On Wednesday, Mar. 6th I
woke up with Clemson and noticed that Bill was already downstairs. It was
around 6:30 when I got up and got dressed right away for my walk. Today my feet
took me down towards the beach, across the sand, up the hills, along the gravel
road and then back down to the beach again before walking up to our site. Bill
was outside with his camera snapping pictures when I returned.

The sun and the clouds made for a beautiful sky |
I made my tea and moved outside to
sit while he began putting our solar lights away and the Weber wind screen. It
was a lovely morning, even though only 48F, nice to sit out with a jacket at 8.
We moved inside after an hour or so and I packed a few things away up in the
bedroom. I made us each poached eggs on toast for breakfast and then Bill got
washed and drove into Truth or Consequences for fuel. The prices are up but the
cheapest place in town was the Route 66/Circle K at $3.03/gallon.

The gulls at play when I walked by |
|
It's like the sky, I never tire of taking pictures of the lake |
|
And good morning! Notice the foggy mountains in the background just lumbering there Could be someone sleeping if you squint |
I waited until he returned just
before 11 and made us each a coffee that we enjoyed together outside. He had
his book, David Baldacci’s The Whole Truth and I did some crocheting. Clemson
came out for a short while and then I went for a walk with Pat. We decided to
walk to the trail again behind Quail Run and Desert Cove so headed that way. We’ve
heard warnings about rattlesnakes with the heat we are encountering so remained
watchful once we hit the sandy areas.

A gorgeous sky for the camera |
No Jack again today, I so wanted to
introduce him to my buddy! Next time. We took our time walking, sitting for a
while on the bench and snapping a very successful selfie before returning home
to our sites.

Breakfast |
Bill and Rob were both out in the sun reading their books so we
joined them at our own places. At 1 I put my bathing suit on and got out my
lounge chair again. I’m not missing this day for sunning when I know we’re
headed to cooler days.

And I just pose |

Our selfie today turned out first time! |
Bill joined me in his chair and took
his shirt off. Let’s soak up some rays. Our neighbours, Nolan and Gabby were packing
up to move on down the line to another site they had reserved. It is so busy in
here that when they booked yesterday to keep a site for a couple of nights,
they couldn’t stay on the same one. We had a nice chat with Nolan, very ‘Patrick-like’
as in chatty and a cutie. My son learned at an early age to befriend his
elders. I like that Nolan and Gabby did too.

A nice young couple making their way in the rv world too |
|
He said it took him forever to blow up the boat so just carted it down the row on the dolly |
They left and at 2:30, Bill moved
inside and I soon followed. We took our drinks and chairs over to Rob and Pat’s
for Happy Hour today. And, of course, a selfie on our last day here. They have
a beautiful spot with a perfect view of the lake and I’m very happy about that.
They will come back , methinks. 😊 We chatted about our former home and
their present one back in Ontario, dispersing of furniture and also our day trip
tomorrow. When all was settled, we parted.

Buddies enjoying Happy Hour at the park we have the best view of the lake too |
|
And the quails will be missed |
|
And the bunnies |
Bill had already taken Clemson out
for a piddle but he very clearly let me know that it was my turn to take him
for a walk. We walked around the area of Lion’s Beach Campground, Loop A, B
& C and then back home again. It was very warm despite the strong winds. At
5:30 Bill lit the Weber and managed to grill our Italian sausages for supper.
He had packed away his wind screen earlier, remember? It took a little longer
but the wait was worth it.

More morning walk photos |

Not sure how they got down there but hope they can get out just as easily! Lovely spot, eh? |
|
I'm looking across the desert to our campsites |
I fried up the leftover potatoes and
warmed some gravy inside. We had new neighbours again. Another cute young
couple with a tent. We didn’t catch their names but it was very sweet, watching
the two of them together put their tent up, move things inside and warm up
canned supper on a hot plate. We offered the bbq and anything else they might need
throughout the evening but they politely thanked us and said it was only one
night and they were only an hour and a half from home.
|
Yum, I loved fried potatoes |
Our supper was great and then to top
it off, I warmed up the little cherry pies that I bought at Walmart in Benson.
I’d never seen them before but Pat had. We had to try them and I must admit for
.50¢, they were delicious and just the right amount! We each had one. After
dishes, we sat and relaxed for the evening. I am reading a David Baldacci book
too. Mine is called The Fix and I’m very curious to see if it is the same
storyline as a new movie, I saw advertised on tv. I’m hooked.

and delicious cherry pie Personal size |
This has been a great last day here
at Elephant Butte Lake State park. It couldn’t have been any better, our 5-night
stay. I hope you’ve had a fun day too.

Goodbye Elephant Butte Lake My shadow and I on our last morning walk I love this place, oh, I guess I've said that often

Thank you for visiting today. Your
comments are always welcome.
Another fine day there at EB. And your pictures holding up the sentry plant are cute.
ReplyDeleteLove those tiny pies, we have enjoyed them for years, a good deal at Walmart. Now travel safe to your next destination.
Super pictures of the sky and lake. Of course the pics of you guys sitting happily at your campsite should be treasured and kept as nice mementos. I’m not surprised it’s a favoured spot.
ReplyDeleteNice pictures of you and Pat by the Century plants. The first time I saw those from a distance I thought there were birds sitting on the branches. Beautiful pictures of the lake. I see why you like it there. Great picture of the four of you. Hope you had a safe travel day. Miss you too.
ReplyDeleteThe gull picture looks like they're playing with an alligator :) Dinner looks yummy! Cute pic of the 4 of you!
ReplyDeleteThe Pecan Pie is very good.
ReplyDeleteLove the photos, such a lovely spot. The selfies were all great. Very happy looking folks.
Safe travels.
