Our Day was FULL!

CanAm RV Centre

On Friday, Oct. 20^th we had a full day from beginning to end. If you are interested, keep on reading! 😊 Sitting at CanAm is and always has been a pleasure for us. The staff here, including Peggy and Andy, make sure we have a comfortable place to park whenever we come and that means a lot to us. Of course, seeing some of our longtime friends, Wendy, Al, Ben, John, Josee and Anna on this trip, is special as we don’t come here often.

It was turning into a pleasant day.
Not a lot of sun but temperatures reached 
a mild 16C/60F.

So, last night (Thursday) our Suite was back out and ready for us by the time they were ready to close up. All work completed at a much lower price than we first thought. Yay! This morning, when I was making the bed, I noticed that one of the mirrors on our sliding closet bedroom door was cracked at the bottom. When anyone has to work on these broken slide cables, it means up and down on the bed and working in a very tight spot between the bed and the closet. It appears as if in one of those up and down movements that a worker hit the door.

I’m glad I noticed it this morning as we were able to report it and Stu was quick at responding to our query. He was out before 9 to look, measure a new piece of mirrored glass and remove the door. We had an appointment at 10 to get our hair cut at our friends’ place so we left things in his hands and let him replace it while we’re away. We were loaded into Black Beauty, all 3 of us, by 9:30 and drove to Brenda and Randy's place.

Brenda did our hair when we lived in London so it is a treat to go back. ♥ Bill was first and we all sat in her salon at the back of her home and visited through the process. They had invited us to stay for lunch so Randy was in and out of the kitchen preparing lunch while she worked. I was next and as always, we were satisfied customers. Mine was a trim and neatening up and Bill’s was a nice short cut to start off his winter. 😊

What a wonderful lunch!
It filled us so much that we didn't need supper,
thank goodness, as we didn't have time!

Lunch was wonderful! Brenda made a potato leek soup with all the added fixings of cheeses, some veggies, breads and topped it off with a glass of Barefoot wine and carrot cake with cream cheese icing. OH…..MY! It was delicious and we were stuffed when we packed up and said our goodbyes. Brenda and I met in 2005, when she was hired to work in the warehouse where we worked. It has been a special bond between us even across the miles. We left around 1:30 and drove to Derrick’s home, another longtime friend.

And then dessert!

Derrick lost his precious Kathy 2 ½ years ago, suddenly, and we’ve only seen him once since. He was much improved from the understandably broken man from that last visit and our hearts swelled seeing that. Derrick and Bill met many years ago in the RC (radio controlled) planes hobby and we met Kathy together in 2003 and loved her instantly. We really miss her spunk and quirkiness. 😢 It is sure different being there and in his presence without her but he has moved on and can talk about the memories very openly. We felt very comfortable doing the same. Each time, we smiled.

It was a perfect 2 ½ hour visit and before we left, we met his new friend, Terri, who we think will not fill that hole in his heart, but provide him with new adventures and comfort over the coming years. ♥ Hopefully, our next visit won’t be so far off! We had to scurry as we had an evening ‘date’ and 4:30 on a Friday night in London is not the time to rush. Rush hour, why it is called that when it is the last thing you are able to do, I’ll never understand.

We arrived back at CanAm at 5:15 and managed to get changed into some ‘going out’ clothes to leave the Suite around 5:40. Gibbs has had a busy day. He has been the best little visiting guy, with new acquaintances at every stop, and we couldn’t be prouder. 😊 We arrived 20 minutes later, exactly at 6 (phew!), at the Dorchester Legion on the far east end of London. We love the 401 highway for that purpose, it gets you where you need to go quickly.

and she is learning to play drums so he asked if she
wanted to do a song with the band. 😀
She is precious and did very well on an older 50's tune.

My daughter’s fiancé, Chris, was the evening’s entertainment with his band, Wheeler. We have not seen them play since we are too far away but this was the perfect opportunity. It also was perfect for us to see them both one more time before we head off on Sunday. ♥ They were loud but we were sitting right up at the front with Bridgette. Of course, she had to be up front to see them play and take her videos. We truly enjoyed their music, mostly tunes we grew up with.

After all our busy-ness, we needed this freedom break!

I got up dancing a few times and yes, my legs and feet still know how to move. 😊 It has been a while, not counting the times I dance in our home. Brenda and Randy also arrived, as we’d invited them earlier, and we all had a wonderful time. Jean, the lead singer turned the volume down after the first set and that made listening much nicer on my old ears. Talking was a different story, I find it hard to hear in one ear when the other one is open to music. I don’t like having to ask people to repeat, repeat, repeat. Darn this getting old business!

It was a great evening and even better that we were able to surprise both Bridgette and Chris with our arrival. I could hear the pride in Bridgette’s voice as she introduced me to her friends, (‘this is my Mom’) and my heart swelled each time. ♥ With big hugs goodbye, we were off for home around 9:30. The band played from 6 to 9:15 so it was a perfect date for us oldies. 😊 We were in bed at 10:15 and I know I dropped off instantly.

I'd say a good time was had by all.
