We Are Not Alone Anymore
La Posa South, Quartzsite, Az
On Monday, Jan. 10th, Gibbs and I went for our morning walk in a different direction again. I headed towards the west where there is a grouping of two Saguaros. They are very old, one in particular, indicated by the height and the number of arms it has. They are in the middle of an intersection, kind of like you might find in a big city where a monument stands. You have to drive around them in either direction.
A memory photo from January 2018 with Brenda and Randy ♥
I love these cacti because they remind me of when our friends, Brenda and Randy, came in January 2018 to spend a couple of nights with us. We all posed here. I also love the large bird’s nest in the crook of one arm. 😊 After Gibbs and I returned, it was once again warm enough to sit outside and since the batteries were beginning to charge nicely, we were able to make our tea and coffee.
This was this morning.
Another rosy mountain picture
There were no plans in place today but one. When our friend, Nancy, texted about her arrival at the gate, Bill was going up to meet her. We had our bacon and eggs a bit early since we expected her before noon hour and wanted to be accessible. Finding where we are parked is a challenge for ‘newbies’ and there are no easy markers to give her. The text came at 11:15 so Bill went up to the front and guided her back to our site.
Waiting for the text, a Father and Son chat went on.
It was great to see her arrive and she got set up quickly and easily. Cooper, Nancy and Gibbs made acquaintances and for the remainder of the afternoon we sat together on our patio. Cooper is a little intimidated by Gibbs and we can’t blame him for feeling that way. Gibbs can be a pest in his puppy stage. Hopefully, spending time with each other will help to unite a bond. 😉
We suddenly have really nice neighbours!
Bill shared as much information as he could to answer some of Nancy’s questions and with his help, I hope this, her first, boondocking experience is a good one for her. We split up around 6 when it was time to start supper. The sun set but without the fan fare again that we were expecting. Clouds had moved in and therefore it started cooling down quickly.
Nancy gets the scoop on a few boondocking things.
Gibbs knows that little white doggie lives in that fiver over there so is watchful.
That little white doggie is a cutie - It's Cooper! ♥
I think I managed to surprise Nancy with her new 'Bingo' set.
Fish and chips tonight and they were good. Olives adorned my side plate and it was plenty filling. We watched some of our tv programs; Bill had to start the generator to use the Fry Daddy. It was a quiet evening. Gibbs was exhausted from all of his entertaining. I think he thought it was his job to keep our friend happy. I presented her with a ‘gift’ that I found this summer at a garage sale and it was the moment I’d hoped for. She loved it!
Tonight's sunset begins but this was the best of the whole thing.
A commenter suggested I include a picture from the previous year so here is a walk in the Paisley park on Jan. 10, 2021. Glad I'm not there!
Good night!
This was a great day and we’re not alone anymore; we have a good neighbour! Thank you for stopping by.
