Laundry, Quilling and some Walking

Park Place RV Park

On Sunday, Mar. 2nd we were all up before 7 and on our way over to the clubhouse with the sorted clothes. We had been informed that the private guest code, that allows us into the building (clubhouse, shower, washroom and laundry) after hours, was changing Mar. 1st. When we paid our electric bills, guests were given the new code. Easy peasy. Because Bill and I do our laundry so early, we are always able to let ourselves in. Except for today. Hmmm.🤷‍♀️

Good morning!

Bill tried the old and new code enough times to get locked out. We carted the basket of clothes back home to wait until we saw a manager or host out and about. Bill had already decided that he 'probably' would NOT be flying today after checking the forecast. A nice warm day was to be ahead but the winds were going to pick up to an unreasonable (& unacceptable!) speed. It was just before 8 when we saw Sue, the manager, walk up the ramp into the building, unlocking the door for guests. To say we hustled over is putting it mildly. 😂

It was a windy but clear start to the day

Back at the Suite, I did my exercises alone, and found one of the new videos to be quite good for me. My block behind my right knee and on my calf, sitting on it for 3 minutes - yes! It hurt, of course, it is supposed to, but I think this is a good one for me to do each morning. Needless to say, I still was in no mind to take Gibbs for his walk. Those winds and the dust blowing around was not going to be pleasant. Bill went to the field then because the winds were only 3 & 4 mph.

Bill found a large pineapple at
Albertson's for $3.99 so I cut it up
this morning. I love this little tool!

I went back to switch the clothes into dryers and stayed there to work on the puzzle. It is addicting! Bill was back after the gusts increased and no one was at the field anyway. We folded the clothes together and returned home. The wind gusted to 27 mph just before 11 am so I'm glad I was here inside at that time. I saw a number of people out in it, walking or on bikes. No thank you! The taste of dust doesn't appeal to me. The mountains off in the distance were blurred, not a place I want us to be. 😜

Today's progress. Better than I thought.

After my boys had a lengthy snooze, we had lunch together; I had toast and cranberry pear jam from Bayfield, Ontario. I picked it up during Ladyfest with my sisters this past September. It's good! I also finished up the last 2 blackened bananas in a smoothie. That was delicious! I had been doing more paper quilling, seems I can't leave it alone now. 💕 Not all things turn out perfectly, my ladybug for one, but I'll keep trying to improve. I still think they are cute.

Now, I needed to find homes for them.
I went shopping for card stock and shadow boxes

We went uptown so I could pop into the dollar stores on the hunt for crafting supplies. I wasn't fully successful but I also didn't come home disappointed. When I'm in Yuma, I'll have better luck at finding what I need. Bill was busy on his laptop and Gibbs was sleeping so I went back to the puzzle for an hour or so. The winds were not dropping none too fast and it sounds like we'll have them overnight and tomorrow as well. Our gazebo is holding up great, mainly because the winds are coming from the southeast and we are sheltered.

The clouds moved in with the wind
but they are still pretty accents to the blue sky.

I took Gibbs for his walk around 4:30 and then after dropping him off, took myself off for another one. I was feeling good but I don't want to say that too loud or I'll jinx things. My step count has gone down considerably since my sciatica flared up on Feb. 9th but at least today I surpassed 4,000 steps. That's a big deal right now! 😃 For supper, we had fish and chips. Bill had the chips and I had Brussel Sprouts. Pickles and olives rounded out our plates. It was a good meal and easy to prepare.

Well, accidents happen sometimes!
I was walking Gibbs behind this site when 'crunch!'
Either the motor home or the tow vehicle driver
ran over the electric post. Yikes!

After finishing my blog, I'll read or find something on tv. This has been a great day. We reached a high of 76F/24C today, despite the wind gusts. I hope yours has been pleasant too.

A filling supper - a good thing because
tonight I was hungry!
Good night!

Thank you for stopping around.

A Sunny Hump Day, Crafting, Riding, Happy Hour

Park Place RV Park

On Wednesday, Dec. 18th I slept soundly until 6:30. I never heard Bill and Gibbs get up at 6 because I was so lost in dreams. Stupid dreams. It was a warmer morning, 46F/7C so I didn’t need my windbreaker over my fleece jacket. It was a great walk but even though I waited until 7:20 to leave, I was still home before the sun rose. 😊

Good morning!
Not an impressive picture
unless you note that this is our horizon
each day and these mountains only improve
in appearance as the sun rests on them.

The rest of the morning fell right into play, pretty much, and was gone before I knew it. I took Gibbs for his walk before 9 and walked to the clubhouse. Patty was a bit under the weather so after Coffee Hour, I hitched a ride with Jess to her class at Desert Camel. This is the 3rd class for me. There were 7 attendees this time, her biggest class yet. We had a great time, 4 of us were ‘regulars’ and 3 were new to quilling. There were a lot of laughs, chatter and we were still done by 12 noon.

This is a better picture of the library
tree.

Bill and I had lunch when I returned, minced ham, lettuce, and cheese sandwiches. I’m really enjoying this Soja bread. I could have gone to the puzzle but I decided to take my chair and book over to the sunshine and try and finish the last 3 chapters. It felt wonderful to just relax and soak up some rays. I haven’t done that much since we arrived.

The sun gets ready to rise just
as I'm turning into the park.

Around 3:15 or so, I decided to leave it though and take my wheels for a spin. I need a name and will soon choose a suitable one. 😊 You know me! I had a nice ride around the big block. My legs still need some practice because I was very glad to turn into our site. A great cardiac, muscle and bone exercise! I’m glad Santa came to me early.

This is my craft today.
It is hanging on my tree.

This is another one of Jess's creations.
I had to buy it for our tree.

Patty and Duncan joined us for H.H., yes, she was feeling much better, and when they left at 5, Bill helped Bette finish putting her new Blackstone bbq together. She does a lot on her own but when help is needed, Bill will always step up, if he can. I took Gibbs for his walk around the park while the convection oven pre-heated and then we had fish and chips for supper. They were delicious!

My walk with Gibbs and we can see
the pink mountains in the east as the sun sets.

After we cleaned up, Bill had his shower and will watch a movie upstairs. I will watch the finale of Survivor downstairs but that will be after I finish this post. It has been a lovely day from beginning to end. We reached a very warm 75F/24C and that is what we’ll be seeing here until Christmas Day. Bring it on!

Our supper was good.
Good night!

Thank you for stopping by. Your comments mean a lot to me.

Homeless, Elvis, Outdoor Exercise, Indoor Crafts

The Ridge
Tuesday, July 14th arrived and I actually felt cool under the sheet and bedspread this morning. I didn’t complain as I know before long it will be hot again. Bill was in the shower when I dragged myself out of bed at 6:30. It would have been nice to laze in bed this morning but that’s what I get for watching tv until 11.

A walk down the laneway and at the very top of the hill
you can see our Canada wind sock hanging very still
(I didn't plan for that to read like a poem)
This was my morning to clean the Mat so I left within minutes of 7. The back door was propped open and I was disappointed to see that a young homeless female was sleeping on the chairs at the front again. She was there Sunday when Bill and I went in and when she put her feet up on the washer, Bill asked her nicely not to do that.

She got lippy, belligerent and didn’t stop grumbling (not swearing though) until he said he could call the cops and have her removed. We really didn’t want to have to do that but it forced the issue and she moseyed on down the street. So, when I saw her again today, I was a tad nervous on how to handle it. When she didn’t move after I went about getting keys and cleaning supplies out, I said “Wakey, wakey”, thinking that was an ok approach.

Apparently not, she got lippy again and didn’t budge. Five minutes later, I went back and once more suggested she get up and leave so I could clean. More lip, about me not being her mother (to which I said, 'That's obvious, my children respect me' ((I couldn’t help it!)) and something about me being‘up to no good' so I texted Jamie and asked what he thought. He suggested that I call the West Grey police but before I did that, I tried once more.

From her comment on Sunday, I know he has called them on her before. I told her that she needed to consider the fact that she was very lucky she was even able to sleep in the laundromat. Finally, she packed up her stuff and left, coming back in once to fill her water bottle. So, stay overnight if you need to but when the place opens, please move on. Maybe we should drive in on Wednesday night after 10 and make sure the back door is closed so I don’t have to deal with that again.

A pond picture
I finished cleaning, chatting with a school custodian for the last few minutes and drove home. I debated making a tea and taking it to Mitch’s so I could be there for 9 but then comes the bathroom issue. I’m sure he has one (!) but I don’t want to have to use it. So, I stayed home until 9:15 and then took what I had left in the travel mug with me. Today, he had me working on a 2010 Ford pickup. This was much easier to sand, just taking the shiny paint off around the door for painting.

The 2 hours flew by with Mitch working on the opposite side. We chatted a lot about Elvis, Covid and moving on to Stage 3 and that helped with passing the time while working. As I was leaving, we discussed a couple of new jobs I’d be doing and payment. Back home, it was a bit overcast with some blue patches so a nice day. Instead of going to the garden right away, I decided to relax for half hour and then get something to eat first.

I feel better that at last the weeds are taken care of
if not the stones
After my tummy had something in it, I cleared the dishes up and went outside. The weather was perfect for working in the garden and the area I worked on was shaded for the most part. When the sun went behind a cloud, there was relief from that too. I didn’t stop until I was done pulling all the weeds and grass from the hill garden. That was an accomplishment and I’m glad I got it done before the hotter days return.

When I finished, I came inside and got cleaned up with a shower. I'm not sure what bit me yesterday but I’ve got a couple of bites. One on my temple, just under the arm of my glasses and one more on my upper chest where my straps go. Of course, in those spots where something rubs on it. I’ve been layering Benadryl cream on after washing so did the same this afternoon. Then, I figured after almost 6 hours of work, it was time to play.

Sitting in the Bunky, this picture called to be taken
I went into the Bunkie and starting reassembling our Mexican bell chimes that fell off the wall in the Suite during the heat wave. As they dropped, one broke and one cracked so I wanted to piece them together. A glue gun isn’t the best thing to use but even though Bill offered his 5 (2, 3?) minute epoxy, I wanted to get it done ‘now’. I noticed the string was fraying so took the time to replace it as well. Restringing was interesting but successful. I might touch up the paint too.

All back together again
Then I worked on the craft thing I started yesterday. You’ll soon see what it is, hopefully. Just something silly I wanted to try. Bill was home by 5:15 and we chatted, catching up on each other’s day. Inside, Madame IP cooked Italian sausages and a regular potato for Bill and a part of a yam for me. The potatoes took longer than the sausage, I didn't cut them small enough, so finished them in the microwave. It was quite filling and the sausage was delicious. I haven’t had a sweet potato for a while so it was a treat.

Supper was yummy
After dishes, Bill went to his cargo trailer. His flooring came in yesterday so his friend from work picked it up at Rona for him today. A few more touch ups and he can lay the 6 x 9 piece. I went to the Bunky and puttered away as well until just after 8. We were missing America’s Got Talent but Bill soon joined me and we watched it for the next hour and a half.

Another hint at the project
Have a good night!
This was a good day but it seems that I’m getting later with my blog postings. With my mornings busy, I don’t really want to leave them until then to catch up. I hope you’ve had a good day as well. The weather was exactly what I love!

Thank you for poking your nose in. 😊 If you wish to comment, I would love it.

Another Full Day of Fun!

Yuma Lakes RV Resort, Yuma, AZ
Saturday, Dec. 15th started out very ritualistic. Bill and I were up by 6:30, had our brew together and took a mile and a half walk. He’s spoiling me with the company! It was shaping up to be another nice day, just the kind we love.

Good Morning, Saturday!

Goodbye to the moon
No wind at all as you can see by our wind sock

Back at the ranch, so to speak, Bill and I had stripped the bed sheets and I took those and our two chair blankets over to the laundromat. While there, I met Demitra, the lady who cleans the Mats in here. Very nice lady (aren’t we all?) and we chatted about her routine and mine. It was nice to meet her. She and her hubby are from Iowa and were offered the job for the cost of their site ‘free’ for the winter. Tim looks after the pool, hot tubs and they share the washroom duty.

I can't remember his name but we got a kick out of this lively
Australian shepherd cross playing with the balls
Bill spotted this Vermillion Flycatcher in a tree
behind our sites
(I'm not THAT good, had to look it up)
I left an appropriate rock at the laundromat
(before morning, it was gone - yay!)

My sheets and blankets drying quickly
The clothes lines are a great idea and get used a lot
After I had our laundry on the line, I texted Jo-Anne to see if she wanted to go up to the main clubhouse with me. There was a craft sale from 9 to ?. I don’t usually buy anything but rather get ideas and just plain admire what talent is out there. We wandered around the tables and chatted with the vendors aka rv’ers. There were some really nice products and some very interesting ones.

A small but talented group
Jo-Anne at the left booth
Dave at the right front corner booth
We stopped at a full table of wood plaques. Beautiful work that a lady taught herself to do on her own after retirement. These were awesome so we each bought a couple of tree ornaments.

I asked her for a 'Vanna' pose so I got it :)
It was then that I felt an arm slip around my shoulder and I hear “Now, you can do better than that, Pat”. Wha?? I turned to my left to see Dave from Our View from Here standing beside me. 😊

I think they would be neat puzzles too
My contribution to her hobby
and to our tree as well
When Jo and I left, I invited Dave and Cheryl back to our site for Happy Hour and we returned to our guys. I made us some breakfast, cinnamon rolls, and then kind of relaxed until 12:30 when Jo-Anne and I walked up to the pool.

There were only 4 of us for a while
Gorgeous day!! It was 77F in the heat of the afternoon and we couldn’t ask for any better. The pool water was 88F. We are both sun lovers so there was nothing more to be said as we stretched out on our towels and did the flip flop from front to back.

Guess who can't wait to decorate for Christmas!
I managed to get quite a bit of my book read throughout the day and when we returned to our sites, it was close to Happy Hour so I had my shower and then Bill had his. At 3:30, Dave and Cheryl joined us and Bob and Jo-Anne came over with their chairs. Conversation flowed, as it tends to do, covering everything from travel adventures to grandchildren and families back home. Even though we are here, our family is not far from our minds and hearts. I hope they all know that.

Happy Hour was a happy one!
sorry Cheryl, I caught you in a blink

Dave and Cheryl brought some yummy sausage treats
After H.H. we had a quick but delicious bacon cheeseburger. We cleaned up dishes and for about 10 minutes I put together a makeshift 50’s outfit. I didn’t really have anything that was typical but I try my best for any occasion to get creative.

I wore denim leggings rolled up to just below the knee, white ankle socks and my funky coloured ‘free from Tres Rios’ running shoes. My top wasn’t traditional but it worked and matched the roses on my pants. With a chiffon scarf wrapped around my neck and hair in two ponytails, I was ready. Oh yes, my Cancun sunglasses fit perfectly too!

The music was good and had us all on the floor a lot
I packed a cooler of some drinks and the four of us walked up to the clubhouse for 6:30. It wasn’t a full house but it was a nice turn out, maybe 50 guests. The thing about these dances………many people are on the floor from the minute the music starts until it ends.

The hostess tried her darnedest to get someone doing the limbo
She's forgotten how old we all are!
The Blu Reys were pretty good, a father and son (I think) and he played true 50’s tunes that brought back memories and had us (well not me, personally) jiving, twisting and shaking our booties. The slow tunes were special too.

I love this picture of Bob and Jo-Anne without a flash
The red and green lights showed up nicely!

This is nice too but no lights here
There were a few contests – a twist contest, a limbo contest (!!) and a best costume. All of us who had dressed in the 50’s had to go up and dance through a song while randomly picked judges made their decision.

There were 15-20 of us in 50's attire

And 6 judges conferred off to the right
No one was as surprised as me when I was chosen as runner up! Well, that 10 minutes of preparation was worth it! Too funny. The popcorn will be a treat. The dance wrapped up at 10 so before the last dance, we packed up and walked back in the dark.

Tadah!

Bowing to the applause
There are lots of festive rv’s with lovely lights and décor in the park and why not? Christmas is in less than 2 weeks! Back home, Bill and I read for a while and by 10:45 we were in bed. What a jam-packed fun-filled day that was!

A nice container of assorted popcorn - Yay!
Good night y'all!
Thank you for dropping by! Tomorrow is moving day, just 20 minutes down the road and I’m looking forward to settling down for the holidays.
