Poker Pool, Trying to Keep up the Walks

On Monday, Feb. 23rd we both woke up at 6:20 to the sound of Gibbs about to be sick. We react quickly mainly to get him off the bed and onto the floor, just in case. Often, it doesn't happen on time but today it did.

Good morning!

My active imagination is running havoc
with the clouds these days.

It could be any number of things that upsets their tummy but Bill got dressed and took him for his walk and he was just fine. I went back to bed until 7:30 and enjoyed every last minute of that. Bill got ready to go flying and left before 8, I think, as usual.

I've reverted to putting Gibbs'
harness on when we walk and it makes
the world of difference.
He stays on the path and doesn't get
tangled in the leash.

I hopped in the shower before I had my tea, forgetting completely about yogourt. Gibbs and I went for his walk around the block and I could feel that it was already warming up. At 9:20, I took my stick over to poker pool.

Tom and Deb left this morning.
Deb went ahead with the Jeep.

We were all a bit slow arriving today but although we were missing Anne Marie and Linda, 5 of us enjoyed ourselves. One game was unreal. We were all down to one card and we were all holding the 8. When Angie pocketed the ball, we all went out at the same time. That has never happened! 😂

still keto! We'll do it more often.

Bill was making lunch when I got home a few minutes past 12. An old favourite that he mentioned the other night. Cheese and bacon on buns. We used to do them in the oven but since we don't have an 'oven', persay, he figured out a way. They were delicious! I had mine on 2 pieces of keto bread. Yum!

to the shade. He gets a hair cut next week!

I have a correction from last night's post. I said that we were likely going to have chips and cheddar cheese as a snack later in the evening. When 8:15 rolled around, we both averted our cravings and skipped the snack! I was so proud of us. Bill had a yogourt and I had one licorice stick. No promises tonight though. 🤭

there is a Seniors complex, one floor
which is nice too.

I worked on the puzzle for a couple of hours and Bill and Gibbs puttered here at home. Our friends, Tom and Deb, pulled out today but we'll continue to see them over the next few weeks as they've only moved out to Roadrunner Blm.

At 4, I took Gibbs for a short walk, his choice, and went for a longer one myself around the residential homes to the east. Now that I've started a bit of a routine, I don't want to lose track of it. We had grilled sausages for supper. Bill had his on a bun and we both had salads on the side. They were good!

It has been a lovely day. Warming, just like they promised. A high of 82F/25C today, just a tip of the iceberg for the next week plus. Works for me! We had a great day.

Slow Saturday, Walks, Puzzling and Happy Hour

On Saturday, Nov. 30^th, the last day of this lovely month, we were up by 7 or soon after. I slept well, as usual, with the blue flame heater on low to keep the chill out of the Suite. The sky was clear with the exception of a few low-lying clouds on the north-east horizon. They were pink and pretty enough for a picture. I enjoy these morning walks, even though it is brisk at 7:15 when I leave.

The sun pops by the time I turn the corner onto E. Coyote St. allowing me another nice opportunity. 😊 I returned home, made my tea and sat with Gibbs while playing my Wordle games. The 4-letter seems to beat me often! Patty texted about a walk so the 3 of us walked around the park, up to Quail Trail and back to our site. I dropped Gibbs at home and Patty and I carried on down Coyote to Las Palomas, Quail Trail and back on Riggles. Lots of steps these days!

I had 1/4 of a Pomelo today

I went to the clubhouse to the puzzle. I’ve neglected it for more priority things! 😊 I flipped the remaining pieces over and finished the border before starting the body. Should be a good one. Bill and I had lunch at noon and planned supper. I started my blog and then took Black Beauty into the grocery store for a couple of things. We didn’t stop at one in Yuma yesterday but this works.

I got what I needed and at the Family Dollar, found a ‘bogo’ special. If you are smarter than me, you know that means ‘buy one, get one’. Duh, thanks Patty for bringing me up to speed. We had visitors for Happy Hour around 3:00 and the 6 of us carried on right where we left off from our last get together. No shortage of laughs. Kim and Ken left around 5:30.

The puzzle got some attention today

I began cooking the bacon wrapped filet mignons around 6 and Rosy, the af cooked them quite nicely in 20 minutes. I reheated some leftover dressing and cooked mixed vegetables on the side. It all turned out pretty good! We each had a piece of pumpkin cheesecake for dessert and watched a Christmas movie together while I finished my blog for the day.

Supper was good.
Mine still had some grizzly pieces
but it was cooked perfectly and the
beef was tender.

We’ve had a great day and I did really well with my step count today. Tomorrow is laundry day and maybe decorating day too. We’ll see. It was a bit cooler with a high of 69F/20C but the winds were from the north making it feel cooler. 😊 If you are at all interested in our friend, Duncan’s, blog, he is a ‘newbie’. A Looonng Walk, Garage Sales, Supper Treat 😊

On Saturday, Dec. 10^th Bill went off to the field around 8:30. Gibbs and I had gone for ‘his’ walk and we’d returned for my tea before he left. Hoping for it to warm up a bit, I cut myself half of a grapefruit, they’re huge!, and warmed one of my remaining 3 keto butter tarts. That was enough energy for me to go for a longer walk. I didn’t expect to be gone as long as I was BUT I did plan on checking out the garage sales in the area.

Other than being chilly, only 36F/2C, it was a lovely morning

I walked first, listening to a 40-minute podcast and on the last stretch, I followed signs to Mayflower St. and picked up a little bag of my $5 items. Then on the way back towards home, I stopped at Arizona Sun RV Park for their Saturday sales. They were few and far between but you get exercise walking the whole park to find them at the perspective sites.

There were 5 in total and I purchased items at 2 of them. Today’s total spending was $13. 😊 I found 4 books altogether, 3 Christmas pins for a total of $1 and a Santa antenna ball for Black Beauty. I'll get a picture later. I’ve bought the plain ones for her and have a few on hand but this is the season so I had to get this one too. ♥ Back home, Gibbs wanted to go out again so we walked around the park for another few hundred steps.

Today's update

Bill arrived home around 11 and among other things, we had lunch. My spinach tortilla wrapped around cheese, mayo, ham, lettuce and avocado was quite tasty. After eating, I went to the clubhouse and worked on the ‘crayons’. The puzzle gets easier every day as groupings fit into place and I actually found one more border piece, leaving 4 left to find. Paul, host #4, pops in daily to see any updates. He is encouraging.

John, host #2, came in to put the Christmas tree up and left it for the ladies to decorate. At 3:00, I came home for my tea and to do some online searching. I’m thinking of a few items I’d like – even if I have to order them and say they’re from ‘Santa’ or Bill. 😊 We’ll see how that plays out. It’s getting too late to receive shipped items by Christmas but it would be okay if they arrive late. We’re not going anywhere for a while.

So, for supper tonight, we agreed to go out for a change. The Mountain Quail Café is open until 7 pm four days during the week and we enjoy the home cooked meals. Because it’s Saturday, we thought it might be smart to go early so we left at 5:15. The place wasn’t busy at all which meant our meals were served quickly and we were out of there quickly.

Bill ordered fish and chips and I ordered hot roast beef with mashed potatoes. They were smothered in gravy and although it looked like a lot of spuds, I ate the whole thing! Delicious! Part of the charm was that I didn’t have to cook. 😊 We were home to Gibbs soon after 6. Bill found a movie that we could watch while I worked on my blog. This has been yet another good day.

Confusion on Sunday, Walks, Puzzle and Pool

On Sunday, Nov. 13^th arrives and we were up by 7:30. I was feeling quite comfy snuggled down under the covers when Bill and Gibbs got up for their morning constitution. At the same time, when I saw Bill was getting up shortly after 7, I followed suit. I don’t like wasting a morning.

After getting dressed for the weather, it was only 37F/3C, with long sleeves and my new jacket, Gibbs and I went for a nice walk. It was going to warm up nicely and the clear sunny sky was telltale of that. Back home, I had tea and some cereal with Bill. The confusion came about when I dressed to go into Yuma for groceries. Bill didn’t seem to be getting ready and as it turned out, we got our wires crossed.

He was thinking we weren’t going anywhere today. Woops! That’s okay, the groceries can wait until tomorrow and laundry, which I was going to do tomorrow can wait until Tuesday. 😉 Knowing that, at 10 I walked up to work in the puzzle until noon hour.

Back home, we had Cinnamon rolls for lunch and then I dressed for the pool. No one was there and although the wind felt a bit cool, the water was lovely.

After a float around on a park provided noodle, I found the best spot out of the breeze to stretch out with my book. I knew Bill would be reading back home so didn’t return to our site until 3. More reading and fitting in a walk for the little gapher, before we started prepping supper. Bill grilled our pork kabobs and inside I cooked us each a vegetable. You may have noticed that Bill and I have very different tastes for veggies, it’s just one of those things! 😆

After loading the dishwasher, I worked on my blog and then delved into my book again. It is another good story, David Baldacci’s Redemption, and I’m enjoying it very much. This was a great day, doing even more things that I love. ♥

Two Walks! A Bit of Shopping, Relaxing Afternoon

On Saturday, Nov. 5^th we were up at 7. Gibbs has been sleeping in, even after he and I were up in bed by 9:30. Actually, sooner but it was then that I climbed under the covers. He slept the whole time! We had a tea and coffee but skipped cereal this morning. No reason that I can think of. I had a blog to finish, I just wasn’t in the mood to work on it last night.

When Bill took Gibbs out at 6:45 they went for a nice little walk. When I got up 15 minutes later, I got ready to take him for a walk. Bill said ‘two walks today?!’ I didn’t realize how long they’d been out but we went anyway for another little one. ♥ After working on my blog post and getting both of our calendars reset, we got cleaned up and left Gibbs in charge for a few hours.

Yuma was busy but us going today gives us a free ‘slouch-around’ day tomorrow, unless something comes up. 😉 Our luck at the Allpoints ATMs was not with us this morning, both the Target and CVS store machines were not working. The Allpoints lets us withdraw cash at no cost where others including the banks charge a fee. The CVS we go to has had an ‘out of order’ sign on it since last year. LOL

We fueled up at a Speedway, cheapest we could find at $5.09/gal and then headed to the Arizona Market. Bill is looking for a collapsible ladder, ours has had a boo boo, making it unusable. ☹ No luck at the market and the ATM there would only allow us to w/d so much cash, which we each took turns doing. Back towards town, we picked up a few food items and then stopped at a Wells Fargo to get the balance of what we like to have on hand.

It was noon hour, AZ time, so we headed home for lunch rather than stop somewhere. We each had a sandwich and basically just relaxed for the rest of the day. It feels funny doing dishes by hand again, but for the stay here we’ve agreed to do that to save on electric and water.

Yesterday, I asked Bill to get my chair out but the little flies are bad in this area. Ah yes, we remembered quickly what Pilot Knob was like last year. At that time, I thought maybe it was from Gibbs’ piddling close to camp but they were here when we arrived. They get inside and their life ends once we catch them, is it worth it for them? Ha ha. Small price for us to pay for an overnight spot for a few days. 😊

I sat and finished my book and the boys dozed on and off in their chair. Gibbs couldn’t seem to settle until Daddy took him out for a piddle. Bill had a bit of a headache so when he and Gibbs went up to the bedroom, I slipped out for a walk by myself. I headed east towards the mountain where ‘steps’ are formed down the rocky slope.

I’m not a hiker by any means so going skyward was not in the plans but I enjoyed the trek across the terrain and found a couple of suitable self-made ledges to get a couple of selfies. My buddy, Pat, sent me some ideas in an email last year so I wondered if I could create something to send back home to her. It kind of worked but not very professional. Yet! Give me time! Ha ha

Back home, I poured Bill a Zero Coke and myself a beer margarita with lots of ice. It is a beautiful day and I’m sure we reached today’s forecasted high of 75F/24C with little to no wind. Down here, in the southwest, that is more like 80F/27C here in the dry desert. 😊 We love it! For supper, Bill grilled bacon cheeseburgers on the Weber Q and with a bit of room leftover, we had ice cream cones for dessert.
