A Busy Sunday – Should be a Day of Rest!

The Ridge

It wasn’t a restful day for me on Sunday, June 5th but sometimes that is just the way it turns out.

A pretty sky thanks again to the clouds

Let’s go back to last night. We arrived at the Drive-In around 8:45 with the movie to start at 9:15 or whenever it was dark enough. The screen sure seems a whole lot smaller than I remember it but perhaps we used to park closer. It was a beautiful warm night and we didn’t need the blankets at all. So, the movie, Top Gun, was AWESOME! We both love the original and this one did not disappoint us at all.

We had to wait in a long line to get this far
and looking back, seems we came at a good time
There were a number of hatchbacks where people
sat to watch, chairs behind their vehicles
and chairs in the bed of pick ups
It wasn't that warm!

It actually didn’t begin until close to 10 and ended around midnight. The funniest thing was the intermission commercials. Do you remember those from your teen years? Well, they haven’t changed!

This was fun and we'll do it again

Bill wanted to park near the back but
doesn't it look small? 😃

That was so funny! Even the somersaulting wiener that jumps into the bun. We decided to stay for the second show. Lost City starred Sandra Bullet, Ed Harris and Brad Pitt was not worth staying for and after 20 minutes or so, we left. Stupid movie.

Intermission time!

I bet this brings back memories

We were home by 1:15 and after Gibbs running out for a quick piddle, we all climbed into bed. The little guy must sleep while we’re gone but had no problem going back to sleep until 6:30 this morning. We slept in until 8:15 and sorted the laundry. Back to my busy day. To start out, I clean every other day and every two weeks, it falls on a Sunday. So, I work on the Lord’s day regardless.

Gibbs following the shade

I had texted Jamie with my May work hours and he would meet me at the Mat this morning to pay me. With the sun ruling the blue sky, I could hang the laundry on the line. 😊 Within 15 minutes, my ‘boss’ showed up and we began discussing the upcoming sale of the laundromat. I’m happy for Jamie but it could mean that I’ll no longer be needed. The new owners might need someone but it depends on whether we get along appropriately. Neither here nor there right now.

This is a cute picture

My job is secure at the Mat until July 27th so that’s almost 2 months. I did my cleaning in between helping Jamie clean out the two storage rooms. They were long overdue and even he admitted that. Sometimes it takes a push to get it done. He asked me to be ‘secretary’ for him by making up a Chattel list and then we purged and made piles of what needs to go to the dump. Bill has a couple of small things he’ll do for Jamie over the next little while and it will be good to go. Literally.

A good start

I had filled Ptooties on my way in and before I left town, filled a 5-gallon water jug. Bill and Gibbs were down at the Hangar when I returned and I hung the clothes. Bill's plan was to work on his hobby today and he did. 💙 Gibbs was let off leash and ran around a bit but mostly followed the revolving shade under the clothes line. 😊 I vacuumed the Suite and emptied the dishwasher. At 3, it was time for a tea and to put my puzzle away.

At 3:30, we drove over to meet our new neighbours to the east. It’s a mom, daughter and husband and their two children. They seem very nice and very appreciative of our welcome. They’ve never lived in the country before so we gave them a garbage pick up calendar and a couple of tags since the first one is tomorrow. They’ve never had a mailbox so that was discussed as well as property maintenance. “Can we cut our trees and bushes?” That kind of thing.

Gibbs thought my cone looked
pretty good but he didn't
get any

They have a cute little chihuahua name Prince who came to me to be picked up right away. Gibbs was suspicious when I returned, sniffing my hands, sleeves and shirt all over.  Woops! They seem very nice and at least we know their names and visa versa if they ever need us. I put the puzzle away and started a new one. This one will be easier, I made sure of that! I worked on it for an hour before coming inside to start supper.

A nice sky tonight

Haddock and fries for supper ending with a Salty Caramel ice cream cone with a cherry on top. Breaking all the rules tonight, it seems, but it was all delicious. This has been a good day, busy but good, and we’re watching a movie together before I retreat to an early bedtime. 😊

Last year, I had a few more veggie plants
but they looked good!
Good night!

Thank you for popping around!

  1. This is Maxx Trails

That sure did look like a small screen at the drive-in, I think our screen at the theater was much bigger! We also thought Top Gun was awesome :-)

  4. Very nice of you to touch base with the new neighbours. I'm sure they appreciated the practical advice!
I can't recall the last time I was at a drive-in, but I've watched many a movie on the big screen on the deck of a cruise ship. They call it Movies under the Stars (MUTS) and provide popcorn and blankets. The screen at the drive-in did look quite small.

  5. That screen sure does look small. Most of our drive ins except one that is over an hour away have closed. I miss them.

Gibbs sure is eyeing that cone.

    God bless.

  6. Seems everyone who's seen Top Gun really likes it! I'm not a Tom Cruise fan so have no desire to see it. Haven't been to a drive in in forever! Love the puzzle! :)
