The Ridge
On Friday, Nov. 5th we all woke up around the same time and by 7, we were up for the day. On each of our minds was ‘please call about the truck’. We went about sorting laundry and at 7:30, I drove into Durham to get that done. We also needed 2 water jugs filled and 2 loaves of bread from Foodland. When I arrived, there was no one in the parking lot. Good news BUT no so good that the doors were locked. Hmm, it opens at 7 so this didn’t make sense.
I laughed at this
Apparently, I'm not the only vain one in the family!
He was just sitting looking at himself 💓
I waited
around until 8 to see if the timer had just jiggled off an hour. Nope, so as
much as I hated to text Jamie after him working an afternoon/midnight shift, I
needed to let him know. At 8:15 when he hadn’t responded, I did the other
errands in town and checked back at 8:45. Still locked up and no lights on. ☹ It didn’t make sense to hang around for however long, so I drove home to
start boiling my eggs for sandwiches.
5 minutes cooling
I forgot about them so they cooled for a lot longer!
It wasn’t
long after that when Jamie texted apologizing and he told me the last power outage
screwed things up with the timer and that things were open now. Within minutes
of that call, Bill’s phone rang around 10:15 with the news we’d not really
expected until at least 3 this afternoon. Yippee!! Black Beauty was ready to
come home so Jeff really put the push on for us. That gets a big gold star in
our books even if it hurts the pocket book.
Grilled cheese and olives for lunch
Breakfast was a no show for us today
We picked
her up right away, dropped the Ford Edge off, I ran into the bank to deposit my
Canadian $ and Bill then delivered me and the laundry to the Mat. Jamie was
there in full work mode, working on a few of the washers and cleaning. It got
crazy busy, which is great for him, I did our 3 loads and Bill picked me up.
Another job taken care of. While he waited, Bill took the truck for a wash and
filled a propane tank.
Taking a walk to check the mail
Back
home, I had Madame IP make my eggs and I chopped them up. I won’t make the
sandwiches yet nor add the mayo, until Sunday. Things are falling into place.
Donna received a parcel from Amazon that I ordered and had delivered there
because I wasn’t sure how quick it would come. It just arrived yesterday so it
would have been fine. It’s a gift for someone special so I can’t tell you what
it is. 😊
My corral hill garden isn't looking
too spiffy but it is just going into hibernation 😂
We drove
in to meet her in Durham to pick it up and then back home to finish our packing
up. Bill checked the truck tires and we locked up the outhouse and storage
shed. We lock the Bunky once we have turned off the hydro power at the box in
there. The fridge out there is turned off so there isn’t anything else to do.
As I figured, he got everything packed away nicely in the basement. We’ve left
a couple of things behind that were debatable but I doubt we’ll regret that
decision.
Bill checks tire pressure Nothing else to do here
When we
returned home, we decided, since it was 3:30 and Bill was getting worn out from
the day’s happenings, to wait until morning to hook up and dump on our way out.
It would have been nice to get it done today but we’ll be up early anyway. 😊 Bill and Gibbs rested upstairs and I took the opportunity
(without a little helper) to stay downstairs and trim and paint my toenails.
They won’t be seen at the wedding but soon I’ll be wearing sandals again! Yay!

The boys
joined me half hour later and Bill asked for his own pedicure so I obliged.
Then we relaxed in our chairs some more, listening to the radio and I got into
my Michael Connelly book. Aah, Harry Bosch, I’ve missed you! I was hooked 2
pages in. Supper was easy with leftovers; meatloaf, potatoes for Bill,
cauliflower rice for me, spinach and corn. Neither of us needed dessert so we
cleaned up dishes and Bill took Gibbs for his ‘around the corral walk’. At
least I assume that’s where they went.
Gibbs sits in my chair with me, but behind
me to look out the window and I can still
work on my laptop
Gosh, I love this little lovebug
Woops! my Canada pin is upside down!
It doesn’t
feel real yet for us, hard to believe this is our last night up here on the
Ridge. It’s looking desolate already with things put away and sheds locked up.
The satellite dish is put away too so that tonight was a radio night unless we
wanted to watch a recorded program or a dvd. To be determined. 😊 I’ve closed up most cupboards with the security bars in
place.
This was
a mixed-up day from the beginning, time-wise, but it turned out great and here
we are. We are both smiling.
The kind of evening it was 😍 Getting back into Bosch
Good night!
Thank you

you wish to leave a comment, we’d love to hear from you! If you want to see what Bill has been up to for the last month, check his post out here.
