The Big Tent Opens

On Saturday, Jan. 20^th, it was opening day for the 41^st Annual Quartzsite Sports, Vacation & RV Show. We were up by 6:30 and after a quick breakfast and a walk with Gibbs, we were out the door.

The sky was very strange looking this morning
at 7:15. Still pretty though. 

Nancy walked across and Black Beauty left the park at 7:45. It pays to be early and we always like to get a good parking spot plus be in the door as early as possible. Every place we go, we are usually early, why should this be any different? 😊

Gibbs had a standoff this morning on our
walk. The cat just stared as they do. LOL

We met Sarah (h or no h?), Ken and Kim’s daughter before the gates opened at 9 and went our own ways. This year, Bill and I didn’t have much of a wish list but were open to whatever we might find that we ‘had’ to have. The one thing for sure were the Yak Cheese bones for Gibbs and we found those easily enough. He loves those bones! There were a couple of things Bill was interested in but will look again on our next visit. There will be another one for sure!

As we left, I remembered to take a picture
of the entrance.

Nancy and I walked together, collecting anything ‘free’, mostly candy but some chap stick, bag clips and even a level. We were close to Bill most of the way and then met up with him outside when we were all done. 😊 Before heading home, we offloaded our bags of freebies and walked through 4 or 5 motorhomes. Chris was a nice salesman from Oregon and enjoyed showing Nancy around. It was fun.

It was very busy, just like before Covid.
Yay!

Something very interesting and coincidental happened while we were looking at the 2013 Newmar Aire. Two guys were talking to all of us and after they walked away, Bill said 'didn't that look like the two we met at Silent Valley RV Park?' It rang true and we had each recognized them from somewhere. They were gone before we found them again so lost the opportunity to find out if they were who we thought.

In a 2003 Monaco, Bill pointed out the
aged console dials. Wow!

Back home just after 11:30, we each let the pups out for their business. We had lunch and the rest of the afternoon was pretty quiet. I managed to finish all the body parts of the dog in my crochet project so now comes the next part – finishing. That means attaching and bringing the dog to life. 😊

I sat at my laptop and looked up my blog post from Feb. 2017 and were both convinced that they were Jeff and Pat We'd had a good time with them in that park. I emailed Pat, as we'd communicated in the following years a couple of times. He confirmed that it was them..........what???!!! That's crazy! So, we're meeting up with them at their park here in Quartzsite tomorrow. 

Supper was good.

Gibbs and I had our walk and for supper, we had air fried chicken strips, mashed potatoes and a vegetable. It was good!

I finished working on my blog and admit that my ankle is bothering me a bit this afternoon. I’m sure it will be better in the morning. We reached a high of 72F/22C and it was quite pleasant. With chances of rain in the forecast overnight and the next couple of days, our temperatures will drop a bit again. This has been a great da and we enjoyed the big tent!

There were too many dogs at the show
in our opinion. They weren't happy and must
have been frightened.
This dog, however, a vendor's pooch was quite
content not to be under everyone's feet.
