Enjoying the Holiday Monday

The Ridge

On Monday, Oct. 10^th, commonly known as Thanksgiving Monday, we carried on with the ‘sleeping in’ protocol that’s been set since Saturday. I did have to clean but since it was almost 8 when we got up, that meant a late start for Durham. The place got busy within 15 minutes of my being there and from the lint I found in the dryer trays, I could tell it has been busy over the last couple of days. Good news!

Baptist Church Road towards home

I was on my way out the door for home by 9:15. The day started out with clear blue skies and a gradual warm up to a high of 12C/54F, it wasn’t too bad of a day at all. Bill took the garbage and recycle bins down before I left for town and they were full. This was our last pick up before we leave so it was important to empty all of the garbage bins from the 3 sheds and the outhouse. 😊

The Suite gets a bath

I don’t think Bill stopped at all until about 4 o’clock. He was a busy beaver all day. He got the pressure washer out and washed the Suite. While he did that, I vacuumed and dusted the woodwork inside. Gibbs chased the vacuum and kept an eye on his Daddy outside the windows at the same time. The truck got vacuumed out and Bill finished getting his planes stored in the homemade box he made in the truck bed.

Yesterday, he got the rain barrel emptied and upturned for the winter, our fire pit washed and stored, the hose has been blown out and put away with the reel, the barbecue was cleaned and ready for storage and the large patio mat has also been folded and packed. Donna and Gerry were packing things up at the Acreage today too so we went over to help take down their shelter canopy.

We didn’t stay long but long enough for us to catch up about yesterday’s dinner and for Gibbs to run around the property for his exercise. ♥

Back home, we had a bit of a snooze/rest while watching some tv. I prepared (reheated) a fully cooked ham with baby potatoes, squash and corn for supper. It was our own little Thanksgiving meal. With a piece of pecan pie for dessert, it was perfect!
