And A Little Rain Must Fall, Friendly Chat, Bill Gets a Day Off

On Thursday, July 16^th Bill was up getting ready for work when I woke up at 6:30. I lazed until closer to 7 and got up, washed and headed into Durham. Hoping all the way that the doors were closed and locked and that I would have no morning surprises. Yay! They were locked so I’m assuming Jamie popped over to close them after 10 because we forgot to. He is closer and whether he did it for me or not, I appreciated the ‘no visitor’ thing.

I went about my work although it looked in pretty clean condition. Almost as if Jamie did a tidy up as well. After checking all machines, toilet and emptying lint from dryers, I did a dry and then wet mop on the floors before leaving. I made sure the doors were closed again, even though I had them propped open while I worked. With the impending rain today, it isn’t a good idea to leave them open. Bill had been notified soon after I left that with the rain in Walkerton, he would have the day off.

Back home, I waved at Bill down at the Hangar area and came in for my tea. Mitch had texted last night that I could wait until 10:30 to show up this morning since he wouldn’t be back home until then. That gave me a couple of hours to relax in between jobs today. We made the connection with our friends, Ron and Loree, this morning and caught up on their news. The song says “you can’t always get what you want” but you know what? Sometimes you can! 😊

I puttered around inside on my laptop, playing my online games and reading blogs etc. Soon enough, it was time to head to Graceland 2. Mitch had the truck out so I could carry on sanding the door on the passenger side. The owner is coming from Markdale tomorrow to see how it is coming along so we wanted to have some progress to show him.

First, Mitch asked if I could help him set up his new satellite receiver. All it meant was to follow instructions from a phone technician and push the right buttons. I’m glad Mitch was helping with the conversation as I’m not great at understanding the accent of some of the people we get when we call. This fellow was Pakistani. We got it set up and the ‘boss’ was very pleased to have connection again. Then we went to work on the vehicles.

Bill drove over just after 12 noon to see what I’ve been up to and so he got to see the old Plymouth. It is on the back burner right now, other pressing jobs need the attention. I was finished all I needed to do this morning by 12:30 so marked my hours on his calendar and left. It was a good time to quit as the rain had made a reappearance. Back home, I changed and Bill and I had some lunch before he had a snooze. He’d been working down in the cargo trailer since I left at 7.

We left the Suite about 1:30 to drive to Hanover, a 20-minute drive. Time to stock up on some dairy products and usually Walmart is the best price. The traffic between home and Durham and then Durham to Hanover seemed busy for an early Thursday afternoon but we arrived with no unusual instances. That’s always good news.

We must have timed something right as there were a few people in line ahead of us but within 5 minutes or so, we were all let in. Seemed shoppers in the store were leaving just for us! Bill and I separated once inside. I went for the food products and he went in search of dome fasteners for finishing the hanging of his wing covers. Last thing we needed was to visit the pharmacy section and get Vitamin B, Omega 3 and Calcium pills.

We left Hanover and had a few stops in our own home town. Fuel, a water bottle fill-up, a stop outside the library for Bill to download a Samsung app and then IDA Pharmacy to pick up a prescription. There wasn’t any sun but there sure was a blanket of high humidity (85%) hanging over us. We were home by 3:30 and just relaxed inside for the afternoon.

At 5 I started putting our meatloaf together for Madame IP. I debated cooking it in the oven this time but as before, I chose the quicker version. 1-hour vs 35 minutes wins the contest every time. While it was cooking, I cut up salad ingredients for our side dish. The sky darkened and the rain started around 5:45, a nice steady rain and all around us, it appeared to be mush later than it really was. We’re loving the rain; the air was drenched with it before it even started and it meant no watering for me!

Supper was a success, but that is typical for this meatloaf meal. Bill loves it. I love it and we never need more than a salad to top it off. The rain came and went for the next couple of hours and the air cooled nicely. Even though it is still humid and we are expecting more heat in the days to come, it is nice tonight. After dishes, we went out under the awning and Bill sat on a folding chair, while I cut his hair. His grows much faster than mine and it is certainly thicker at the back. He was ready for another cut.

We got a bit wet as the wind and rain blew in occasionally but just laughed about it and I carried on cutting. I should have snapped a picture of him sitting under there against the Suite. He is so trusting, not seeing what I’m doing at all. When I finished, he was happy and I won’t say more handsome but definitely just as much! 😊 The trimming at the back thinned it out too and it looks quite professional. No pix this time but I hope that doesn’t sound suspicious!

Supper was good and we have leftovers for a couple morenights

We came inside and Bill went upstairs to watch a movie. He has the ‘sleepys’ today so I’ll be surprised if he stays awake up there but he must need it. It was only 8 o’clock so I’m sure he had a couple of hours of wakefulness in him yet. I worked on my post and watched Dr. Pimple Popper downstairs. It’s kind of gross if you don’t like that kind of thing but I like Dr. Lee and she does some neat things for her patients. Every so often, I admit to cringing and squinting my eyes at the procedures.

This was a good day. I worked steady this morning and we got some necessary shopping done this afternoon. Tomorrow is Friday and we should both be back to work for a few hours at least.
