We Made It! Welcomed by ‘Family’ ♥

Park Place RV Park

We were up by 6:00 on Wednesday, Nov. 1st to welcome this new month. It can come because we are in the land of sun and warmth. 😊 Gibbs and I slipped out for a walk around the park. We were packed up and on the road by 7:30, pulling out of Pilot Knob soon after. No point in dragging our heels, we had a site waiting for us.

Gibbs and I watched the sun come
up on our walk this morning

We got on I-8E and caught S. Fortuna Rd before turning onto I-95E. It was an easy drive, one we’ve taken many times before. The sun was warming things up already at 7 am; it was 60F/14C. By 10, we were checked in with Susan at Park Place RV Park and assisted into our site by John. Slides were out and Bill set to work outside, emptying the basement. We received a few ‘welcome back’ greetings and they are all appreciated, as we are happy to be back.

Not too many trailers at Pilot Knob - yet.

If Gibbs could talk while we are packing up:
"Daddy's getting in the truck, Mom"
"Why isn't he taking me?"
"I need to get out there!"
and so on.
Little Mr. Anxious, he is.💗

Inside, I began removing things from cupboards to make organization out of chaos. Things sure shift around no matter what we do. However, it is always good to take stock of what we have, especially in the canned/boxed goods pantry. With that done, I did a dusting downstairs and swept the floors. I even got a couple of Hallowe'en/Thanksgiving ornaments out of our cupboard. Now, it feels like home; we are here for 5 months.
😊

The drive today.
Through Yuma Proving Grounds,
The surveillance blimp,
Mountains and blue sky.

We made it!

We had lunch, egg salad sandwich for Bill and chicken salad sandwich for me. They were both good! He had managed to get everything done within a couple of hours and we were putting my gazebo up when we had surprise visitors. I wonder who drives a bright yellow Jeep? We visited with Tom and Deb for a nice 45 minutes, and then they left for their off-grid camp spot down the road.It was so good to see them, besides our friends in the park, the second long time rv friends that we’ve seen so far.

Gibbs is happy to be here too.

Bill went into town to get our two water bottles filled and pick up a couple of things. While he was gone, I checked out the laundromat and took one load over. I had to wait for a washer but was soon able to get it going. I visited with Rick, Patti, Sheila and Joanne behind us while it washed. Rick (& Patti)has a new puppy, Buddy, so he honoured me and sat on my lap. What a gentle little man he is. Gibbs will be jealous.

Meet Buddy, with his new owners
only 1 week. Such a calm puppy.

It was dry, folded and put away by 5:30 and that was the most important load. Either tomorrow or Friday morning I’ll do the last one or two loads. It has been 2 weeks since we did the laundry. Good thing we have lots, nothing had to be turned inside out! 😊 Bill was busy looking after his airplanes this afternoon. He was charging his plane batteries so he can head off to the field in the morning. He is excited! We both are, to be here among friends.

We saw friends/fellow fliers Carol Ann and Kobus from B.C. pull in this afternoon and will catch up with them tomorrow. They have also arrived for the winter. For supper, we had French toast using up the rye bread that we’ve had in the fridge. It was starting to turn so we thought this was a good way to eat it up. It was delicious! My frypan is huge compared to the size of the burner so it took longer than I expected, turning the pan often.

Our site (#29) at Park Place until Mar. 31st/24

This was nice for a change.

Bill loaded the dishwasher and with windows open, Starlink set up, planes charged and plans for tomorrow already, it doesn’t seem like we just arrived today. 😊 This has been a wonderful day and will be a quiet, perhaps early evening.

Big sigh. 15 days after leaving the Ridge,
we arrive at our winter home.
It feels wonderful to stop after 10 days on the road.
Good night!

Thank you for popping by. Bill has a brief post tonight too.

  8. So happy you made it safely, and without any more issues. You normally don't stay put for the five months. You must really like this park and your friends! Enjoy.
