I was awake and up out of bed on
Tuesday, Jan. 1st, 2019 at 6:30. I don’t know why I was felt so wide
awake as it was 11:30 AZ time last night when we crawled into bed. There was
tossing and turning involved too so likely closer to midnight before I actually
dropped off to sleep. Happy New Year, Sweetie, I love you being the last words
spoken between us. Hey! We could have switched over to Pacific Time and celebrated the
arrival again. It's a new year! What is it going to bring?
I should have known from looking at this low bank of clouds to the south that the day would be a cold one |
It was a cool windy start to the day
but not below 46F so I’m not complaining. By the time I finished my ‘eve’ post,
Bill was up and it remained dark outside until closer to 7:15. So we sat together for a few minutes. I
bundled and went for my walk around the park. Sometimes, I almost talk myself
out of it but within 10 minutes I am enjoying it too much to turn back. I met
Loree and Freddy, one of our last morning 'meets' here as they are leaving tomorrow. That
will be sad to see our friends pulling away but inevitable.
The oleander is so pretty with blooms and buds ready to burst |
Today, the park game is Corn Hole aka
Bean Bag Toss and it is at 9:30. Knowing that I wanted to have a go at the
game, I poached us eggs on toast for breakfast at 8:30. When Bill nudged
Clemson in the bed at 9 (to make sure he was still breathing!) I took him out
for his morning business. He'd slept through the night for the 3rd night in a row. Yay! The sun was out in full glory in a full blue sky but
that wind was very strong and cold. I decided I wasn't going to corn hole today. We weren’t even
sure if it was going to be offered since it was New Year’s Day.
The sun reached across the road on the Felicity village first |
Rob and Pat popped over for a few
minutes to discuss the upcoming days and then they headed off into Yuma for
some errands. We cleaned up dishes and I got busy making chocolate chip
cookies, the easy way. By opening a pack of rolled dough and spooning them onto
the baking sheet. My success making a regular chocolate chip cookie in the convection oven is
never anything I want to talk about. Not usually very successful in other
words. These are bound to turn out and Bill will be happy for the treat.
Success! |
Ron popped over for a few minutes to chat
and see if we had any garbage to go since he was making a truck run. I searched
under our bed for something Pat and I were talking about a bit ago and while I
didn’t find that, I did pull out 3 of my craft projects. With these days being
cool, it would be a good time to work on them. I also pulled out several cd's with pictures and some videos that we either had made, made ourselves or were
made for us. It will be fun to see what is on them as they date back to 2007
and forward.
I watched a couple of the videos on
the discs on Bill’s laptop and looked at some old pictures on others on my
laptop. For some reason, my ThinkPad isn’t letting me see the videos. Well, they made me smile! When Rob
and Pat returned from Yuma we took a walk up to the office, all of us wanting to
check our mail and sure enough Jess and Matt’s Christmas card was there waiting
for us. It was worth the walk in the cold wind and we really were expecting it
any day.
Loree is looking for one thing depicting Arizona and we were discussing night lights last evening (with flash, the ceramic frame looks wooden) |
I just wanted to show her our bedroom one (this is without flash so the silhouette shows as we see it) |
We read our books and dozed and Bill
took Clemson out for a couple of walks late afternoon. Nature calls but Clem is
taking his time today. Good thing he has his fleece coat on or he’d freeze his
little legs off. It was an inside cooking day but instead of the leftover
chicken and dumplings, we had French fries and chicken nuggets in our fryer. Our
salad fixings and veggies (other than things I like) are gone so we are
scheduled for a grocery run on Thursday for a few things.
Supper was very good and a quick clean up right, dear? |
I didn’t get out to take pictures
today and nothing really eventful happened so I will close this sooner than
later. It was a perfect cooling down, relaxing day after many busy ones. I hope
you all enjoyed your first day in a new year!
A sunset picture for you - not tonight's but a pretty one through the screen door good night! |
Thank you for popping in, I hope you
enjoyed the read today.
Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteThank you! Same to you!!
DeleteYour cookies look wonderful! Love your night light, and yes that's definitely AZ! Windy here this morning! We always enjoy your read!
ReplyDeleteThank you Shirley. That night light was purchased in Texas, our first year coming across the pan handle. Windy days sure cool the temperatures down. Thanks my friends.
DeleteAccording to the "microwave" lady, plugged in to 30 amp, it's just like your regular oven as far as time and temp. If you have a 50 amp service, lower the temps by 25 degrees. Doesn't seem to matter they still don't turn out well for me either. Any way you cook them though, cookies can't be all bad.
ReplyDeleteThanks Nancy, I've tried a few ways but for some reason the chocolate chip ones never stay together. :) They still taste good though.
DeleteThanks for the night light pictures Patsy. We will miss everyone when we leave today but of course I can keep up by reading your blog. Take care friends and we will keep in touch.
ReplyDeleteI missed you this morning walking and then again while we were shopping. :(
DeleteIt is nice to know you can keep up. Have fun in Palm Springs and keep in touch!
Hugs to all 3 of you!
I am hoping for some warm temps down there, but sunshine sure helps for the mood. Anyway comfort food and a move by the fire will be good to stay warm. Have a good time at the park.
ReplyDeleteYou guys are making such good time, we may see you here before we leave on the 11th. Travel safe and stay warm. We are experiencing a cool spell but beautiful sunny skies.
DeleteIt was chilly and windy but we enjoyed the sunshine so alway was good here behind you guys. Nice toe enjoy these relaxing days inside or out.
ReplyDeleteWe prefer indoors on chilly days and a cookie baking day made it that much better too.
DeleteI always feel slow relaxing days, especially after busy ones, are perfect. Cute night light very Arizona. Glad your cookies turned out, Tom loves to bake those kind with our grandkids...lol
ReplyDeleteI do too. Thanks, the cookies are too good if you know what I mean. :)
