Park Place RV Park
It started raining around 7:20 this morning as we remained in bed for just a few more winks. I had a bad start to my night’s sleep for some reason. I went up to bed at 10:15 after bringing 2023 in with Bill and Gibbs. It’s confusing to write, and my blog post yesterday may have sounded silly…..but, we watched the ball drop in Times Square at 10 while our family and friends watched it back home at midnight. Same time, different time zone. 😊
Last night while we watched the Nashville New Years
Eve special, Gibbs dropped his chewy bone
between our chairs
He was pretty focused on my hand as I
picked it up
I dropped
off immediately with Gibbs snuggled close but then 15 minutes later I was awake
and couldn’t drop off again. I tossed and turned, felt wide awake right up
until Bill came to bed at our midnight or later. I saw the clock read 12:30 and
that was the last time I looked, falling asleep on my back which is unheard of
for me. Weird.
This is the first morning sky of 2023 |
Last spring, I saw this poor Saguaro
and today I wondered how it remains standing
with all the holesthis Inukshuk must be a marker
for a trail out in the desert
My sister
and hubby, Gayle and John, arrived in Quartzsite last night from Florida. After
a few long driving days, they pulled just off the road into Roadrunner BLM - in
the dark. We invited them for NY dinner today so they didn’t have to worry
about preparing a meal today when they were just settling in. Bill and I had a
light lunch and I went to the clubhouse to start the next 500-pc puzzle. Gibbs
and I had our walk and then I ventured out on my own for 30 minutes.
The house smelled nice with incense
before guests arrived
And then with the roast it smelled even better
Gayle and
John arrived around 4:30 and the chuck roast had just finished. The asparagus
was steamed, gravy made and the mashed potatoes from the freezer (Christmas Day’s
leftovers) were heating in the microwave. Supper was a success and we topped it
off with a strawberry rhubarb pie. I meant to take a picture but you get the
idea, I’m sure. It was yummy! After a catchup, our company left, in the dark,
around 7.
Our friend, Carol Ann baked us a loaf of
fresh bread today and brought it over
after lunch
It was delicious!
The rain
started again after they left. We have a few large items that were shipped here
for them but we’ll see them in daylight over the next few days. We watched a
program on tv tonight that I found very touching. We lost Barbara Walters on
Friday and this show tonight ‘Our Barbara’ was great to watch. We’ve had a
great day with a whole mixed bag of weather. Not cold, not hot, wet sometimes,
cloudy and sunny sometimes, constantly windy though.
It was nice to see Gayle and John
to celebrate the New year
Good night
Thank you
for stopping by and All the very best of the things you value in 2023!
Happy New Year! I am sure it was nice to have Gayle and John for dinner and really nice for them after being on the road traveling. I did a double take reading your blog from yesterday for a second I thought that was snow not clouds on the mountains in that first picture...lol We did not have any rain down here but the wind kicked up a dust storm.
ReplyDeletethanks Deb. It was nice to see family again before they head off to Mexico.
DeleteHappy New Year to you both and thank you for all your posts!
ReplyDeleteWe all get to enjoy a bit of the Southwest with you.

DeleteAnother delicious dinner ... and fresh bread? YUM!! You can tell I'm all about the food. Nice to see Gayle and John made it safely.
ReplyDeleteThank you Nancy. :)
DeleteHappy New Year. That bread looks amazing and I'm sure the roast was delicious. Being able to share it with family is truly special.
ReplyDeleteThank you! It was a great meal and so glad to see Gayle and John arrive safely.
DeleteHappy New Year! Nice to have family visit especially during the holidays.
ReplyDeleteHope the rain stops soon - though I'm sure it is appreciated in the desert.
Happy New Year to you too! The rain never lasts here and yes they say it is needed. :)
DeleteHappy New Year to you and your sis and brother-in-law. That will be nice to have them spend some time with you. I had a bread maker onboard our boat and baked lots of bread because it was so easy with it and the smell as it was baking was wonderful.
ReplyDeleteSame to you Marlene! We sold our bread maker when we went fulltime, it's a big machine to carry along.
DeleteEnjoy 2022!
ReplyDeleteI think you've been a little heavy in the sauce F.G.! :) 2023 will be a good year.
DeleteHappy New Year. I am feeling better now, or at least on the way to feeling better.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
Thank you Jackie, same to you. I'm so glad to hear you are improving. HNY!
