Moving On to Quartzsite, Az
Pilot Knob RV Resort to La Posa South, Quartzsite, Az
On Friday, Jan 7th I was up and out with Gibbs for our walk before 7:30. Only Loyal was out and about for a greeting this morning and for some reason, Gibbs is shy of him. We can’t figure it out. He even had his hoodie and gloves off but it made no difference. ☹ Back home, we had breakfast, all 3 of us. I’m really enjoying the baked ‘oatmeal’ that I made. It’s a way to eat a hot breakfast keto style (which means no oats/wheat). I have one more serving and I’ll be making another batch.
Now, I've seen just about everything. If you look closely, you not only see 2 cats in the tent but a tunnel that runs from the rv to it. How cool is that?
These pictures are from this morning's walk.
The trees here, this one an Arizona Sycamore, have to be drastically trimmed and yet they are so hardy to just keep on growing.
We caught a wee sighting of the sunrise.
We had things pretty much packed up at 9:30 and could have left before 10 but I’d asked a favour of Bill. Could we slow our departure down until I met with the Poker Pool ladies for a group picture. He obliged and after pulling the slides in, I left him with my funky tripod and phone in hand. The ladies were all willing and able and although a few were sad to learn that we were leaving, others knew and wished us well.
I was testing the remote control on my funky tripod, so Gibbs posed.
After a few hugs from my favourite gals, I forgot Diane, and Bill was out front waiting for me, all hooked up ready to go. 😊 We were excited, not to leave our dear friends at P.K., but for another new adventure. This was a familiar one but you never know where you’ll end up and who you’ll end up meeting at the big Q. We’ve also never stayed for a month so that part will be new to us as well.
I'm thinking my camera was too far away for a good shot, but here we all are anyway!
I'm ready for a new story, Mom!
We left at 10:10 in 59F/15C under gorgeous blue skies and it was a straightforward drive from I-8E to I-95N.
We passed through the Yuma Proving Grounds and saw the blimp, something we always look for at Mile marker 51. Apparently, there are 8 of these, all part of the tethered Aerostat radar system owned and operated by the U.S. Customs and Border Protection. This is one, hovering some 15,000’ above the mountains. They are used for surveillance of the southern U.S. border. It's huge and looks like a white whale floating in the sky. We've also seen it tethered to the ground often.
Leaving one set of mountains for different ones.
We arrived at La Posa South, our favourite and so far, only, location near the Q LTVA. (Long Term Visitors Area). We paid our $40/2 weeks and drove back to find a spot. Our #1 spot was taken and our #2 looked like someone was in it as well so we went across the road and found what we think is a pretty good ‘site’. There is room for others and it will be up to our friends where they want to park when they arrive. The temperature rose to 72F/23C by the time we were set up. Beautiful!
It was a nice drive on a lovely day.
Once I’d opened everything up inside, we had a bite to eat. Because it was late, 1:30, we planned an egg supper of some sort. 😊 Bill had the solar panels tilted, the weather station up, the barbecue and satellite dish all set up by 3. It’s not only nice to have windows open to let the breeze in, but it’s nice that we won’t lose the sun until it is ready to set. At the park, unfortunately, it dropped behind the rv beside us before it disappeared from the western sky. That made it cool down earlier than I liked.
Bill up on the roof tilting panels and installing the weather station.
I finished my W.N. book last night so dug out a new one to start tonight. I boiled up some sugar water for the hummers and we’ll hang my feeder and our Hatch chili bell tomorrow. We sat in our chairs after 3 and did some dozing, all three of us, and turned the tv on to watch some NCIS reruns. With the full sunny sky, we had pretty good battery power. For supper, I made a yummy omelette in a toasted sandwich so Bill turned the genny on to use the toaster.
When I saw this sky, I knew it would be a killer sunset. Yay!
I was not disappointed.
During the cooking, I had to keep running outside and to the window to capture that glorious sunset. Already, I’m grateful for where we are. 😊 We turned the tv off at 6 and enjoyed the evening together with our books. From how we feel right now, no doubt we made a good choice in moving.
This was a great day from beginning to end. I hope yours was too!
Good night!
Thank you for visiting us here at the Q!

ReplyDeletePerfect for our first night!
DeleteNice that you three are all set up in Quartzsite and ready to enjoy the next 28 days. Beautiful pictures of the sunset.
ReplyDeleteThanks Doug. It was a lovely sky!
DeleteLovely sunset! Enjoy your time there - it sounds like it will be peaceful and quiet.
ReplyDeleteIt will be so different than the park and we are relishing in that. ☺
DeleteIt should be a good break from the social scene although you might miss the bocce ball or pool stuff, not to mention the puzzling!
ReplyDeleteThat's what we're looking for although things will be missed.
DeleteQuartzite does provide beautiful sunsets ... enjoy your time there :-)
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteYou know what would be interesting? Every once in a while show a picture or two from the same day last year. Would be quite the contrast.
ReplyDeleteThanks KCD. I've done that before and forgot about it! Good idea!
DeleteBeautiful sunset. Your words really reflect how "at peace" you are. Elva
ReplyDeleteThanks Elva and our second day was even better. :)
DeleteThat cat tent and tunnel are amazing. What a great way to keep your cats safe while camping. Love the sunset pictures.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
I've never seen a cat tent like it either! ;)
DeleteHope you enjoy your new location!
ReplyDeleteThank you, FG. Roughing it here! :)
