What a Gorgeous Day for Driving!

Texas Travel Information Centre, Amarillo

On Tuesday, Oct. 21st we basically got up, when we woke up. That means Bill and Gibbs were up early, around 6 and I was the straggler, around 6:30. Bill was checking our route for today. He catches up on his FB feeds and friends.

Good morning!
Let's start with a few pictures from
last evening.

We each had our yogourt, even Gibbs had his teaspoon full before I got the little bum equipped with his coat and collar. Bill brought the Starlink dish inside and we pulled slides in, jacks up and were on the road by 7:40.

It was 56F/13C under clear sunny skies. I was quick enough to catch the sunrise too before we left. Within 15 minutes, we crossed the Oklahoma state line. We made a couple of stops for fuel today, one early morning and one at noon where we also ate our lunch.

Oklahoma and a sneaky look
from Gibbs.
More pictures, Mom?

I thought this was funny.
Except for the typo (side instead of wide),
I wanted to know what this thing was.
AI even included the gps detail.

I used 2 cameras today, Bill's Canon power shot and my phone so some pictures will have 'inscriptions', others won't. Bill wanted access to some pictures for his blog too. You may see some duplicates, oh well. 😂

It was just a straight forward day with half decent roads and the normal construction with slowdowns, although I've included a couple of interesting notes from Google/Ai to explain a couple of photos.

The Scissortail Bridge at
Oklahoma City is always
picture worthy.

Oklahoma City was easy enough to travel through on the interstate but, as usual, construction tends to make it interesting.

The casino travel centre in Geary, OK where we stopped for fuel had some pretty mini sunflowers. Of course, I had to get a picture when butterflies visited. 😍

We arrived at the familiar (to us) Texas Travel Information Centre in Amarillo, Texas for the night. It was a perfect 73F/23C and the sky was clear blue with warm sunshine.

I love the story behind this
Leaning Tower of Britten

Bill and Gibbs went up for a snooze while I made myself a cup of tea. Our batteries were topped right up from the day.

My boys went up for a snooze
after we were set up.

For supper tonight, we had chili on toast and settled in to watch some tv for the evening.

A nice place for the night,
we've stopped here many times and
brought a few rv'ers here as well.

It was an easy route on I-40W but sometimes easy means boring for the driver so I know Bill was tired. You can check out Bill's blog here for the route map.

Just before supper, this man
pulled in. Explained why he was
parking so close. Nice man.
Good night!

Thank you for following along.

    1. I would have loved that. Lost my son to cancer last year and anytime I see his turbines it makes me smile. He loved his job and the company was so good to him the end of his life.

  4. I wonder how long the water tower will lean? Will it eventually fall over? Looks like a perfect day for traveling.

    God bless.
