Cold, Warm, Cool. Bread and Squares.

Park Place RV Park

On Wednesday, Nov. 29th we edge towards the end of the month and what………26 days to Christmas. Until I get my decorations up, it just doesn’t seem like it here. I don’t need snow to make it feel like the season is upon us, just decor and music. We woke up to a chilly 43F/6C with partially cloudy skies. The forecast was to reach 67F/19C but we’ll need sunshine to make it shorts weather. 😊

My walk with Gibbs

My walk with my shadow mate

Bill had his shower first thing and then after he left, Gibbs and I went for our walk. I had shorts on and many top layers to start but when we returned from our walk, I slipped into long pants and walked to Family Dollar. They didn’t have all that I was looking for but I did find a few things before returning home. The sun was out by then, an hour later, and I was feeling warmed up. At 10, I walked to work on the puzzle and among the 3 of us, we had it finished shortly after 11:30.

Zooming in across the way to the
Q Mountain. Fond memories of climbing
that with Bill, Gerry and Melinda in 2016/17.
Our first year.

Back home, Bill was smiling. That means good news regarding his luck at the flying field. 😊 We had lunch, salmon sandwiches, and then I began my second loaf of bread in the bread maker. I went outside to the gazebo but wasn’t really in the painting mood. The sun had disappeared again so it felt cool.

The barbed wire fencing keeps you out of
well, nothing really. 😂
But it does remind me of days on the farm.

The boys were sleeping inside so I came in quietly and began my blog. By the way, I’ve been watching my series, Justified, and doing some binging. Raylen Gibbons is quite entertaining. Thank you, Sue! I’m pretty sure that Billy the Kid is available to me again too. Our afternoon followed the regular normality with the exception that I made Peanut Butter Rice Krispie squares for a change. We just happened to have the right ingredients.

Bill charging batteries outside
with his bright Piper Cub at his heels.
Things are good today.

After my tea, Gibbs and I walked before I started warming up supper. Everything was leftovers except for our vegetables. We finished the meal off with a piece of pie tonight. Everything was good and filling. The package I’ve been waiting to be delivered back home is giving us grief. Well, not the package, but our Priceville post office. Seems they have a glich and our forwarding info has not gone through. We’ll check tomorrow and will know more then.

This sky, on our afternoon walk, is
incredible! Look how the sun is just dropping
below the rim of clouds.

My little walking partner beats
a shadow mate any day. 💗

Bill loaded the dishwasher and I finished my blog. After supper, we had a really nice phone call from our friends, Dave and Cheryl. Still back in Canada, it was wonderful to hear their voices.

Tonight's supper.

This has been a good day, relatively quiet. I hope yours has been a good one as well!

Today's creations.
Good night!

Thank you for popping by.

A Wet, Cloudy, Cool Day for a Change 😊 Two Special Birthdays, Trip down Memory Lane

The Ridge

On Tuesday, May 11th, you must know when I make that statement that I am being totally sarcastic. We’ve had so many wet, cloudy, cool days lately that when we get a sunny one, it will be like drinking a few margaritas! We’ll be giddy as heck. Well, I will be for sure!

At least the sun was trying to greet us

enough already!

Bill was up early to the bathroom and took Gibbs out for his first piddle. He brought him up to our bed at 5 but I was still tired and all Gibbs wants to do is play and nibble on our fingers and faces. He put him back in his crate and rejoined me in bed until 6 when he got up again for work. He seems to think after being in his crate all night that the bed means playtime. Well, it is but not for puppies. 😊

he was shivering this morning so I covered him up

After my sweetie left, I made my tea and sat at my laptop. It isn’t a nice day out there at all, windy and a cool 2C with the odd pouches of rain. My desire for being outside for any length of time has gone out the window right now so I’m really looking forward to Thursday when sunshine is ‘promised’. Gibbs was out for a run around and his business and I fed him at 9. He sure is feeling good, gobbled it right up.

A lot of winged visitors today

I'll be picking up more oranges on Wednesday
By the end of today, he'd emptied the jam

Around 7:30 I called my daughter. Today is her birthday and I knew that she works from home these days so wouldn’t be driving anywhere.

Happy Birthday, Bridgette
My brown-eyed girl 💗

We had a nice chit chat again and it sounds like her sweetie is spoiling her right and proper too! 😊 After our catch-up conversation, we said goodbye and I called my step-daughter. Today is also her birthday – 14 years apart.

Happy Birthday, Jess 💗

Proof of our lazy day and this is early

Changing positions a few times to get comfy

He slept and played and slept some more in his bed for a couple of hours giving me the opportunity to bake some healthy desserts for us. I found a recipe for Keto Chocolate Chip Cheesecake Bars and a Keto Peanut Butter Pie so they were my challenges this morning. I was finished by 11 and that made me appreciate getting up at 6:30. The day was still young. They are both in the fridge and/or freezer, looking quite tasty.

This is a good one

This one is even better

Better yet

The very best 😂

I started my blog and then sat in my chair with my crocheting. That is one good thing about the cool weather, it is getting closer and closer to being something. LOL It was after my blog was written last night that we had a lovely phone call from our Illinois friends. We met Ken and Nancy our first year (2012) in Silver Lake, MI at Silver Creek RV Resort but didn’t really get to know them.

Our 2nd year at Silver Creek RV Resort
2013

Ken and Nancy across the street from us

The second year, we camped across from each other. This was our second trip with our 2011 29’ 5th wheel Cougar. They had their Frontier travel trailer. We had Clemson, they had 2 boxers. We got along well and planned a yearly meetup by booking our sites close to each other a year in advance. 😊 It seemed that each year after, we all had a different RV .

Third year with our Jayco Designer and first King Ranch

Their new trailer in 2014

The third year, 2014, we met them with our 2010 35’ Jayco Designer, they had a Windjammer travel trailer. See the pattern? We were very much alike! My recollections and pictures of our journeys together make me smile and even laugh. We’d talked a lot in our weeks spent together each year as well as over the phone from our home bases.

2015 We were able to secure a spot beside each other
with our new units

In August 2015, we arrived with our new home, our current Model Suite and Black Beauty. Were we surprised when they pulled in after us with a brand new Grand Design Solitude 5th wheel!

Rick and Amy were on the other side of us

The connections continued and we enjoyed our new friendship. We traveled to Michigan one more summer to meet our friends and this year, we each had the same trailers but their son and daughter-in-law joined us with their White Hawk travel trailer. Rick and Amy stayed for just a few days.

Nancy and Ken

At noon hour, Gibbs and I went out again to take care of business and he was rewarded with a treat. When he came inside, he was wandering looking for something to get into so I had to stomp my feet a few times to distract him. Gosh, he’s so darn cute! I made a coffee and had a nibble of cheese and pepperonis. I’d had a bowl of cereal with strawberries earlier so wasn’t too hungry.

Someone found my slipper and dragged it around for a while
trying to keep it from me

The sky is getting darker, heavier with clouds as the afternoon wears on. The wind isn’t dying down any either so it is a good choice to stay inside except for the little guys business. I’m glad we found him, it is giving me a responsibility that gets me up and out for a purpose on a day when I have no desire to move! 😊 Of course, that isn’t the only reason. In his bed, Gibbs continued to sleep in many contortions. We laugh because Clemson never ever slept on his back when he hung his head over the edge.

That wind never let up all day

When the little guy finally moved, at each time he moves after a sleep, we go out. We have a little bell hanging on the door as a few have suggested this as a way to teach him to tell us when he has a need to piddle. Gibbs isn’t quite getting the hang of that but we are persistent and will do our best to have him touch it when we take him out. Yes, we’ve had a few little accidents and some ‘no-no half accidents’ but no, we don’t really want to have piddle mats in the Suite as I believe that encourages him to go in the house.

It was a lazy day and there’s no better proof of that then  my pictures of L.J. Gibbs. I made my afternoon tea around 4:30 and Bill was home by 5.

Supper tonight was sloppy Joe’s for Bill and sloppy cauliflower rice for me. I’ve eaten quite a few carbs recently so thought tonight I’d go easy on them. Gibbs indicated that he wanted up on Bill’s lap in a subtle way (something we want to encourage) for their naps so I started supper around 5:30.

My sloppy rice meal

We heard a noise outside and it was FedEx dropping off my Wayfair parcel. Yay! There are still a few more things to come over the next few days. Supper turned out to be very tasty and it was also an easy meal. For dessert we each had one of my newly baked keto cookie bars. Another success. With dishes done and Bill’s lunch made, the evening was ours to enjoy. I worked on my blog and we watched NCIS at 8.

Bill's sloppy Joe's

This was a really lazy day for Gibbs and I but we enjoyed the time together with no distractions. 😉

We were rewarded with a beautiful sunset
Maybe this is the start of something special 💗
Good night y'all!

Thank you for your visit.

Tough Call, Who Invited Winter Back?

The Ridge, Priceville, On

On Sunday, Mar. 28th we were up around 7:30 to greet this wet day. The rain had been washing over us through the night but Bill said it was just light. That will certainly green things up since it was still mild around 5C/40F or so. It was still raining. No walk this morning, which went well with my ‘no desire’. 😊 We had our coffee and tea and sat and read some blogs. I, of course, had to finish my own from yesterday’first.

My first picture is of food, so it was 11:30
before I lifted my camera
Our sandwiches were delicious!

I had a bag of household garbage, no food, sitting outside by the recycle bins from before I’d brought our garbage bags here. Anything I cleaned with, or emptied, went in the bag. Some critter, perhaps Chippy or a Coon decided to investigate. It couldn’t have taken them long to discover that there was no food in it as the mess wasn’t bad at all. The wind had blown some tissue paper and empty packaging across the yard. I went out and gathered it up. It didn't feel too bad out there other than soggy.

Then Alex arrived, soon after the rain stopped
and set to work spreading gravel down by the Hangar

Bill will spread a bit by hand to bring it next to the shed frame
but this save him (us) a ton of man handling

The rain continued throughout the morning and it warmed up to 9C/47F before it stopped. We were 'warned' that we could see some wet snow flurries this afternoon into the overnight so it might be a surprise as to what we see in the morning. No worries, we are warm and have everything we need. The fog had made another brief appearance but it didn’t last long and the robins and redwing blackbirds are searching the grass for wiggly worms.

I sent Bill out with the camera
This is excitement in our neighbourhood 😊

I took this picture from inside the Suite
I wanted the 'Supervisor' in the picture

Bill took the rest of these pictures for me

At 11:30, I began frying some bacon for brunch. Today, it was toasted bacon, cheese and tomato sandwiches for a change. They were very good. We did the dishes and then made a very upsetting but very necessary phone call. Other than sending a condolence card, we hadn’t talked to our good friend, Derrick, since he lost his beloved Kathy. It has been just over 2 weeks and we need to let him know that he has been on our mind and in our prayers, daily, nightly. 😭

It was a bigger tractor than we expected so it made quick work
of the job but he couldn't get as close to the shed
Bill will clean this up a bit too

What do you say? What don’t you say? It was hard not to blurt out the normal phone utterances. “Hi, how are you?” Stupid question, we know how he is, so we focused intently on the flow of the beginning conversation especially. It was tough, for him, and for us but we are so glad to have heard his voice. It just breaks our hearts again to hear the full story and to know that he has lost his world, his whole world. I won’t go on but it was better we call him than he calls us – which was on his list of things to do. Bill and I are worried about those single steps each day he has to take and how he'll move on.

And from there, the day went to 'hell in a handbasket'
Those are snow droplets you can barely see

Across the ponds, it was getting windy and the air was white

Not only the air was white here

Since we were sitting at our laptops, I first checked the BizyBee auction site to see what I had bid on and then moved on to the project I started yesterday with photos. Bill sat across from me and worked on his blog posting. ðŸ˜‰ It is the perfect day for this kind of thing. He finished and you can check it out here. In the back of my mind, while I putter away, is what to have for supper. Our freezer is getting pretty empty and that is a good thing, to clean up old stuff, but it means we may be eating some of the same thing for a few days. I’ll have to get creative with farmers sausage!

The windows were steamy and snow covered
Spring?

As it turned out, we had one beef loin roast in the freezer so Madame IP gave it the royal treatment. With it, we had potato, carrots, onions, corn for Bill and broccoli for me, and gravy to top it off. For dessert we had a caramel custard and I was stuffed.

Most of my pictures are not worthy of the camera
but this one could go in a magazine!
Bonus that it tasted just as wonderful.

We did dishes and by this time, the blizzard outside had turned everything white and our windows were steamed from cooking. Maybe it was a good thing to NOT be able to see out there!

The little custard dessert with caramel was light
after such a big meal

Bill had his shower and I worked on my blog posting. We will both be working tomorrow and by then, hopefully the sun will take care of the snow. 😜 We watched movies most of the afternoon and I actually found myself involved in a couple while reading some of my book. Last night, 20 minutes into the Sunflower movie, we were falling asleep so we recorded it on our PVR and will watch it another night.

I couldn't see out the window so dared to open the door
before I settled in front of the tv for the night
Yeuch! At least it shouldn't last. Warm day, 16C/62F tomorrow
but then a couple of frigid days again before temperatures get back to normal
in the early teens. (13C/52F)

This was a nice day. Oh! I almost forgot! As you can tell by my pictures: Guess who doesn’t mind fulfilling an obligation on Sunday? Alex, the gravel guy, had told us he’d be back Saturday afternoon with his front loader to spread what he dumped. He didn’t make it so we figured he’d be here on Monday. A noise drew my attention to the window around 2 and he was here to do the job. It didn’t take long and with the monster tractor, he did the best he could for a small cash fee. We are very pleased.

Today's memory is at Marshall, OK
On our way home from our first winter adventure south
Mar. 28, 2017
Good night!

Thanks for popping around to see how our day was. We’re not crazy about the bit of winter, but it is March and hopefully, the next 3 days of March are more ‘lamblike’. 😊
