An Easy Day Hanging at Home

The Ridge

On Friday, June 14th I came downstairs around 7 to say goodbye to Bill. He was leaving a few minutes early to fuel up in Durham. Ptooties drives about 2 hours daily so she gets thirsty more often than Black Beauty does. Diesel and regular gas are the same price in town right now, at $1.51/litre. He left and Gibbs and I sat while I finished my tea and played my online games. I’ve not started a book yet so that also gets me moving.

Good morning!
This was last night's sky - post storm.
Incredible!

There isn’t a lot going on today so when M called and asked if I could pop over before 10 to help him with something on his phone, I decided to walk over. It was a beautiful morning so with a light hoody and shorts, I enjoyed getting out there. I’ve been so lazy as far as walking. When I left his place, I headed back to the north on Baptist Church Road to the 5th laneway before turning for home.

This morning's pond view,
you can hardly see it now!

Today was to be cooler than yesterday, with gusty winds off and on. The rain had stopped last night around 8 and the sky cleared. Neither of us like winds like that, they were pretty wild with driving rain from west to east. We watched a movie together last night and it was one of those cutesy ‘feel good’ movies with a couple our age finding each other.  Quite funny too, and, not mushy like some others. 😊 Definitely not Hallmark but nice to sit with my sweetie!

The 3 geese families running to the pond
to get away from little ole me.
As Bill said, they survived the storm. ♥

Gibbs and I spent time together outside and walked down the lane to mail a card. I decided just before noon hour to go into town and pick up some Epsom salts to bathe his foot. We never seem to have any on hand when we need it. When I got around the corner, I saw M was out so pulled in to see if he had any we could borrow. Yay! Saved me a trip into town.

Around the corner is M's patchwork residence.
On the right, is the walk back home on North Line.
Recognize the tree?

Back home, Gibbs let me bathe his foot for 5 minutes and quite liked it in the warm water. It looks better today, mostly because he hasn’t been licking it as much. 😊

Yummy.

I made a batch of Cheddar Broccoli Soup today for my lunch, or rather Madame IP did that for me. So easy, and by 12:30, I was able to have the first serving. The rest of the day was puzzling, another walk to check the mail box and more puzzling. Bill was home before 5 and came in for a snooze.

Our gate garden is coming along nicely.

I don't know if you can see them in the
top picture, but there were 5 Chippy's eating the bird seed
and chasing each other.
Bottom picture, Gibbs chased one, where did he go?
Looks like a Pointer rather than a Cockapoo.

Since Gibbs joined him upstairs, I went back out and finished the puzzle. The sun was beautiful today, hot, but when the clouds covered it, it was actually cool. The winds didn’t help but it was still a lovely day.

I won't complain about our feathered visitors
but holy cow, did they ever empty those feeders fast!

Tadah! One piece missing but such a fun one!

Supper was gooood!

We reached 20C/69F at its peak and a cooler night again. We’re still riding the roller coaster but we’ll be in mid 30’s C/90’s F in a few days. I had a nice quiet day with my little cuddle bum. Thank you to those who were concerned about the storm. It got very windy with strong rains for about 30 minutes but we survived! 💓

My Corral garden on the west side is turning
out nicely too.
Good night!

Thank you for popping by!

    1. ha ha you make me laugh. First the shrimp comment and then the winter comment. I admit we have the best of both worlds, not too hot, not too cold.

  2. I have the same problem with Cooper and one foot. He licks it constantly ... the old ant bite. The Vet said to put hair spray on it ... didn't work. Deodorant ... didn't work. No-Lick stuff ... didn't work. I'm at a loss!!

    1. I'd try an Epsom salt soak, daily. Gibbs doesn't mind standing in the water, in the sink, but only for about 5 minutes. Can't tell if it is working.

  3. Your hill garden looks nice Pat. Hmmm I forgot about shrimp as well. Will have to watch for it on sale. I buy the un-battered ones though.

  4. The wildlife in your yard provides entertainment for you and Gibbs. Obviously those chipmunks have little fear of him.
Glad you made it through the storm!

    1. Thank you Maebeme. The chipmunks sit there when I come out but when Gibbs goes out at a run, they don't hesitate! haha

  5. Your place is looking great these days. It's also great that Gibbs has learned to stay close without being leashed.
