On Tuesday, Oct. 11th we knew from the forecast and the looks of the sky that it was going to be a wonderful day. That means a perfect day to get some more things taken care of, things that depended on good weather. 😊 Of course, we slept in a bit, getting up around 7:30, but then got right to it.
Gibbs and I started out the day by clipping the lilies and carting them up with a few apples Then - 'we' rested on the berm |
Bill drove to Hanover to get oil and a filter for Jazz as we decided to take advantage of the sun and the 20C/68F temperatures. Gorgeous! After he left, I had my cereal and at 9:40 drove around the corner to M’s. He’d asked if I would follow him in his Lincoln to his mechanics and bring him back. Poor guy, he has the worst luck with vehicles. Good thing he still has his old pick up on the road for trips into town.
Gibbs and I followed Bill to Durham I was so envious of this last ride on Jazz 💗 |
That took about 45 minutes and Bill and I returned home around the same time at 10:30. He set to work, with some challenges, changing the oil and filter. Gibbs and I took the wheel barrow down to the end of the lane so I could trim the tiger lilies. I kind of waited too long as now they were all drooping over the perennial geraniums, making for a more difficult task.
Daisy sits at her Dad's feet She has the strangest eyes but that just makes her unique |
I finished that and Bill was mostly done before we came inside for some lunch. I cleaned up the leftover pot pie and Bill made a sandwich. At 12:45, I took Gibbs in to Bath and Biscuit for his last grooming in Ontario. 😊 He is a pretty fluffy little fellow right now, as you can tell by the pictures, but quite adorable in his coat. ♥
Bill checks the oil and disconnects the battery before we leave the bike in storage in Murray's barn |
However, it was time and we’ve noticed that he’s been sleeping on the floor upstairs for part of the night meaning he’s hot. I followed Bill on Jazz, into town, although he had no idea that I was behind him. I got a chuckle out of that later! I stopped to drop Gibbs off and then carried on to Murray’s near Hanover. This is where we store our vehicles over the winter.
While Gibbs was in town, we dismantled the bike/mower shelter Just the cover, the frame stays |
Back home, we took advantage of not having a little guy at our feet and took the storage shelter top off for storage. He would only want to help, getting in the way of our feet. 😊 I drove back to town to pick him. Good thing we love him so, it is getting quite costly to get him groomed now. Kate does a great job and says that he is a ‘pretty’ good boy – other than not liking his feet getting trimmed.
In town to pick our 'new' puppy up this truck caught my eye At first I thought it was Rob's Gibbs and I sat on the bench for a few minutes |
Here he is!! He looks so small now! |
Bill had removed the foot valve from the pond/pump operation and put the pump away. There sure isn’t much left to do – maybe we should head out sooner! Ha ha, no that would mean coming back sooner and we like the mid-April return for up here.
Another ham meal and cleaning up the pecan pie I'm loving the pepper squash, by the way |
It has been an awesome day. We had leftovers for supper, ham, fried potatoes and a veggie. Oh yah, one last piece of pecan pie for dessert. ♥
If you check our forecast, you'll see why this was the best day to do what we did Good night! |
Thank you for popping in. Your comments are always welcome!
Nice to have good days when packing to leave. Hope we have more. Sounds like you're getting close.
ReplyDeleteIt sure is nice. We are very close!
DeleteYou had a lovely day to continue your tasks to get ready to leave.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
Yes, we did. Thankyou.
DeleteGibbs looks very spiffy with his new haircut. Is Daisy an Australian Shepherd?
ReplyDeleteGibbs says thankyou. 💗
DeleteWe think Daisy is a collie mix.
It is nice to get everything done early and not have to rush right before you leave. We are also way ahead of prep ... we must all be anxious to head south again :-)
ReplyDeleteHaha, i believe you are right!
DeleteI just love the cooler weather. Gibbs is such a card ... sitting up like a good little boy!!
ReplyDeleteWe like leaving the cooler weather behind!! Haha 😄
DeleteGibbs is a card for sure.
Awww..Gibbs is so cute! Sure he feels better with his haircut especially when he gets down south! :) You really are getting things done quickly!
ReplyDeleteWe're ahead of the game this year, a bit anxious as well as more prepared each year.
DeleteMy first comment doesn't appear to have published so I'll try again. :)
ReplyDeleteGibbs is adorable with his new cut. I'm sure he'll appreciate it when you head south.
As for getting things done early, it will give you a chance to relax before you hit the road. Maybe you'll get a chance to ride Jazz a few more times before the weather is too cool.
Don't you hate that, when a comment disappears?
DeleteGibbs is shivering today so has his jacket on.
I agree about the being ahead of the game to relax a bit and plan our route.
It certainly was a great day. We went for a long drive to see the fall colours.
ReplyDeleteIt was a beautiful day for that!
