Happy New Years EVE!

Park Place RV Park

We started out the day on 1-2-3-1-2-3 with clear blue skies. The forecast indicated some clouds moving in later but only a high of 62F/16C. I say ‘only’ because without sun, that doesn’t feel very warm. Still, all in all, a pretty nice day. I was up by 6:30 and we walked over with the sorted clothing. Bill helped load and we returned home with my 25-minute timer set.

Good morning
Look at that clear sky

Bill left for the field around 8:15 and by 8:30 I went back to fold and retrieve everything. Laundry done before 9 am, that is pretty good in my books! No one else was even around after me. Gerald and Dora are on duty so he was back sweeping and cleaning the washroom and shower before the office even opened. He does such a good job and, like Bill, needs to keep busy. He is always eager to do something for the betterment of the park – at least that is what I, as a guest, see.

The moon says good bye

With my tea finished, I’d started it first thing after getting up, Gibbs and I went for our walk. I didn’t need the heavier jacket today, just my lumberjack coat today.πŸ˜‰ I had other jobs to do today so didn’t waste any time. I dragged the Christmas boxes out from under the bed and began undressing the tree and our Suite of the seasonal adornment. Usually, I wait until New Year’s Day but with pool in the morning, I wanted it to be done today.

I didn't know what the smoke was
but I liked the way it drifted across in the
calm air

With that 90% done, I dusted the entertainment centre, coffee table (what the tree sat on) and counter tops. I say 90% because I left the 2-piece 4’ tree out to wait for Bill. When he got home at 11:30 he brought the candy cane lights in from outside for storage in the tree box. By that time, I’d had my shower and helped finish putting the boxes away.

a running start at the new puzzle.

We had chicken salad sandwiches for lunch and then he vacuumed throughout the Suite and we moved the coffee table back into place. While they snoozed, I went over to the clubhouse to start a puzzle. Gerald helped me separate and flip pieces over on a puzzle Dora gave me. It is a nice picture so I worked away at that for a couple of hours.

A few clouds moved in this afternoon

Someone had started one on one of the side tables but they don’t do it the way I do, so I left it alone. Yes, as Bill says, I can be anal too. They had the top half of the puzzle border done and sky pieces put in place. I’m assuming another guest is doing this one and I had no desire to pick up where they left off. Hopefully, they will be back to finish it 😊

The Suite looks normal again
(with less dust)

I had a tea back home and then Gibbs and I went for our predictable walk. It sure doesn’t seem like New Year’s Eve but it is! We have no plans and so the evening will be much like any other for us. I think we might be opening a couple of bottles of coolers to bring 2024 into our lives. We’ll watch the ball drop, from some programming station, but it will be at 10 pm here so I can be in bed at my usual time. I’m not the only one, so don’t laugh!

It was good.

We had shrimp, cocktail sauce, fries and a vegetable for supper. It has been a nice peaceful day with chats back and forth with family and friends. I hope you are planning to be with a loved one tonight. I’ll sign off now and wish everyone the very best of the new year ahead. Be safe, have fun and be happy! Let the countdown begin.........3,2,1 - 2024!!

My last outdoor picture of the year.
Good night 2023 and Welcome 2024!

Thank you for the visit.

The Warmest Day in a While, Music Jam

Park Place RV Park

On Saturday, Dec.30th we slept in until 6:30 and then I forced myself up close to 7 when I heard Bill was getting into the shower. There was no time commitments today for anything but I had a blog to finish. I wanted to make collages of all my pictures from yesterday but Picasa wasn’t co-operating. I should have just done it anyway, as this morning was no different.

Good morning!

My walk around the block

I had to zoom in to get the Q mountain in clear enough.
It always brings me fond memories of our first year here.

Last night, I watched three good movies until about 10:45. One was called The Gift and it was 12 minutes long 😊. Another was called Being Rose with an older Cybil Shepherd. Cute movie, although slow there were some good views of the desert and even a mention of Truth and Consequences, a town in NM we have spent time around. I can’t recall the name of the first one – duh.

Walking north behind the Arizona Sun RV Park & Resorts

now, walking east

Gibbs and I went for our walk, it was 47F/8C, me in my down jacket again. I changed into a lighter jacket when we got back home and I struck out again. I didn’t get as many steps, only about 4000, but at least I’m getting out there. Again, there was nothing going on at the clubhouse for me, but I took some ink tanks and a long sleeve top over to the FREE table. The tanks didn’t fit our printer.

Bill took a picture of us to send back home to
my sister. Gerry, my bil, said some not nice words!!
Ha ha, their weather is not short-sitting weather. ♥

I was crocheting worms in the top picture but
did you notice Gibbs? He LOVES his new reindeer Stuffy.
He has only chewed one foot and his hat but mostly just
carries it around from one spot to another. ♥

Then, back home, Gibbs and I sat outside. I changed from long pants and a t-shirt to shorts and a sleeveless top. That sun was gorgeous! I took my Yarn Drum out and made 3 more worms for Sheila. I, mistakenly, used a 2 (or 3) ply yarn because of the multi-colours but they aren’t as nice. Bill and I had lunch and I tested the ‘new’ keto bread It isn’t as nice as what I get at Fry’s but it is guilt-free and not bad at all.

I thought I'd check out the Music Jam.
I'll just say that although the instruments were mostly good,
some people shouldn't sing. Sorry! Others were pretty good.

I think I'll get her name wrong but I'm
going to say 'Joanne' (?) is quite good on her flute.

When the boys went in for their snooze, walked over to get a listen in on the Music Jam at 2. Hmmm, well, I don’t want to be too critical but there is only so much that my ears can take. I’m not sure if this was just a ‘not-so-good’ day so I’ll visit again another time to see for myself. 😊 They are amateur musicians and are having fun – I hope. I walked back around 3, when they took a break, and was glad I went.

The southwest sky was cloud filled by late afternoon

The winds had picked up. I know it is hard to see
the ribbon at the top of the pole.
Gibbs and I walked around the park.

The sky has been clear blue all day and the 69F/21C was a real treat! It will be cooling off (again) for the next week or more. Too bad but as long as we get sunshine, we’ll take it! Back home, Donna checked on the Ridge and Bill’s cargo trailer for us. Things are fine and it sure doesn’t look like winter back there! Thanks, sis! I had my cup of tea and around 4:30, Gibbs and I went for a walk.

I thought this meant a great sunset tonight

But regardless, it created a lovely pink hue over the flat land
and mountains.

The clouds have moved in to the west so I’ll have to remember to watch for another nice sunset. We’re having grilled sausages, on a bun for supper. We had the last of the apple crisp for dessert. Today,  I cleaned up the table in the gazebo, making use of the K-cup holder we’ve been using. We need the counter space inside so went back to the old way of storing the cups. I'll take a picture tomorrow, forgot to do that earlier.

The clouds were just hanging when the sun dropped
below the mountains.

And this pink one over our neighbour's home

Supper doesn't get much simpler than this!

This has been a good day and I caught a few of those lovely suntanning rays!

Like a puffy blanket over the Suite
Good night.

Thank you for popping in.

Hanging Around, Quick Trip to Blythe, Friday Night Supper

Park Place RV Park

On Friday, Dec. 29th it seems we are moving quickly to the end of the month and year. I was awake at 6:30 when the boys got up but dropped off again and fell into a silly dream. Why we dream what we dream is certainly a mystery. Anyway, it was 7:20 when next I opened my eyes!

Our 'wind detector' pole doesn't hide
the sun and made for a nice picture of
our morning sun.

I got washed and dressed before coming downstairs to have my tea. Daddy got ready for the morning while Gibbs and I sat together in my chair. After he left, Gibbs and I slipped out for our walk. I was in short sleeves so wore my down feathered jacket, it was warm against the cool morning. I think it was 45F/7C with some light cloud cover hovering around the area. I missed the sunrise, it was already 8:30. 😊

The morning doves rent the same
overnight accomodations.

After bringing Gibbs back, I went back out for a longer walk. I’ve noticed that I have something akin to Achilles heel/tendon in my right foot. It has been coming on since late summer and maybe even last winter, so I’ve paid attention to what shoes I wear and for how long. I’ve also Googled some exercises but it is confusing. Some sites say ‘do them’, others say ‘don’t or you’ll stretch it too much’. I am careful how much I do and haven’t been walking as much.

There are some nice
sidewalk paths to walk close to us

It's funny, the longer walks don’t seem to have me aching the next day. So, I got my 6,000 steps in before returning home. Hopefully, it won't be painful in the morning. There was nothing to do at the clubhouse, I didn’t want to start a new puzzle until after the Saturday Music Jam so just stayed at home and crocheted more worms. My friend, Sheila, liked hers so much that she asked if I would make more for her. Of course! I have lots of wool to use up. 😊

Without a puppy dog on a leash,
I took time to take a selfie.

People don't have grass but some are very creative
with their front yards. This is on Emerald St. where I
followed signs to a Yard sale but it didn't appeal to me.

This tree still thinks it is Fall
but isn't it pretty? Colour in the desert.

Prickly Pear cactus.
Don't touch!!

From a distance, these Saguaros are
using sign language. Interesting!

The USAF relics at the Quartzsite Town Park

Looking through one of my favourite trees
on this walk.

More colour, not just red, brilliant red.

Bill was home by noon and we had bacon and eggs for a change. He’s already told me that we’ll be going out for supper tonight. He knows I like to hear those words occasionally as it means my menu-planning brain gets a rest! He brought home the mail and we received 2 Christmas cards from Bill's daughters. Thank you Krystal and Jess.

A quick trip across the state line.

No fruits here.
They weren't stopping any in our row today.

Dome Rock

I guess, I can soon take Ball Santa's hat off.

After some walks, crocheting and dozing for the boys, we got cleaned up to go out. Today hasn’t been too warm, but not cold either. T-shirt weather, I suppose you’d call it. I never know how warm it is in restaurants so wore long pants and took along a cardigan.

Gibbs sleeps on the arm of the chair with his
little buddy "Stuffy" close by.

The drive to supper
With all those clouds, It was unfortunate we were indoors during
the beautiful sunset others witnessed.

Our first time in the Yacht Club.
It's a nice 'bar' atmosphere, 2 pool tables
and friendly staff.

We went to The Yacht Club for a change. Bill totally surprised me with that one as he drove past our usual ‘haunts’. 😊 We were there early and found a booth, ordered our drinks and food all within 10 minutes. We both like the atmosphere and it’s about time we checked it out! We’ve heard about it for a few years. Our meals were great, you can’t beat Fish & Chips! We had a pleasant waitress and were home before 6 with full tummies.

Fish and Chips with a margarita.

We drove home on Tyson Rd.
This is the one that was closed and Bill took videos of on
Saturday, after the rain fall.

Looking towards town, there is
still a lot of standing water.

It was a calm evening and we were surprised once more when we realized that Gibbs had eaten a full bowl of his food while we were away! He’s never done that so we are quite pleased. I finished my blog and we watched some tv for the evening. This was a really nice day.

The pretty sunset was done by the time we got out of the restaurant.
I have a feeliing there will be more, it is Arizona after all πŸ’•

Good night everyone!

Thank you for stopping by.
