A Full Algodones Day! Ola!

Park Place RV Park

On Tuesday, Feb. 18th Bill and Gibbs were up at 6 and since I’d asked for a ‘personal’ wake up call, he checked to make sure I was moving. 😊 Usually, he is very quiet and so is Gibbs when they make their first excursion outdoors. I did my stretches and prayed for a comfortable day so I didn’t slow anyone down – too much.

Leaving our area on I-95, heading towards Yuma
Palm Tree Canyon in the top picture
seems to be in fog.

Some pretty mountains
and some sky writing (pilot to pilot?)

We had secured a dog walker in our good neighbour, Bette, and left the Suite at a few minutes before 8. Stopping at the bank here in town ensured that we had a bit of spending money. It was Mexico day with the gang and we were quite excited to be included! We are a distance from them all at Olgiby Rd., about 2 hours, so it would have been acceptable for us to decline or them to just nip over without us. We’re so glad we/they didn’t do that!

We stopped at the guns in the Proving Grounds
to stretch my legs.
Looks like he'll miss the para-motor at least!

We met shortly after 10 in the big parking lot. After the drive, I was in a bit of pain and tried to walk it off before it became obvious. Nah, that didn’t work but throughout the first hour of the morning it eased and all was good. Great, actually! There were 10 of us and that makes for the best of times. There were a few places to visit so we made sure everyone got to where they wanted to be. 😊

Mexican workers in Yuma hard at it

The Wall always makes me stop and stare.
It is just so high and kind of freaky.

Joan and Dave were ‘new’ acquaintances to us, friends of Ken and Kim, and it was a treat to meet them both. We stopped for lunch at 11:30 at a new place the group suggested.

Time for a group photo.
Nice that some nice man ran over to include me.
The cow in the bottom right photo? He moved while we ate.
(this is my proof - private joke!)

Mi Casa Es Su Casa is obviously a Mexican food restaurant and we loved it! Bill had a delicious looking burger with fries (it had a roasted pineapple slice on it!) and I ordered the Big Burrito. There was no Little Burrito offered and it probably wouldn’t have been big enough anyway! Ha! It was delicious!

The food was awesome!

Bright Mexican colours.

After sitting, old gimpy had to limp along a bit again as we visited a few other places. We all got our drugs (no prescriptions required) and I picked up a few vitamins today as well. The deal on their Hall’s cough candies was too good to pass up, a 12-pack for $5.25, and these are handy to have in the house when those cold bugs sneak up on us. Thank you, Kim, for pointing them out. 😊

Bill's Pina Colada and Deb K's Bloody Mary.
My margarata was served in a styrofoam cup
so it didn't make for a good picture.

We stopped just after finishing our shopping for a drink at the courtyard restaurant. I can never remember the name of it, Palazzo or something. My blended lime margarita didn’t do it for me, but it’s my fault. I should have ordered the regular one, but it was refreshing if nothing else. Then………….we got in the line to cross back into the U.S. It was 2:55 pm.

The line was crazy long but at least
we were under cover.
On the right: Riley, Tom, Deb K, Deb D

Time to head out.
Bill, Kim and Ken walking to our vehicles.

It was the longest line ever and we finally went through the border check at 5:40. The good thing is that it was a wonderful time with our friends. We were home at 7:30 and were greeted by a happy little pooch. He had a good day, sleeping a lot, and he got his walks in with Bette, Annie and Della. We have the Wyze security cam on so until it got too dark, we could his little contented self up on the bed.

We had a cropduster display on our way back
through Yuma

We watched some NCIS reruns and were falling asleep by 9 so went to bed. It didn’t take long to drop off either. 😊 The temperature was perfect today for this. We were all sleeveless and comfortable in the 78F/26C temps.

It was, of course, a wonderful sunset but I
couldn't get a good picture while on the road.
Good night!

Thank you for your visit!

  2. The re-entry standards have changed. I think the wait time will be longer now. Especially when you leave at that time of day. I hope you don't have a lot of residual pain from walking. Isn't it nice when you're met at the door with Mr. Gibbs?

    1. Yes, the re-entry actually seems flawless but they always could use more staff checking us through. We knew the line would be bad that late in the day. Usually, Bill and I are out before noon, quickly. Everyone and his brother needs their last minute Mexico fix before heading home. :)

  3. I've been hearing that the line-ups to return are long, but you certainly took the longest. I guess the later in the day you leave, the more likely you are to run into a line-up?
