Classic Weather Change, Typically Ontario

The Ridge

On Friday, Oct. 7th we woke up to a total change in temperature here in our part of the world. I’m sure we aren’t alone , but we went from a gorgeous day yesterday, 19C/66F and sunny, to 5C/41F and windy with heavy dark clouds. There have been sunny breaks but it has brought no rise in temperature. Brrr. Bill left for his LAST scheduled work day at 7:30.

The clouds were pretty heavy
much of the day

For some strange reason, I, the gal who rarely has a bad night’s sleep, went to bed at 9:30, woke up at 1 am and laid awake until around 5 when I’m sure I dropped off for a few minutes before getting up at 6:30. I can’t figure why but I watched every 15 minutes tick by, tossing and turning umpteen number of times. The funny thing is that I wasn’t tired! I debated getting up and going downstairs but I knew it would be chilly down there and I was toasty warm. So, I stayed put.

Lunch

I didn’t have to go anywhere but had planned to take our grocery list, which was getting fuller by the hour, to Hanover’s Walmart. I can’t beat the prices there and it’s a one-stop shop for those other personal cleansing items we need. I wore a sweater plus a fall jacket! I was in and out of Walmart pretty quickly, which was good as I could feel a tickle in my throat, threatening a cough. 😊

Gibbs and I looked out the back window
and saw the berm covered in birds
I don't  know what kind they are

The background is pretty, huh?
These birds were busy gathering food from the lawn

I had my mask in my pocket in case I started hacking down an aisle, but I didn’t need it. I left a sizeable donation and drove from there to Dollarama. Time to stock up on the greeting cards that we’ll need to cover birthdays over the winter months. We like to have them all on hand so we’re not caught short. We’ll get the stamps we need as soon as we reach Arizona.

Gibbs and I went upstairs for a snooze

He loves the tight spaces

I stopped at the Mat when I saw Kaitlyn was there with the techies who were installing the new cameras. She is always a pleasure to see and she was quite excited today with all the new upgrades. They will now be able to monitor the Mat from their phones with the wifi/internet that was also installed last week. I had to stop at the Dollar Store in Durham to get a toilet brush which I forgot in the city.

Bill was working on the Word Search
while having a tea with me
Gibbs wanted to be as close as possible to his Daddy ♥

He doesn't play with it a lot, but this hard plastic
bone toy is one of the best investments we've made for him

Back home with Gibbs, I had a coffee and soon after, my lunch. Those buns were a good purchase last Friday! I played some of my Word games and then went upstairs with my little guy for some tv and perhaps a snooze. Bill called that he was on his way home so we came down to greet him before we all went up for an afternoon nap. Nice that he was home by 2 on his last day.

It looks pretty sloppy but it tasted good
I gave Bill most of the leftover potatoes and I took
the carrots since they're not his favourite veggie

Leftover hamburger stew for supper with some homemade biscuits, because I like them with a stew. The biscuits never seem to turn out quite the way I like them, but we ate them, crumbly or not, and the meal filled us. It was perfect for this wet, cold, windy day. After dishes, we played along with Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy on tv and just relaxed for the remainder of the evening. I hope I sleep better tonight!

A pretty evening sky
Good night!

Thank you for your visit.

    1. Yes for sure. We just need the weather to cooperate to get things out away.

  3. Reminds me of THE BIRDS movie!! It's funny how our pups always want to be so close.

  4. Grackles maybe? They tend to gather in groups and they are quite noisy.
I'm sure the next couple of weeks will be busy for both of you, prepping for your trip south. Hopefully you have some nicer weather.

    1. I think they were too small for grackles and too quiet.
Thank you, Maebeme. The cooler temps are making me more excited to leave now.

  5. That's a remarkable flock of birds that invaded your berm!
