Shopping and Visiting

    The Ridge

On Sunday, Aug. 16th I woke at 6:30 from another dream. It wasn’t a very nice dream so I was happy to be awake. I was also happy to roll over and rest for another 30 minutes. We rose at 7 and got washed up for the day. I made my tea and Bill made his coffee. An hour later, the cooler and cooler bags were in the car and we were headed off to London.

I meant to include these pictures from last night
As I was walking down their lane at the Acreage to get the sunset
Gerry and Donna were riding up on their bike

I got the sunset picture as best I could

And then I got a sister picture too

This is the set up at the Acreage
Mike's rv on the left, Gayle and John in the middle
and the rented 5th wheel on the right

The forecasted overnight rain/storm did not transpire but there were a few light showers just before 8 am. The drive, after stopping for fuel, was mostly dry and uneventful. I’d downloaded pictures last night but needed to work on inserting them into my blog. While Bill drove, it was a good time to do that. At 10:20 we pulled into the busy Costco parking lot on the south end of the city.

The morning started out cloudy

Through the raindrops on the window, a family heads out to church
in their covered buggy

With a list in Bill’s hand (because he is the best at getting everything on there) we took care of filling the cart. And I mean ‘filling’ it. Of course, our timing was impeccable. After cashing out, as we stepped into the foyer it was pouring rain. We waited a brief minute and took the dash to Ptooties. Under the cover of the hatchback, we moved food from cart to cooler and cooler bags. It isn’t a nice feeling being wet like that but at least it was warm.

We crossed the William Hutt bridge in Stratford and saw
this swan family sleeping
Sssshhh!

We soon dried off and drove to Princess Auto. With time to kill before Henry’s opened at noon, I went in to walk through the store too. Surprisingly, I found a few things myself and we checked out separately. At the camera store, we left the little purple Canon power shot to be sent for repair. We’ll probably not hear for a long time but the cost of repair will determine whether we go ahead with it.

Costco was typicallly busy but we were in and out quickly

After all of our stops, we drove by our old house to see the changes
A shed has been placed on the cement pad at the back,
front garden along the drive has been removed and a little evergreen planted
in the middle
Nice to see it 'loved'

Lastly, we drove to our friend’s house for a visit. While in London, we try not to miss an opportunity to see Jim and Sharon. Today, was no exception. It was nice to see them as we did the elbow bump and kept appropriately distanced from them during the time we visited.

The rains and traffic in London on a Sunday afternoon

We had a great visit with Jim and Sharon and the sun came out when we left
at 2:30 ish

It was around 2:30 when we left London with a quick stop at Dorchester for a root beer and dropped in on Ken and Kim in Ingersoll. They are always open to our stops and Ken made us all a Miami Vice for Happy Hour.

Yummy!

On the road at 4:30, the pavement was dry and the sky was mostly blue but white and gray heavy clouds were hanging in the sidelines. At Embro, which is about 15 minutes towards home, Bill needed me to take over the wheel. 😊 We both knew that would happen so I drove to Milverton where he took over from there. I put my seat back then and also had a bit of a shut-eye. We were home by 6:30ish and got groceries unloaded, just before the rain started. We put the goodies away and all freezer meats were separated and stored by 7:15. Then it was time to relax for the evening.

Good night!
(Yay! I got a blog finished on time!)

This was another great day and now we are stocked up again on our food supply. Thank you for your visit.

  3. I too need to go to Costco, but the crowds keep me away. I drove in last week, and right back out the other side. Too many people!!

    1. Surprisingly, once inside, even though a lot of customers, we were directed to a line right away and out in amazingly quick time. :)

  4. Donna rode picky-back on the bike all the way from home? Although I think she had fun doing it by the looks of it. You made the best use of a rainy Sunday by visiting and shopping.

    1. Ha ha, no, she rode in the bike box from the back of their site to the front where the other trailers and campfire were. Unfortunately, we didn't get you two over to see the Acreage.

  5. Oh fun with K and K! Those Miami Vices look yummy! It was a busy day but fun in there too. I have to admit I hate shopping right now, hoping for a time down the road to be able to enjoy it once again. Gorgeous sunset was certainly your reward!

    1. We had a fun visit with K & K as always. Nice to see them again.
We don't mind shopping even though we are masked. I think we feel that there is no way they are going to stop us doing what we need and enjoy doing.
