The Ridge
On Thursday, June 12th (already!!) after another great sleep, I got up before Bill left. Bill said it was a close call when he took Gibbs out at 6. He didn't see it until the little started running towards a skunk. He stopped, after 3 calls, and returned as the critter, tail up, stalked off into the long grass over the hill. Phew!

Good morning!
(that could have been not so good)
Not 'the' skunk but it was
a close call.
I started out with nothing on my agenda but that soon changed. I had my tea with Gibbs beside me and tried to make 'easy' plans for my day.

I guess I didn't take any morning pictures,
this is after lunch.
Jazz gets spruced up.
After 8:30 M called and asked about a run into town since I wasn't available toorrow. Good, that meant he wouldn't ask for Saturday. 😀 Last summer, I told him NO weekend calls and we got off on the wrong foot this spring. I'm changing that.
I had some yogourt, made my coffee and left at 10:30 to pick him up. It was just under the hour and I was back home again with $ in my pocket. It wasn't a huge surprise when Gibbs started barking around 1 and Bill drove up the lane. He didn't think he'd be all day.

After cleaning, I stopped for water.
We ate our lunch together and I got out my quilling. Still working on that project I mentioned the other day. My plants are all doing fine, we didn't get rain so I watered them earlier. Yesterday, I paid attention to the suckers on the tomato plants and plucked them off like a good little gardener. 😄

Waiting for the jug to fill,
I noticed this interesting cloud
holding the sun.
It could be a sun with a headdress.,
Bill wanted to give Jazz a good cleaning so brought her up to the patio area. Gibbs was in and out, not sure where he wanted to be. The sun was out, the sky clear and we had all afternoon yet. I can't believe we are almost half way through the month and I know I say that every month!
Shortly after 5, since Bill was still working away, cleaning and polishing, he suggested I go clean the Mat now instead of after we eat. Works for me! Off I went and there not only wasn't anyone in the building, there was also hardly any traffic. I loved the ease of getting around town.
When I finished cleaning, I got a water bottled filled at Battery Pro and returned home by 6:30. He had started grilling our burgers and they were good and filling. Almost too filling. Neither of us had any room for the custard dessert. 😉
Today, in the event that we didn't go anywhere tomorrow, meaning we would have Bridgette and Chris for supper, I made some Garlic Knots. They were done before ouir supper and they look pretty darn good!

Some clouds moved in this evening
making for a pretty picture.
However, our original plan for Friday is taking place so Bill and I will be eating those over the next few days. I sampled one and I think I can do better anyway so won't bother freezing them. In case you are wondering what that plan is, it is Friday the 13th, we have Jazz, and a pretty nice day ahead.

Here we are, new Lion's Club members
with our sponsors, Roz and Brian.
It was a fun night.
Port Dover here we come! Dot will look after Gibbs for us and we'll be off, God willing, pretty early in the morning. This has been a great day. A little of this, that and the other and our bike gear is ready for us. I hope you've enjoyed your day as well. We reached 19C/67F which is pretty nice. 💖
day of just how speedy these
turtles can move.
Good night!
Thank you for stopping around. Your comments are welcome and I try to answer each one.

Your entrance does look nice, and so happy Gibbs and the skunk didn't get to close :-) Have a fun trip.
ReplyDeleteThank you MT.
DeleteDo you know how lucky you were? OMG ... skunks are bad news!! You already know how I know!! Luckily I haven't had any here, but going into town, I smell them every day, so I know they are out there!!!
ReplyDeleteYes we are very lucky, this time. Fingers crossed he isn't around long.
DeleteA close call on the skunk for sure. Have fun on your expedition, hopefully the weather will hold.
ReplyDeleteThank you. A sunny day would be awesome but we'll settle for warm and dry!
DeleteI figured you'd see a skunk at some point, with the turtles laying their eggs. Glad Gibbs didn't get too close.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your day!
Yes, kind of inevitable, right?
DeleteI have to tell you a story. Harvey and Kris went fishing one day many years ago. They were walking back to the car from the dam and Harvey happened to look over at Kris who was a bit away from him. He said Kris glanced to the side and all of a sudden the fishing rod was thrown, as well as the tackle box and Kris took off running. Turned out a Mama skunk and her babies were walking pretty much beside him. They waited a bit and then went back and collected the fishing gear. Glad that Gibbs did not get very close to the visitor.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
I hope it's okay that I laughed at that one!! The skunks just act like they own the place.
DeleteOur neighbour just told us tonight that last summer he was having a beer after work on a Friday, standing in the garage door entrance. He looked down and a skunk walked right across on front of him. He slowly backed up into the garage. 🤣
