And a GOOD FRIDAY It Was

The Ridge
We woke up to rain still beating on the roof. It was Good Friday, Apr. 19th .  I was reminded last night that I had been remiss in wishing a grandson Happy Birthday yesterday. So, I apologize to young Connor, who turned 14. Connor is the second oldest in a family of 4 boys. Four sports-minded young lads who are all involved in hockey, I might add. I hope you had a wonderful day, Connor!

Happybelated  Birthday, Big Guy!
The rain was to continue all day and with all businesses closed today, we had already planned to stay home, stay inside and do whatever our hearts desired. We had our coffee and tea together, read some blogs and then I made pancakes for breakfast. It was a change up from bacon and eggs and a welcome one, even though it isn’t the wisest choice for our round bellies. 😊 We cleaned up dishes and Bill got the vacuum out to do the floors. I picked up and shook the scatter mats ahead of him.

This is the kind of day we had around here
I had a few mishaps during travels of the craft items I made at Tres Rios RV Park so got out my little glue gun to take care of those things.

Just a little glue required
Back together

Some of the petals fell off and are behind the couch
Woops!
Bill wanted to do some blog writing and researching on his laptop so we set about doing our own things. First, he showered and I got washed. Clemson got up at the same time as I did, around 7:15 and since going out, has remained on the couch in his bed for the remainder of the morning. He is happy and sleeps well on any given day.
This should make a nice pair of slippers
Bill worked away at the table and I sat in my recliner behind him. It was the perfect day to crochet another pair of slippers, this time for my sweetie. Bill wears suede moccasins on his feet inside the Suite. In this cooler weather, without a furnace running to keep the floor warm, he notices his feet get cold more than anything else. He can be in a t-shirt and if you know Bill at all, you will know that about him.

Clemson's first trip down the lane this year
Ring around the mailbox and back
I seem to be good at making slippers, I am proud to say that I pump them out pretty quickly. They are fairly simple, after all. However, one may look great and the other one comes out a different size. Then I get into ‘frogging’ (thanks, Wendy) until eventually I have 2 look alikes. The first one needed to be torn out but the second one was perfect. The afternoon went at a lovely leisurely pace and soon enough it was time to start supper.

I got Madame I.P. out and spiced up the two thawed bone-in chicken thighs. When she was plugged in on Saute and reading HOT, I browned them in oil for a few minutes. In the meantime, I watched the last of the movie Castaway with Bill and mixed up some cole slaw for our side dish. The chicken cooked for 12 minutes, did a natural release for 10 and we were eating 30 minutes after I started. The chicken thighs were tender and tasty.

During the meal and cleanup afterwards, we watched The Expendables 1, 2 & 3. What can I say? It was an evening for movies and we’d never watched these 3 before. Can’t go too far wrong with Sly Stallone, right? Today was a darn cold day. It was 40F/4.4C when we got up and throughout the day it dropped to 37F/2.7C and stayed there. The rain lasted for most of the day and the winds were jumping all over the place from every which way.

At one point, during a lull in the rain, Clemson and I walked to the end of the lane. His first time and he went as far as the mailbox and turned around and headed back up the lane like a good little boy. He didn’t show any interest in going out on the road and that is a step in the right direction. We came back in from the cold but not after I captured a video of him running ahead of me. I love the way he stops to check on me.
This was a no nonsense, non-scheduled day. Just the kind we like. It was indeed a Good Friday! I hope yours was too.

Supper was good and I had no doubts

  4. It has been a wet week for sure. I guess we have to keep thinking "April showers, bring May flowers." The grass is turning green and there are sprouts of green poking through my mulch of leaves so I guess spring is on the way!

  6. The IP sounds amazing that it can turn into a chicken thigh after starting out as a chicken breast. LOL
