Walking in Bullhead City, Slide Satisfaction

On Sunday, Nov. 18^th we were awake and up to new surroundings by 6:30. Still dark but I opened the blinds anyway. Only our friends to see in our windows and I doubt they were up yet. Behind us is a hill of rock, stone and sand and occasionally (depending on the time of day) our quail friends. We are in Site 9 and I’m blown away by how empty the park is this time.

Things are very neat and old rv’s that seemed to sit with no inhabitants have been moved out and/or onward to rv heaven. It was too dark to walk but the temperature was lovely at 54F already. Bill and I had our morning brew and read a few recent blog posts from our friends. I didn’t go back any further than yesterday, mainly at this time, I just wanted to see where everyone was and what they were up to.

Then, with my tea finished, I went for a walk around the park. I do love this park. The wind doesn’t bother us and we were welcomed yesterday with some beautiful calm weather. The temperature today made a steady climb from the early morning 54F to mid-70’s by 2 o’clock. Perfect weather in our books. Bill and Rob had started yesterday on trying to fix our bedroom slide.

This morning, they did a double-take to see exactly what they’d need and drove into Bullhead City. I asked Pat if she wanted to walk with me around 10 so we headed out as the guys were just returning. We had a nice walk around the perimeter and into the clubhouse to check things out. I'd signed us all up for the park's Thanksgiving dinner on Thursday. It is a potluck so we'll need to have to come up with a contribution each.

With the purchase of a cable, clamps, eye bolts, a pair of bolt cutters and about 5 hours of labour, there were 3 smiling faces. They were thrilled that they were able to replace cables etc. and with only one break for coffee and cookies, very tired and dirty. Our bedroom slide was now moving in and out. Not perfect, but close to it. It just needed an eyeball on it each time.

When they finished around 2:30 and the slide was out, I made us each a sandwich. Our breakfast of bacon and eggs was early and we were hungry. This, of course, would throw us off for supper and the chicken thigh dinner I’d planned would not be necessary. No worries, there is always tomorrow night to eat them since they are now thawed. Bill sat inside with Clemson and his book until he dropped off into a snooze. That didn’t surprise me.

I sat outside in the sun with my book and came very close to finishing it. I’ve been working on this Delusion in Death for a while.  It has been a slow read at times and sometimes I found more detail and too many people to keep track of, but a good story all in all and I was anxious to find out ‘who dunnit’. Bill joined me outside for a while with a Seagram’s cooler until the cooler air drove me inside. The sun was going down behind Rob’s trailer and I was already sitting out by the truck.

 Once we decided that soup would be enough for supper tonight, at 4:30 I changed into stretch pants and a warmer top and took Clemson for a walk. He is quite a character, as they all are, trying to find that ‘perfect’ poop spot. My goodness! It is a good thing that us, as humans, don’t have to search then circle to satisfy the same thing. It was actually a nice walk and he got his exercise today.

I opened a can of low salt (noticeably so) chicken noodle soup and we had a couple of slices of freshly baked Italian bread with peanut butter. It was simple, tasty and filling. Bill was recording Madame Secretary while we watched American Pickers, one of the shows we enjoy. After all, we both visited their shop in Iowa last fall so we must like it.

I finally managed to get caught up on my blog posts today so I feel good about that. Whether you read them all does not matter to me. They are my memory of this trip and I need to have them on file, day by day. I hope you understand why I do a daily one to catch up instead of 2 or more days in one post. It’s the way I prefer reading posts and think maybe it is nicer for you too. That way, you can skip a day if you want to. And it also works better for me.

We cleaned up dishes and relaxed for the remainder of the evening. Bill has napped, I have not so I’m sure I will be in bed early. We have a busy day tomorrow of which I’ll tell you about …… tomorrow.
