Bumps in the Night, Bit of Shopping, Bit of Puzzling

Park Place RV Resort

On Thursday, Mar. 10th we were all up together around 7:30. I was slow moving because of my shingles, it seems a second spot arrived overnight. Crap! Gibbs patiently waited for Mom to get her act in gear and if it weren’t for him, I admit that I would have just stayed put. Yippee for our 4-legged little friends! I am actually serious when I say that, not being flippant. He gets me out every morning because I don’t want to disappoint him. 😊

The morning started like this
More, Daddy, I love my ears rubbed 💓

We only walked the short block though, just around our park, but he was happy and the warm 56F/14C felt wonderful. I didn’t need anything other than a hoody and wind breaker. The winds didn’t start out too bad this morning but increased throughout the day. After having my tea, I got cleaned up and left my boys at home. Today, the thrift store at Salvation Army was open until 1 or 2 so I wanted to go. I’m looking for a pair of mid-thigh shorts without spending a fortune.

I know nothing about how old these vans are
but immediately thought of Bob when I saw
this one in the thrift store parking lot

On the way, I stopped at Family Dollar for the plain tortilla chips that I’m taking with my chili on Sunday for the potluck. It’s easier in many ways than rolls or a special bread, not just for me. That would mean butter and worrying about them staying fresh etc. F.D. had exactly what I needed so picked up two bags and noticed the Coke Zero was back in stock and on sale so grabbed 2 cases for Bill on my way out.

This little old structure is still on the corner
across from Solar Bills
Oh, to know the history!

Next, I drove through town to the west end of Main to the thrift store. I didn’t find shorts and debated a long time on a couple pair of pants that I could cut off to the length I needed but cheaped out and put them back on the rack. I might have a pair in my closet that I can do that to so decided to hold off. I did find a couple of pale green clothing items that I will wear Sunday and beyond. Both nice little additions to my wardrobe. 😊

This is a very organized, clean store
I thought of our dear friend, George
when I saw all these hot, hotter and hottest sauces ♥

Lastly, I found 4 nice puzzles for $1 each so brought them back for the clubhouse. I’ll do them and leave them here. After leaving there, I decided to check out the Beef Jerky shop and wandered their candy-filled aisles. Yum, yum and yum. I refrained from buying much because of the prices, mainly, but did pick up a couple of bags of chocolate nuts. One sugar-free for me and the other a honey roasted for Bill. I’d never tasted jerky so when the clerk offered, I tried the Cowboy. Ummm, that was nice! I didn’t buy any though, the price again stopped me.

She must mean break open the bottles ?
the are plasticcontainers
Gave me a chuckle

I drove home in shock after seeing that the 76 gas station had diesel at $5.65/gal when on my way in, it was the lowest at $4.93. Of course, Bill was just as shocked when I told him and that the cheapest in town is the Chevron $5.17. I’ve got to stop talking about it, it’s too freaking stressful! LOL Back home, I made a coffee and sat with Bill for a bit before making omelette/crepes for lunch. Yummy!

Outside the store this Beaver tail cactus was in bloom
Sorry, didn't realize it blurred until too late

I’ve been curious what Jamie, my laundromat boss back home, was doing about the Mat. I might have told you that it was broken into and damaged a week after we left in November? Anyway, he has had a lot going on, with that and losing his Mom recently so nothing has transpired and it is still closed. We feel so bad for him and hope it works out for him. I might be looking for another part-time job, we’ll see.

What a showpiece this will be when they all bloom
See the buds?

In the clubhouse, I finished the puzzle in the hour and a half that I was there. It was fun, even though pretty easy. With Patty and Heather in the office, they asked if I heard the huge bang last night. We did. Bill came down from upstairs and went out to check around the area but didn’t see anyone or anything out of place. It could have been many things but nothing was visible and none of us had damage. All good things.

Our crepe/omelettes were delicious!

It was 2:30 when I returned and I’d noticed puzzle pieces were falling out of one of the boxes when Don moved it. Heather laughingly suggested that while I was bringing it home to transfer the pieces to a ziplock baggie ‘maybe you should count them as you do that!’ We joked about that but it was a good idea so I did that on the island at home and at the same time, I separated the border pieces for my ease when I do the puzzle. 😊 The pieces were all there, all 750 of them.

This will be a fun one
Not sure if it is next though

I relaxed for the rest of the afternoon (like I’ve been SO busy!) with my book and will soon be finished. If you wonder why I’m not working on my afghan, well, it’s because I’m on the last ball of wool and then it will be finished. That’s a bit sad, isn’t it? Also, it’s been a little too warm to have a large wool blanket on my lap, especially when I also usually have a 23 lb. furry ball beside me. I’ll get to it.

Yup, counted all 750 pieces

For supper, we had large Italian meatballs air fried in Rosy, boiled potatoes, corn for Bill and acorn squash for me. It was a great meal. I love the easy cleanup that we’ve resorted to as well. Gibbs had the zoomies and devil in him today, a few times. He wouldn’t leave my clogs alone, he barked a lot and continually grabbed things he wasn’t supposed to have. I think it’s because Bill told him that we expect his bad habits to disappear in a couple of days when he turns 1 year old. 😊 Ya think?

My little poser

We watched one of Bill’s car shows at 7MT while I worked on my blog. Then at 8MT we watched Swamp People which we both enjoy. My final episode of Joe Millionaire is recording so I can watch it later and avoid commercials. I’ll be on the edge of my seat. This was a good day.

The meatballs are bigger than they look here
Two each is plenty for a big meal like this

The shingles were at their worst this morning and by supper, Bill put cream on the ones on my back that I couldn’t reach. Where did those come from? This is kind of a bad bout but tomorrow will be better. A couple more Advil tonight helped me to settle down comfortably for the evening. 😊

A fun picture from Mar. 10, 2017
Clemson would NEVER go in the water
and when he walked in to get a treat from our friend Nancy,
it shocked us all!

Good night!

Couldn't get on Facebook or my blogger site last night at all. Hence, the delay.

Thank you for visiting us today!

  1. Hoping you have time, and feel better, to give me the grand tour. So many places I haven’t seen!! I do hate big booms. Happens here too and I always wonder what they are. Cooper doesn’t like them either!!! Gibbs was just getting your attention - maybe wanting to play??? Silly boy but SO cute!!

    1. Oh definitely, we'll have lots of time to show you around! Shingles don't slow me down too much. 😄
Gibbs definitely does this stuff for attention and play.

  2. Hi Patsy: I used to get shingles to many times. I get a shingles shot and it keeps them away! I am glad they have the shots for that now! Hope you get feeling better soon. Miss seeing you two. It's about time. Kathy Rousseau.

    1. Hi Kathy. Thanks! The original vax didn't do anything to prevent the shingles but i think they may be smaller and only last 2 days instead of 4.
I'm going to look into the new ones back home. Might be something i will continue to live with, it's already been over 20 years.

  3. Wow. I didn't know about the laundromat. It's so disappointing. I have no words....I don't understand why someone would do that. When we have chili beans I like to eat mine with tortilla chips and cheese. Hope you feel better today. Elva

  4. Nice slow moving day for you. Sorry to hear about the laundromat owner. Hooe it all gets better. Dolly and I have considered shingles shots but never get around to it.😔 I'm sure you would recommend. Does Bill have his if I may ask.

    1. Thanks Doug. I enjoyed working at the Mat. There were the odd worrisome things but Ill miss it.
Yes, Bill got his shot at 65 and yes we recommend it. It's painless although now it involves 2 shots. Depending on the cost, i may do the same with the new one.

  5. OH I am so sorry about the Mat and Jamie, poor guy! What is wrong with people!? Sorry about your shingles once again! Maybe you're worrying too much and don't even know why! Chips will definitely go with your chili, that's how Ken likes his! :)

    1. Thank you, I'm hoping things work out for Jamie.
I must be worrying too much about something since there isn't anything thrilling that has me excited! haha
Great to hear about the chili & chips. I feel good about my decision to serve them. :)

  6. My sister gets shingles every so often and is always in pain when they appear.

Prices are supposed to drop here a bit over the next little while for gas and diesel so there is that to look forward to.

    God bless.
