Another Quiet Day

The Ridge

I really wanted to start this post off NOT talking about the weather today, Wednesday, May 6th. But it is so hard! Normal routines took place this morning with Bill up at 5:30 and on his way around 6:30. He did say he might be later tonight as they wanted to finish the high stuff while they had the lift. Got it.

Good morning!
Happy hump day.

Gibbs and I remained cozy in bed until a few minutes past 7. Next, I crawled out and was on my way in to clean the Mat just after 7:30. I checked our Wyze camera as I got to the end of the lane and watched Gibbs jump off the back of my chair and go up to bed. He has his habits too, just like us.

One regular customer in the laundromat this morning and since it was the first time this spring, we chatted and caught up. It was a bit of a b***h session for him, about the winter, house problems and fuel prices. It's okay, I kept working and let him vent. He's a nice man.

I cleaned the 3 big dryers today
and this wasn't a bad haul at all.

I left there and only had one stop at Impact Tire to buy our Catch the Ace tickets. Town was crazy busy, I had to go the long way around and catch the light just to get on to the main street. It's only Wednesday! Gas prices did go up yesterday, not .10¢ but .4¢ to $1.88/litre. Diesel didn't budge from $2.09/litre.

Back home, Gibbs went out and piddled and sniffed. He does love to be outside and doesn't mind the cold. Unlike me, once I'm indoors, I like to baby myuself and stay here. It's a cold morning, only 2.77C/37F and it was cloudy, to make things worse. I hope Bill and Billy are keeping warm!

This is where he spends a lot of his
day. Keeping watch. He gets down onto
the seat often too.
I guess it's not my chair anymore.

The rest of the day was working on my plaque and greeting cards. I need to get a bunch of cards made up ahead of time. Many that I have will go to family and friends for their special days. If, big if right now, I decide to set up a booth one day, I'll need some I can part with.

Oh! Nella did sell one of my cards and 2 bookmarks last week, so that's something at least! For lunch, I had another poached egg on toast and had a mishap in the making of it. LOL I thought I poked the egg in the custard cup before putting it in the microwave............you know how this ends. A mess!

This was a stamped
Hobby Lobby purchase
with my added touch.
The verdict is still out.

Oh well, it still tasted great but I cleaned it up first so it didn't harden in there. Yeuchy mess. Live and learn. Gibbs and I went down to get the Home Hardware flyer and a piece of mail for Bill at 1:30 and an order was delivered up here to me.

I did more quilling and some reading to pass the afternoon. Gibbs slept and kept watch over everything. He sees when Gord and Dot drive into the lane, so keeping watch over them (& the 3 dogs) too. 🤭 Bill 'guestimated' his eta at 6 and it was 5:35 when he pulled in.

Tasty supper!
We had one piece of cheesecake
for dessert and Bill is taking
the last one tomorrow for lunch.

Supper was thin pork chops fried in my electric pan, reheated potatoes and corn for Bill and broccoli for me. Surprise! I enjoyed the pork chop tonight and so did Gibbs. I didn't want to share, for once, but I saved him a wee bit to eat with his kibble.

Who else is a hoot?
Bill went to the Hangar until 8
and up he gets, not a peep, just
watching.
Look at his feet.
💕
Good night!

We cleaned up dishes, Bill made his lunch, I blogged and, when it was time, we watched Survivor. It has been quite entertaining this season with lots of twists. Loved seeing Jeff actually trying one of the challenges a couple of episodes ago. He's a hoot.

It was a good day. Thank you for stopping in. Your comments are always welcome.

  1. Ha. Weather is important! I guess if a person never goes outside, it's not. But most people do go outside, if they're lucky. It determines what's going to be done out in the world. So if you talk about it, I don't care, it's interesting!

  3. Your plaque would be a nice addition to a honey stand.
It might sell to someone for that reason.

  4. I was disappointed that Ozzy went home. I know it is the game, but what a bunch of backstabbers. Especially since Ozzy kept a couple of them safe a few times. Gas here in oil country is $1.84.9 a liter. My oil country being southeast Saskatchewan.

    God bless.
