The Ridge

On Monday, May 4th, we fell back into the work week routine. Bill was up before 6 and on his way to work before 7. It is about a 90 minute drive, I may have said that already but he is getting used to it and is usually home by 5:30 at the latest.

Good morning.
This Chickadee is enjoying
his breakfast.

I got myself up and moving by 7, had some yogourt and drove into town. The Mat had one customer with laundry on the go and she was in and out as the machines finished. The change machine was not accepting paper bills so I message Sandy to have a look.

How is that a dog's
golden locks are much thicker
than mine?
Love these curls.

Bill had a mishap with his work coat yesterday when he dumped our black tank (no more about that! 🀭🀫) so it needed washing. I threw in his ball cap and a pair of my garden jeans as well. I left there and popped into Foodland.

I was happy to see our Carbonaut seeded bread was on sale so grabbed the last 3. It is frozen when we buy it so I know it will stay good. Also, the Oikos yogourt, 4 pack, were $1.20 off so I picked out 4 packs so Bill has some for lunches. It was a good time to shop!

Cleaning up the brush and logs
was tiring, so sitting on the
ground for breaks was necessary.

One last stop at Mark's water depot to fill a jug and I was on my way home. It is turning into a beautiful day! I came in and caught up on my games and your blogs postings before Gibbs and I went out to work. A couple of pieces of toast and peanut butter hit the spot around 10 with my coffee.

And sitting on the ground,
was Gibbs' cue to join for some
cuddling.

I removed the fence at the back of our Suite, behind the evergreens, and gathered the clippings and logs that used to be the scruffy apple tree back there. That saves Bill from doing it. Tomorrow, I'll stack the logs as we can't use them for a year anyway. I was kapooped and since it was lunchtime, I took the break.

Gibbs found a piece of wood
that he liked.
He wanted to bring it in the house
but that is a no-no.
So, he decided to stay outside
with it for a while.

After lunch, at which I wasn't hungry so just had yogourt, I opened up my 5 new garden bags and added enough dirt to make all 8 bags easy enough for carrying up the hill. That's what my garden will look like this summer. I don't need a raised garden! I think it will work just fine.

I will carry them up the hill
to my garden area and
then finish filling them up
there.
Ready to plant - soon!

Then, it was time to sit. There were white fluffy clouds floating across the blue sunny skies the whole time I worked but when I stopped, the strong gusty winds made it feel cool when they covered the sun.

When I walked down the lane, it
was quite apparent how much we
cut down last fall.

Back and forth, hot and cool, but I remained outside and started a Janet Evanovich book. Gibbs must have been bothered by the wind and wanted to stay inside when we came in for my afternoon cup of tea at 3:30. Bill messaged his eta so I walked to the lane for the Canadian Tire flyer.

Then it was time to sit with
my book and enjoy the
sun.

He drove up the lane at 5 and after washing and changing, he was asleep within minutes. 🀫 I'm so not surprised. I'd pulled sausage out for supper but it is too windy for bbq'ing. I started them in Rosy, my air fryer, around 5:45. He had his in a bun and I cooked squash for my side.

I cleaned up the pot while Bill made his lunch for tomorrow. Gibbs sat quietly in my chair, ever watchful, making sure a few pieces of cheddar landed in his dish. 🐢🦴 Seldom is he disappointed. It was a lovely day, reaching 21.11C/70F by mid afternoon.

Supper was good.

The evening was quiet and I watched tv until bedtime, which for me is usually 10 pm if not sooner. I hope you enjoyed your day too!

in the shade.
This is last May 4th, 2025.
Good night.

Thank you for your visit.

  1. I'm interested to see how your garden bags work ... and I'm glad you got a little warmer weather today.

    1. Thank you MT. I've used the 3 - 10gal bags for a couple of years now and am pleased with them. This year I have 5 - 7 gal to add to the mix. They are easier to move around. I wouldn't have to move them so much if I had the perfect sun/shade spot, but I have yet to find it.

  2. You are such a busy beaver! I wish I could get HALF my energy back that I used to have. My days go quickly but I don't seem to get much done.
What size are your garden bags? We talked about this a while ago. I'm not sure what mine are. Maybe I'll get outside this morning and do some cleanup. I just need some ambition that either the cancer or the meds have taken away.πŸ˜’. Soon I'll be back to normal I'm hoping.

  3. Seems there is a lot of cleanup to do so I'm taking advantage of the nice days before planting season. 5 of the bags are 7 gallon and my first 3, are 10 gallon.
I'm praying your energy comes back too and I think once the nice weather comes and stays, you'll push that cancer out of the way and get to it! ♥
