Stormy Enough, Plans Changed, Laziest Day Yet

Paisley, On

On Tuesday, Dec. 1st we woke up to a snowy wonderland. Well, there is no ‘wonder’, just white stuff coming down. Overnight, about 3” had accumulated on the landscape and we could see that the snowplow had been down through town. There was a pile at the end of the laneway. Since Bill hadn’t heard anything about a cancellation of work, he left around 6:20. It took him about 10 minutes to clean Black Beauty off and warm her up.

A peek at the morning

I watched from the window, waiting to see him leave, and then crawled back into bed, turned the light on and opened my book. B.B. does not like snow (nor too much sand) since she is only 2-wheel drive. Who thought we’d need anything heavier when we bought the truck? Regardless, it is what it is (as everyone says) and we deal with it. He will have to put some sand or salt bags in the back for weight and for emergency use. Boy, was I surprised when our bedroom door opened an hour later and my sweetie returned!

You can see what the snow plow left

Work was cancelled because the roads were terrible out there. Lives do not need to be risked. Bill was just as happy for the break. I got dressed and went down for my morning tea with him and the house was still quiet. W & S were up when Bill left and then settled in the front room. When we went down, they were still in there resting, so, we were very quiet, so as not to disturb them. No work for anyone outside the household today.

Bill leaving for work

I talked about boots the other day so after showing Bill what I found online, I ordered a pair. They will be warm and have good tread for winter and they will also replace my other ones for anytime that I want taller boots with narrow leg jeans. I didn’t want a pair with obvious fur showing, designating them ‘winter’ wear. They are coming from Walmart so will probably be ready for pick up in a day or two.

And as he goes down the main street, Black Beauty
is probably grumbling

There are a couple of birthdays in December so I addressed those cards and set them aside for mailing in due time. Then, I stretched out on the bed and read some more about Reacher. Bill also read and dozed, I read and dozed, and then we read some more. I could tell the way the pages were turning that our books would be finished tonight.

Edward went out to brush his car off
He is W & S's son who lives in the apartment in front of us

His J.A. Jance story is moving right along and I’ll be reading it next. I imagine he’ll read mine next too. ๐Ÿ˜Š They are both good. The snow stopped for part of the afternoon and I debated a walk but that didn’t last long. I was too comfy inside today. I’m too embarrassed to even look at my Fitbit tally! I showered though, that was something that I did today.

I think I still see snow falling

For supper we went down and made it together. I fried 2 basa filets and Bill used the Fry Daddy for French fries. I know I’ve put a couple of pounds back on so I opted for Caesar salad with my fish instead. It was yummy. Funny, it seems like a weekend with both of us being home all day. After dishes, we came up and that’s when I finished The Enemy before going in to watch Jeopardy!

This was a tasty supper

It was quiet again for the rest of the evening and looking out the window, I noticed the snow had started at some point. Yeuch.  We are trying to believe tomorrow’s forecast and are looking forward to a clear day. I hope that works out for all of us.

Finished
So, good night!

Hoping your day was a good one, full of only pleasant things. Thank you for popping in.

  1. The snow is very pretty. We were happy that we have underground parking because even though our Dodge is four wheel drive it also is not used to snow and cold so we thought it should be parked somewhere warm for the winter :-)

    1. Yes, underground parking would be great! I'm sure Ptooties is wondering what happened too! She's usually tucked away in a warm barn covered in a blanket. :)

  3. Sounds like a perfect snow day, I always loved when we would get up and the radio would say no school. I wish you were not stuck there in the snow but I just have to say it looks so pretty in the lights from the street and Christmas Decorations.

    1. Yes, the schools were cancelled in some areas but not sure how wide spread that was. We never experienced that as a child, they were like mail truck deliveries. Come he** or high water, we will deliver!! haha

  4. Even though my big truck is 4-wheel drive, I still have to keep either a load of sand or several old bales of hay in the back. It's just too light on the back end.

    1. I said a while ago that Ptooties is all wheel drive and that is wrong. She is only front wheel drive.

  5. Except for a few manufacturers all wheel drive or 4 wheel drive have more fatalities than a 2 wheel drive

  7. Very rarely do students get a snow day here. I really can't remember having a snow day when I was in school in Scarborough either. I just remember walking back and forth to school every day.

Hope your boots are nice and warm, mine are good to -40 C and sometimes that is very necessary here on the prairies.

    God bless.
