No Complaints, Making a Plan

Quartzsite, Az

On Thursday, Nov. 5th I didn't get out of bed until 7:15. I watched the pretty sky last night when I went to bed before 9:30. It was dark, that kind of pretty, with a multitude of stars and planes. I was tempted to go outside but nah, I was already under the covers.

Good morning!

This morning, the sky was pretty but in a different way. Dark mountains, bright pink along the horizon and blue above that with sparse cacti and bushes in front. I didn't have my phone so I just enjoyed it while laying there. My first plan of the day was to wait until the sun had risen a bit before I walked.

Different views from Pipeline Rd.

In that plan, I decided to walk to the north to start, coming back to the south upon my return. I enjoyed the walk, and soon cut across to Pipeline Rd and thought I'd follow it up to the highway to check it out. Oh, no way would I suggest Bill take Black Beauty on that road. Some parts were okay but.....

It isn't a road we want Black Beauty
traversing on.

Stick to what we know is my advice. It was a longer walk, 1.81 miles by the time I got back to the Suite, aka 2.9 km. That's a better jaunt and it was easy walking. I met Bill on the main road, as he was leaving for the field, I was coming in. This morning we had made a decision about the generator.

Last night, we watched Survivor, 1.5 hrs, and then watched the last episode of Sheriff Country. Before they started (at 6 pm our time), Bill started the genny and turned it off when they ended. It was 8:30 and our batteries were fully charged. We read for an hour and that's when I went to bed.

Trying to pinpoint
where our Suite is from here.
Keeping an eye on my route too.

This morning, when I got up, Bill started the generator so our tea and coffee making process with the Keurig didn't pull them down. That isn't the way to start a day. The sun was just starting to hit the panels, only about 25%, I think Bill said, and when I met him, he told me he'd just shut it off. 😉That's a plan we can live with.

I made my tea and instead of going out into that beautiful day, my next plan came into play. This is a 'now to Christmas'-type of plan. I would stay in to make 1 or 2 Christmas cards so I have enough to send at the end of the month. Only certain family/friends get them, appreciate homemade. 🤭

I met Bill on my way back.
Picture on the right shows the number of roads
going this way and that.
Perhaps you'll see why it is so confusing.

Gibbs and I went out when I added 2 more to my pile. He wasn't out long, there was enough of a wind on the canopy that it wasn't giving him shade so he sat at the step wanting in. Couldn't blame the little guy, he is dressed in a sweater at all times! So, when I came in at 10:30 to make my coffee, he stayed in.

Gibbs found shade and there
was a nice breeze late morning.

I decided that was also a good time for a shower, and then I took my next book out. I finished The Heist last night. This one is a Sue Grafton, V is for Vengeance. I don't need books to be in order so missing some of her early ones and jumping out of alphabetical order doesn't bother me. I enjoy her stories too.

I know I'll get tired of these but for
now, they're pretty good.

For lunch, it was another salad for me and Bill had his regular pb and c(cheese) sandwich. I only have enough lettuce left for one or two more days so I'm being skimpy with it as I try, try, try to eat well enough to drop some belly fat. We'll see how that goes. 🤷‍♀️

Supper was delicious.

We spent the afternoon either outside on the patio or indoors. I did get our regular Christmas cards addressed, ahead of the game but we'll need stamps so they can be mailed in a week(ish). I can't say enough about these beautiful days! It is absolutely perfect with no humidity. The flies can go anytime, and we know they will but they are just a nuisance.

This memory is from Nov. 5
2023.

For supper, I wrapped the leftover meatloaf in tin foil for Bill to heat up on the bbq and cooked him a potato, veggies and my broccoli on the stove. We were eating before 6 and watched a movie together at 6 pm. The generator ran for a couple of hours tonight. Another great day for the books, 78F/25.55C by early-afternoon.

Last year on this day,
Bill and Gibbs just going to 'work'
in the park.
Good night!

Thank you for your visit!

  1. I think you are doing great finding your home coming back from your walk. I would be the old Grama wandering out in the desert lost .
