First Leg of our 2025 Journey

The Ridge

On Friday, Oct. 17th we were up and getting ready - slowly - to depart the Ridge. It was 7 o'clock when I got up and I know I could have stayed there longer. Isn't that always the way? We had a nibble of yogourt for breakfast and right on queue, at 9 am, we were pulling down the lane.

Good morning!
Isn't this gorgeous?
East and south views.

All hooked up and
ready to go.

By the time Bill closed the gate behind us, it was 9:10 and we were off! It was a cool morning, just above the freezing mark, and the sky was cloudy. By the time we pulled onto Northline, the rain drops had begun but nothing too heavy for half of our drive at least.

Closing the gate for the final
time this year

As we neared Woodstock, we turned onto Bridgette's road and stopped in front of the house. No way could we get up their lane in between all those lovely trees. She came out to meet us and we got great goodbye hugs. I am complete now and can head south. 💖

There is my lovely daughter
coming down a pretty lane to meet us.

The rest of the trip to London and Can Am was uneventful and we entered a very busy parking lot. A lot of rv owners store their trailers here over the winter and just happened to be dropping off as we were juggling for an overnight spot to park. 😉

It started spitting early

Dave, one of the staff, was only too happy to help us get situated and it wasn't long and we were settled in. Bill plugged us into power and went in to talk to Rob about the issue we have on the Suite.

The drive across the city was
ridiculous!

It wasn't long and a conclusion was drawn that we would be fine for the winter and we made an appointment for a spring repair. It could be costly, correction, it will be costly, we're sure. In the meantime, we are settled here nicely for the night in CanAm's lot with hookup to hydro.

The sky was funky tonight.
Woops! The sun is behind the street light.

At 3, we hopped in Black Beauty and drove across town to Jim and Sharon's. They are one couple we won't leave without seeing IF at all possible. The city of London is a nightmare to drive across, always was,but now it is worse. Possibly it is because we live in small town Durham and are spoiled. The construction is everywhere.

It was great to see our friends, and we both notice that Jim looks better than the last time I saw him. He admits to feeling better as well with a new(ish) treatment. I'm so happy about that. Glad we were able to fit them in for a visit.

We grabbed supper at A & W
Uncle Burgers never let us down.

On the way back across the city, (45 minutes to their place and 30 minutes home), we stopped at A & W for supper, each getting our favourite Cheddar and Bacon Uncle Burger combo. Since it was on Colonel Talbot Rd., we just brought it home to eat. Delicious!

I was keeping an eye on this sky,
it was so pretty and the view right out
our kitchen window.

We had a message from Ken and Kim asking if we were up for an evening visit tonight. They would drive in from Ingersoll so, of course, we said YES. We only saw them once this summer so this was very welcome. They arrived around 7 and, as usual, our visit went fast, full of chatter and laughs.

Kim brought me a bag of paper........wonderful, glorious, colourful, great for background, PAPER!  😀 I am so excited! It wasn't going to be as cool overnight so we may not have to have any heat while we sleep. Always a bonus.

This didn't last long but my,
worth watching for.

What a great day! It was a pleasant 18C/65F here while Priceville was reading cloudy and almost 20 degrees cooler. 😔 We have taken the first step to our winter travel and pull out early in the morning to cross the border.

In case you were curious,
Gibbs is trying to figure everything out.
Leash? What is going on?
He was a little imp tonight, wanting
to go out, again and again,
but he was really a good boy all day.
Good night!

Thank you for popping by.

  5. I am not fond of driving in bad weather, especially when it could be snow. City traffic? Same here ... I live in the country where you rarely have to slow down for traffic. Take your time and enjoy the ride. The best part ... eating out!!! Hugs and pets for Gibbs!

Somehow I've missed the last post. Glad you were able to get a number of visits with friends and family before getting away.
