Spring is Here! Casino Rama with Friends

We are home: The Ridge, Durham, Ontario
Some of my pictures were compliments of Bill and Pat Aljoe
On Saturday, Apr. 22nd I got up just before 7 to find Bill up and out of the Suite. I was sure I heard him in and out a few times so knew he would capture the sunrise for me. It felt cold out of the sheets and my legs even felt chilly under the sheets. We are only using our Blue Flame propane heater and since it got down to -6/21F Friday night, it wasn’t quite enough to warm it past 58F.

She was a frosty morning at -6

Bill walked out to the road and caught this beautiful picture
I bundled, combed my hair and we had our tea and coffee together. Catching up with our ‘snowbird’ friends is a nice way to start the day. From there the day took off like lightning. We had bacon and eggs early and by 8:45 we were out in the truck. It was 30 minutes later when we finally pulled out of the drive. Our back tires do NOT like the snowy/icy mix that they are sitting on. With a little ingenuity on Bill’s part, we managed to get out, leaving a little burned rubber behind.

Our new genny works like a charm, quietly

good morning, geese!

Before we left Durham, I ran into the I.D.A. pharmacy to pick up my prescription that my dr. had called in for me. We drove to Hanover and stopped at Walmart first to pick up some Ice Salt. In April!!! Then we drove to McArthur Good Year Tire and Bill made an appointment to get 4 new Hankook’s on Wednesday afternoon. They seem to have no problem getting them, with hundreds in their supplier warehouse. Yay!

Next, we drove to Donna and Gerry’s home to pick up our mail and pay them a nice visit. Another sister arrived from Montreal on Friday for our gathering on Sunday so it was nice to visit with Audrey and Tom as well.

Can you see him mixed in there?
Donna and Gerry's stately home
By 11:30 we headed out to Murrays farm where Ptooties is stored. She was sitting there waiting for me. Noisy exhaust and all, we proudly scooted home. We rested, we ate lunch, we showered and went for a couple of walks up the lane to visualize the melting process.

Sweet Ptooties waits

Baptist Church Road

We fed Clemson early, around 2:45 today. Now, we’re really messing him up! Rob and Pat drove up at 3 as promised. We were invited to join them to see Rick Thomas, The Illusionist, at Casino Rama in Orillia. This was a real treat and we had  a fun visit on the drive. The weather was a balmy 6C/42F with full sun all day so great for the drive to and from. Soon after we were inside, we met up with Sandra and Bill, their daughter. Hugs all around, Sandra always looks so happy. It is infectious.

A little grass showing by the end of the day

'Our turbines"

On Saturday, this is the gravel we saw at the bunky
Bill and I got our Player’s Cards plus $10 free play before we walked to the Yard House for supper. The place was packed so we had to split tables, which was okay since we’d been visiting all the way down. I stepped, willingly, off the keto/paleo wagon briefly, and fully enjoyed my Reuben Sandwich, pickle and sweet potato fries. Fully! Bill enjoyed his Beer Battered Fish and Chips. The prices were very reasonable and we walked out with full tummies for under $40.

Our only winter damage

On the way to Orillia, we saw a few of these huge eagle/hawk nests
Our seats were on Row 11 up on the rise of the Entertainment Centre but even though we could see the stage quite well, there was a huge projection screen in front of us. What an awesome show! Rick Thomas is truly an entertainer and knows how to hold the crowd in the palm of his hand. Thanks Rob and Pat, this is a real treat. We hit the washrooms and said goodbye to Sandra and Bill before heading home.

Thanks Rob and Pat
This is our first time here

It was 11:35 when we stepped inside the Suite. Clemson has been left alone for a very long time and had probably given up on us. There was a wee accident indicating that his bladder is not as young as it used to be so he was hesitant to come down off the bed. We’ve never chastised him for accidents because they are most often our fault or because he is not feeling well. He is such a good boy and quickly went out for one more midnight piddle.

Table for two (thanks Rob for the picture)

Oh my goodness!

This was jam-packed awesome delicious

Love the swimming fish in the overhead display
It wasn’t long and we were in bed, fast asleep. What a great day! I hope yours was fulfilling as well wherever you are. PS - our free $10 went in a blink but we had 10 minutes of fun!
Home again

Hope your snow disappears soon so you can get the rig placed in its final spot for the summer. Sure is pretty there.
We're supposed to get to the high teens and even 20C this week in Alberta. Our snow is all but gone.....or will be.
