A Surpise Job

The Ridge

On Thursday, June 4th it was one of those easy, slow risings for me. It was 7 when I came downstairs, with Gibbs and his deflated 'doggie'. Bill wasn't in a big hurry, Billy wasn't picking him up until 7:30. Bill will pick Black Beauty up on his way home tonight.

Good morning!
My two favourite buys
in the whole world.
💘

Another hot day on the horizon, hottest yet. We'll take it and nary a complaint from this gal! We have a/c if and when we need it. Having windows on all sides of the Suite really helps us up here on the Ridge. No shade, true, but we do alright.

When Bill walked down the lane to meet Billy, I made my tea and Gibbs and I relaxed while I played my games. Sometimes that can be frustrating, not relaxing at all! 🤣 But I do enjoy the challenge - when I remember and do not get distracted.

He just realized I had my
camera out.
Time to pose!

Today, I was going to do 4 things but only 2 panned out and a new one fell in line. My plan:

#1 was to make a birthday card for my oldest granddaughter on Bill's side. (✔️)

#2 was to vacuum the Suite really well (✔️)and wash floors. (✖️)

#3 was to get in touch with a seller on Marketplace near me to arrange pick up of a rain barrel. (✖️)

#4 was to buy bird seed (✔️)and tickets for an upcoming event we want to attend. (✔️)I guess that's 5.

At 7:30, Robin texted from Nfld asking if I could clean the bnb today or tomorrow morning. Of course! I chose today, my normal time. I started on the greeting card before getting washed, making a coffee and heading out just before 11 am.

Driving to Williamsford
just wispy clouds.

The previous guests were there from Thursday night until Tuesday morning so I didn't know how it would be left. Let me tell you, these guests were very considerate. They did use 2 beds (only 2 of them) but had stripped one bed, put all their towels in the basket and I almost think they swept the floors.

The garbage cans were all emptied and outside in the bin, all dishes were done and put away (if they used any) and they didn't touch any of the 'free' stuff Robin has us put out. Granola bars, cookies, candies, water bottles and popcorn. Great guests!

This is the event Bill and I
will be attending.
A night out, it's been awhile.

I did take the extra time to dust everything and take the mop to the ceiling corners. A few Daddy long legs hanging out there! I was all done in 2 hours. On the way home, I stopped in Durham and bought our tickets for a tribute show in July at the town Legion. Looking forward to that!

I bought an 18 kg bag of birdseed for a great price and Josh from H.Hdwe kindly carried it to Ptooties for me. So, when I returned home, I didn't feel like getting the big vacuum out. Instead, the Dirt Devil did the job and they didn't get washed today. I did clean the bathroom cupboards, sink, toilet etc.

The grey tank needed dumping so because things have changed since our work in the winter, Bill called with the oh, so simple directions to care of that. Now that I've done it again, I'll remember. I'm terrible with stuff like that unless I actually have to do it myself.

Instead of showing you the card,
these are the birds singing to me
yesterday. all within 2 minutes.

Then, I was able to finish the greeting card. I'm quite pleased with it. Her birthday isn't until nearer the end of the month so I'll show it then. She'll be 19 so I hope she appreciates it. 🤷‍♀️ It did indeed get hot today, 27.22C/81F with NO humidity for a change.

I got out and watered my vegetables but our rain barrel (my source for water) is below the spigot line so I had to steal from the pails at each corner of the Suite. They collect rain from the small eaves. I have to do something for when it doesn't rain for days on end. Hopefully, tomorrow that will rectify itself.

Bill was home with BB at 5:30, tired after a long day. I know he doesn't like to delve right into eating so I held off until he gave the word to start. Tonight, we pretended it was Shrove Tuesday and had pancakes and sausages. I made my keto recipe for me and regular for Bill.

Supper was good.
I love these keto pancakes
although the maple syrup defeats
the purpose! 😂

Can't go wrong, with butter and maple syrup as toppings! We cleaned up the dishes and Bill relaxed. I knew he'd be asleep in minutes........the joke is more like 'seconds'. We finished Bosch Legacy last night so not sure if we'll find something else to watch together for a while.

Gibbs keeps an eye while Daddy
rests his eyes.

This was a busy enough day, but really a great day. I hope you can say the same. Lots of narrative but very little pictures. Sorry. We've been hearing about possible sightings of the Northern Lights tonight and tomorrow night...........so, I'll be watching!

On June 4th, 2019
we had a similar forecast.
Good night!

Thanks for checking us out all the same!

Even Nicer Today, Wow!

The Ridge

On Wednesday, June 3rd Bill was up even earlier than normal. Because he was taking Black Beauty to Harriston (40 miles) to meet Billy for 6:30 (!), he was up at 5 and on the road before 5:45. That made me feel bad - he didn't tell me he had to be there so early!

Good morning!
Last night's sky.
I probably missed the best part.

Trooper he is, and made it happen. He'll pick BB up after work. He also asked them to look at the tailgate issue if they have time. It needs to be fixed eventually. So, I was up by 7 and ready to leave for the Mat at 7:30. We had 3 spring jackets that we wear a lot so I took them for laundering.

It is another gorgeous day here in the neighbourhood. Hotter than yesterday with lesser winds. Oh my! I have to admit to falling asleep outside yesterday in my gravity chair and got more sun than I usually like to get. So, that meant today was not going to see me facing the sun!

So, his new doggie had an accident
last night with the help of someone's
teeth. LOL

When I got to town, I went directly for water and just before I left Battery Pro, Mark drove in. We chatted briefly and I went to clean. Sandy hadn't dropped my pay off yet, unusual, so I messaged him as a reminder. He has forgotten me before!

Little Mr. Innocent,
he was enjoying that sunshine.

He called me pretty quickly and explained. We got a laugh over it. No worries, I can wait until the weekend. Because it is all under the table and he runs a separate business (or two) he doesn't like to do the e-transfer thing. Me neither, I like the cash.

When I told him I had to go to work.
This is the sweet face I get.
He still takes his treat like a champ
and accepts his duty.

When I left there, I came straight home, forgetting about stopping at Foodland for some of their specials AND forgetting our C the A tickets. Duh. Back home, I hung our jackets on the line and because of the nice weather that has arrived to stay, I took the two windows out of our screen door.

It is nice to have the breeze coming in now. More than nice, actually, quite refreshing. I hopped in the shower and placed an order on line before sitting with Gibbs to play my games. At noon, I had a poached egg on toast and that reminded me that we needed bread.

Coming in from our road,
this is the opposite view of
what you've seen.

I had a couple of skirts that I wanted to change up so I would wear them..........so, got my sewing machine out. Ha ha, that's scary, I am not a sewing enthusiast in that regard. One of the long skirts was bought at the Arizona Market with Patty and Duncan.

I love the patterns in this
skirt and now I will wear it.
The leftover piece? It is about
6' long and about 16" wide.
🤷‍♀️

It is lovely but too long and flowy (gypsy-like) to wear anywhere that would require sitting. I'd be tripping over it. I noticed one of the seam layers had a 3" separation............so I tore the bottom 2 tiers off. Now I'll wear it!

This one I love too but
although the top fits, the skirt
is too narrow around the waist.
I'm not done with it yet!

The other skirt, is fun but too small. I bought it and a short top for $4 with my Musketeer ladies. My thought was that I could do some creative altering to make the skirt fit. Hmm. Well, I did the same thing and took the bottom 2 tiers off and stitched a new hem. Now to see if I can extend the waist with what's leftover. 🤔 Not today though.

In one day, they finished the jam.
So, he had no choice but to eat the orange.
I'll fill it tomorrow.
Little 🐖🐖🐖

I did sit outside for a while with Gibbs (separately - shade/sun) but I had my back to the sun and it was lovely! At 2, I also remembered that all of Foodland's specials would end today, the new flyer begins tomorrow.

Back into town I went and stocked up on Bill's Oikos yogourt, our bread and some meat for the freezer. Then, I did some paper quilling until it was tea time and time for my Sweetie to return. He was actually home by 3:30 but Black Beauty did not bring him. 😂

A tip, if you didn't already know.
This pepper is in perfect condition after
almost 2 weeks. Wrapped in tin foil.
A suggestion from a blurker.
It works!

Billy did. Our truck was staying overnight so they could replace the handle on the tailgate. It was nice to see him home early regardless. They are finished at Murray's, for now, and working in Owen Sound. For supper, I had a smoked sausage and Bill had a pork chop, he did the grilling. I refried the rice and made a salad.

Supper was very good!

It was all very good and both diners were happy. 🤭 We cleaned up dishes and Bill made his lunch. This was a perfect day, 25C/77F, dropping to a mild

12.2C/54F overnight. We like that!

Looks like 2 years ago,
June 3, 2024, we had
a full moon.
Good night!

Thank you for stopping by.
