The Ridge
On Saturday, May 13th the first thing to take care of was a trip to the Acreage for a bladder of water. Bill and Duncan took care of that shortly after 8. Patty and I hung back with Gibbs and chit chatted. The black flies were still ever-present, sadly, and it does take some of the enjoyment out of our morning. There was a breeze though and that helped a little to blow them away.
A few pictures around Friday night's fire Our new light 'shade' is lovely!
We're going to try a dimmer bulb.
It's so bright!Bill and Patty sitting around

and her 'little' blanket.
When the
boys returned, they set to work immediately to get our pump system up and
running. It took a while, with fits and starts, but eventually by conversing
back and forth on walkie talkies, they had it working by noon hour. Yay! They
got their steps today, walking up and down the lane to the foot valve at the
pond’s edge and back up to the pump beside the Bunky.
Saturday morning's sunrise
We had
bacon and eggs for lunch and went back outside. Gibbs seemed to be doing a lot
of barking so after lunch, I put his bark collar on and we had a quieter
afternoon. I put the remainder of our garden stuff out and walked down to hang
the signs along the lane. The Geese and Turtle crossing signs. 😉 Gotta protect those guys!
Gibbs isn't the least bit bothered by the flies with his thick hair It was so warm that I wore shorts and long sleeves as protection from the flies They didn't bother our legs. |
Patty and
I sat outside with our long sleeves and books and kept each other company. Bill
joined us while Duncan nipped into town for fuel. The book I’ve started is Lisa
Scottoline’s Every Fifteen Minutes. 5 chapters in and I’m enjoying it. We had a
late happy hour together, but today we hung around the front of our company’s
Airstream where Duncan was beginning to barbecue supper.
It was a lovely afternoon

I think so!We moved over to their patio
while Duncan began barbecuing
As usual, they were treating us to another delicious meal. Barbecued beets, chicken thighs, corn and macaroni salad. Yum, it all was wonderful! Topped off with strawberry rhubarb pie for dessert.
The Chef
He's barbecuing full beets - YUM!I'm not big on pasta salad but it was
quite yummy
We shared a few things from our travels and
decided to end the night by sitting outside for a while. That soon changed
when, after we all put on warmer clothing, the flies were making us crazy.
Delicious pie! |
At 8:30,
we parted ways, wishing each other a good evening. This day was another warm
one with a high temperature 21C/70F and we spent very little time indoors. We
enjoyed it very much. Tonight, we lost our satellite connection, as expected,
so got back into watching the Bosch series on Prime. 😊
