier and I didn’t know how the water would be in the strong winds. It was 2:45 and I told Bill I’d be back for Happy Hour, just later than 3. At the pool, I wasted no time getting in. It felt good and I swam around the perimeter a couple of times before hopping into the hot tub. Soon, I was on my chair reading my book.
From the clubhouse window you can see our Suite
and Black Beauty
Two ladies came in while I was there and both had just arrived in the park. They both were from Vancouver area. More and more Canadians! Love it. Most still do the jaw drop when we say we are full-timing because they are meeting more and more doing that. It is an interesting lifestyle and I can’t wait to share it with my sister, show her what we love about it. I walked back home around 3:30 and the wind was so strong that I had a fantastic tail wind. I had to hold my ball cap on!

I love these bushes around the pool/clubhouse wall
Bill had the awnings in, the sun shade down and both chairs and our sign had fallen down. Powerful gusts up to 45 mph. We went over to Oscar and Judy’s for Happy Hour just as they were deciding to move inside. The wind was making it uncomfortable to sit and to hear each other. Again, don’t cancel happy hour, just move inside. We are flexible that way. We told more stories and had a lot of laughs.
and for the second day in a row
my day was made by these little fellas
Lori has generously offered to keep an eye on Clemson tomorrow and make sure he gets his supper at the important time of 3 o’clock. We decided that he would probably be happiest in the Suite and we’ll give her a key to lock it if she wants to go away. He is perfectly fine but we could be late. Leaving the house at 10:30 MT to meet my sister’s flight at 12 noon PT and touring Las Vegas a bit, it could be 5 or 6 before we get home. Thank you, Lori. We appreciate it and you.

Hurry, hurry, hurry
I think that is what they're saying
Bill lit the barbecue and grilled our last thawed burger while I made up a salad inside. I had one serving of leftover spaghetti and sauce in the fridge so that would be my supper. It was quite good and the fridge is starting to look pretty empty. I’m getting excited for Donna and Gerry to arrive and I think they are feeling the same. With dishes done, we called them. They are in Toronto for an overnight motel stay so they can be at the airport for 8 am.

We weren't the only ones noticing this dripping tap next door
I wrote my post and watched The Voice with Bill. During commercials, Bill got the vacuum out and did a thorough sweep through the Suite. After having the windows open this afternoon, I definitely need to do a dust-through. The sand sure gets in when it is gusty like that.

The wind has died down but is supposed to increase again tomorrow. We’ll deal with what comes. We have had a wonderful day.

Thank you for sticking your head in for a read today. Your comments are important to me.

  4. Those Gambel's Quail are really cute! I've never seen one, but had to write a paper on it in a biology course once!

    1. Thanks FG. I forget their full name. Gambel, I'll try and remember. I love them, my favourite thing down here besides the heat. :)
