Thanksgiving Sunday, Change of Plans

Sunday, Oct. 9^th was another sleep in day for the Richards’ family. 😊 It was 8 o’clock when we all got up. I’m getting used to this, not hearing Bill’s phone chirping beside us and not hearing an alarm every morning. The weekend is usually quiet but we tend to get up with things going on early anyway. Not anymore!

Where did the sunshine that we woke up to go?

Last week I responded to my niece’s Thanksgiving potluck invite being held in Hanover today. All week, fighting the colds, we’ve both been saying ‘let’s hope these coughs and sniffles are gone’. As it turned out, that hasn’t happened. As a matter of fact, mine seems to be turning in the opposite direction. ☹ Today, we woke up, me after a couple of cough-filled nights, and agreed that we would forgo the dinner and stay home.

I notified Joanne on her event page and popped a note to Donna and my daughter, Bridgette. We were disappointed but neither of us wanted to ‘share’ what we have, nor did we feel like sitting among family for conversation. Darn coughs! Instead, we took advantage of the beautiful morning (it changed after lunch), and went out to do more packing up.

Now, we made great strides today and there truly is very little left to do! Our two weeks before departure should be fairly relaxed. Bill has a few things to do regarding his planes, batteries and equipment but the Bunky and outhouse are filled and the storage shed is ready for the riding mower when we get it back. We have a shelter to take down after we put Jazz into storage. First nice day after an oil change. 😊

For supper, we had leftover chicken pot pie and I found it tasted better tonight because my expectations weren’t so high. We had a piece of pecan pie for dessert, it was purchased for the dinner but we ended up on the right side of that plate. ♥ After dishes were loaded, we watched a movie (or two) and recorded a new program called Walker Independence. Trying to find a change up for our evenings.

This was a great day even though we missed out on a family get-together. I’m grateful that last weekend we saw most of who we wanted to see before we journey out.
