Someone Gets the Full Treatment, Cool Day

Park Place RV Resort

There were a few spatters of leftover rain when Bill took Gibbs out at 6:30 on Wednesday, Feb. 23rd. By the time we went for our walk at 7:45, it had stopped. It was still windy and a cool 48F/8C under mostly cloudy skies. I dressed appropriately though and it was quite a nice, mid walk. No encounters with any critters today but I’ll tell you that I am ever watchful. Not used to being out here this late in the year.

Good morning, the sky is unpredictable

Back home Bill had Gibbs’ breakfast ready but he only pecked at it, off and on, while we sat and had our morning drinks and Bill had his cereal. It wasn’t that he thought we were going anywhere so perhaps he was just nervous. 😊 He is getting a full groom and pampering (not that he thinks of it that way!) at Tara’s Grooming. Tara seems like a sweet lady and her reviews are very good. Gibbs badly needs a cut and nail trim and it’s only been 2 months.

Gibbs meets yet another doggie along our walk
this one at the back of their 'home'
Both were very calm

We dawdled around in the morning and at 11, I walked over to the clubhouse. It had rained off and on but not heavy at all. It stops in about 2 minutes so I don’t know what it’s doing for the landscape but it must help keep the dust down at least. I worked away at the puzzle and chatted with Heather and Don (3rd co-hosts) before returning at noon for lunch.

Walking around the block, this is the rv park

Bacon and eggs today and then we got cleaned up to go to town. We dropped our baby off at 1:30 and then drove over to Keuhn St. to the Gift Shop in Tyson Wells. We are looking for a particular greeting card for someone special with no luck. We didn’t find one there either and although there are a lot of puzzles, games etc. in the store, everything was quite pricey and we left shortly after.

Relaxing before the grooming

We returned home after taking a leisurely drive around Quartzsite, just touring the streets, killing time. Tara gave us a 2-hour window for when he’d be ready for pick up but we weren’t surprised when it was more like 2 ¾ hours. 😊 She is a small lady and he had a lot of hair. When we picked him up, for a minute I didn’t see ‘our’ Gibbs right away. I love his long curly hair but it was just too hot and he surely felt 100% better.

We got a tip at the K & B store on Main St.
to go to the Quartzsite Outpost near Gem World

It was a treat and we'll go back
So many books and all at $2 or less
This is the mystery section ♥

Her price was reasonable and we were both proud to hear that he was perfect. He loves the bath and she said he gave her no problem with his cut or his nails. Huh! No muzzle was required, the little bum behaved top notch. He obviously likes his Quartzsite groomer. Of course, it was rainy and wet when we picked him up so we all got a bit wet. Back home, we coddled him and oohed and aahed over his velvety coat and sweet smell. His face could have been trimmed more but we are still pleased and hadn’t specified what we wanted. He’s still a cutie patootie.

Meet the new pooch! Just kidding, Gibbs,
you sure have a different look ♥

For supper, Madame IP roasted a half pork loin and then gravy. On the stove, I fried the leftover potatoes and cooked each of our vegetables. My asparagus was a bit well done since it took the pork a few minutes longer than expected. Supper was delicious right down to the gravy. Yum! The good thing is that there are leftovers for another night or two so even though it seemed like a big deal to prepare, there is a bonus. 😊

It was a great meal

I loaded the dishwasher and turned it on and then sat with our little furball for the evening. He was pretty calm and laid back. That, today, was quite an experience for him! This was a nasty day for weather but it was still a great one.

And a beautiful sky

Good night everyone!

Thank you for stopping around.

A Not so Nice Saturday but Family Time Prevails

The Ridge

On Saturday, July 31st (last day of the month!!) after realizing that summer was half over (kind of) we were up out of bed around 7. Bill took Gibbs out and I made the bed and got washed for work. I left the house around 7:15 to go clean the Mat. It was messy as it often is, mostly just from inconsiderate patrons.

The day didn't look too promising
depending on which ways the clouds moved
This is looking east

The floor was littered with small paper, about 10 used dryer sheets, elastics and then I entered the bathroom. Someone had pulled the t.p holder open and removed the lower cabinet that covers the pipes. It is an old facility, true enough, but come on, do you have to wreck what is there? I grumbled at the rudeness of ‘some people’ and cleaned it up. Once the floor was swept, the rest of my job was pretty normal.

You never know what you're gonna find

From there I stopped at Foodland for some milk and the Water Depot for a jug of water before heading home. It was a coolish morning, feeling like it could rain at any time. Bill started cutting the lawn after I left and finished up after I returned home. Around noon, I made us western-type sandwiches for lunch. Bill had his on a toasted bun and had mine in a crispy tortilla. I couldn’t eat it all so will have the rest tomorrow. 😊

Our robins come and go
This bright fellow was searching for food

Before I left Gayle's, she dug up some Moonflowers
for us three ladies to take home
She has so many that constantly bloom
Mine didn't make it through the winter for some reason

I finished my blog post and remembered to send some pictures to my sisters from Ladyfest. I'd taken a couple of group shots. Bill and Gibbs went up for a snooze shortly after 2 and we spoke to my daughter about their plans for the day. They were driving from Woodstock to partake in the Acreage Campout but just for the day and evening. The weather was not cooperating with some scattered rain showers around 2 and then 3, stopping in between. Darn rain, go away!

We fit under the car canopy quite nicely
and the rain petered out

We packed a cooler and headed over for a couple of hours before supper. We’d return later for a campfire if it worked out. The rain was trying its darnedest to be a deterrent but it didn’t win out. We moved to a bigger shelter where all 14 chairs would fit. It was nice to see our cousin, Harvey, and Mom’s only remaining brother, Uncle Jerry, and our niece, Joanne, as well. Chris, Jake and Bridgette arrived about 20 minutes after us and with a little urging, the boys played guitar while Bridgette sang along. Serenaded under the canopy.

Because of the rain, wet grass and mud
Bill and I took turns 'containing' our little wild fire
He was pretty good for the most part

Chris and Bridgette serenated us
with a few songs
They're so special together 💖

Then my grandson, Jake, took over

The talent was rich under the tent cover 😊

Around 7, Bill, Gibbs and I returned home for hot dogs and chips while the rest of the campers ate theirs. We agreed that Gibbs would stay home when we went back for he campfire, he would likely sleep after his busy day and we could relax a little easier. It was tricky slipping out of the house but after his supper and a short walk, he took a treat and I snuck out. (sneakily 😊). The rain seemed to have stopped and by this time, my youngest sister, Wendy, had also arrived for the evening.

The hot dogs hit the spot

At the Acreage there are a couple of cabins available, one quite rustic, for overnight guests and room for rv’s of all kinds, but no one else other than Gayle and John were staying the night. The yearly gathering, lately, has become much smaller than the usual 40 visitors that used to attend, with about 30+ regular campers staying for the whole weekend. As our childrens’ families grew, so did their commitments to other things which drew them away. Today, we celebrated Donna and Gerry's 11th anniversary, having tied the knot under a big tent right on the Acreage property. 😍

We knew he would be fine at home for a few hours
without being in his crate

We take it for what it is and enjoy every smiling face that shows up for however long they can. It was a good campfire, Bill was the Fire Master tonight and the dampness of the previous night and earlier day seemed to have dissipated. It didn’t feel too cold and the hungry mosquitoes from the wet daytime weren’t as apparent. Thank goodness they only appeared for a short time and went on their way. Donna and Gerry were watching the bats fly overhead, enjoying the feast!

A cute picture from the other day of
Gibbs watching tv

At home by 11, we finished watching a movie we’d started earlier and were in bed by midnight. It was a great day despite the showers. 😊

The sky was gorgeous on the drive over to
the Acreage and the setting sun was a lovely
red
It sets behind the trees so I couldn't get to it
for a picture
Good night!

Thank you for popping in. Your comments are always appreciated.

A Wet Start to the Weekend, Canada Day Plans or Not?

The Ridge

On Friday, June 18th it was wet out from the 4 am thunderstorm and rains. I didn’t hear it but Bill did. He didn’t hear any complaints from Gibbs so hopefully he, like Clemson, will not be bothered by the noise of the rumbles. Bill was ready to leave for work around 7 and kissed us goodbye as we snuggled in my recliner. Seems, already, Gibbs is adopting this habit of sitting with Mom after Daddy leaves. He slept again for half hour while I read. 😊

the overcast skies hung around all day

After he ate his breakfast at 8, he was ringing the bell a few times. A piddle each time but mostly because he wanted to play. The last time, we got wet and there still were no poops. I want to take him with me to Elmwood so he’ll have to leave some droppings before we go in the car or he won’t be comfortable. I made a Crustless Quiche for my lunches for a few days. A step in the right direction.

all ready for the oven

It looked good before it cooked but even better after and oh, that smell? The sky was overcast and we were in for on and off showers all day. I’ll be surprised if Bill and the boys manage to finish their job this morning. He likes to be home early on Friday anyway but after having a day off this week because of weather, they may try and stick it out longer. I’d put together my list of Norwex products that I wanted from my $104 free as well as some items I would pay for. 😊 Now to wait to hear from Marie on how I place my orders.

All done!

Around 10, I took Gibbs out once more and we hopped in the car soon after. No point in him staying home, we would be together in the car with one quick stop at the auction place. I paid for and picked up my stuff and we drove back home towards Hanover on #10 and made the jig jog east and then south again. There is a spot with a trail just as you enter the town limits along the Saugeen River (oh yeah, you are all familiar with that river by now). This is just another location.

It is about a 40 minute drive

Through Allan Park which is almost a non-town

I pulled into the parking lot and although you could walk on either side of the street, I took Gibbs out for a short walk along the lovely, well-shaded trail to the west. I think I have my directions right.

It's a nice trail

We didn’t go too far as little Mr. Timid put the brakes on half way through. “Exactly where are we going, Mom?” So, I turned around and he raced back to the vehicle. Not that he wanted to get in, he does not like the seatbelt set-up we have right now. With some persuasion, we were in and off for home.

Gibbs kept an eye in the woods 😀
My protector

Gibbs wasn't thrilled to be back on his seat belt so I calmed him
down with my dash Teddy bear

It was just around noon hour so I made a plate with my quiche, olives and tomato for lunch. I was ready for the freshly ‘brewed’ coffee too. 😊

I went through my stuff and except for one thing that I will resell, I did well. Bill and I both wanted some fingerless leather-type gloves for riding on Jazz for those hotter days. One lot had a few different things in it but included about 6 pair, various sizes. We are all set now for a mere $3 + tx.

These new sheets were a good deal too

I also got some puzzles and a new king size sheet set so it was worth the drive over. Bill got home soon after, while I was still finishing up lunch. Nice to have an early Friday. Marie and I set up a time for a conversation this afternoon to place my order but she got delayed so around 3:30, we connected. I’ll be anxious to receive the packages with all my goodies! Bill went down to the Hangar so his timing was good. Gibbs has been sleeping so I was hoping he wouldn't need out throughout my chat. 😟

But the best deal was all this for $3

Well, as it turned out, Gibbs slept through the whole conversation and I hung up very excited about my rewards and purchases. We both dozed, Gibbs and I, and then around 4:30 I woke him up and took him for a walk. It was feeling warm inside the Suite even though we haven’t had hardly any sun all day. The humidity was high and the air outside felt good. We went down to see Bill at the Hangar and his trailer and we all walked back to the back side of the west pond.

On our drive, we passed a field of happy horses

Someone is selling some re-e-a-l-l-y old trucks

For supper, tonight, we had fish and chips. I only had a few chips, choosing string beans and carrots instead for my filler. No need for dessert again tonight. During dishes, of course, the little bum needed out but we try our best to accommodate when we can unless we know he’s playing games. (which is a lot) 😊

A nice supper tonight

The clouds darkened up and we got a few more spatters of rain. Along the horizon, there was some lightening up, so, hope for tomorrow.

Some brightness below the clouds

We've been up and down this hill a lot today

This was a good day and we were able to spend the afternoon together. Bill took Gibbs out ‘off’ leash for a run before his supper and he was very, very good. Funny but he didn’t go over into the long grass – of course, no Chippys tempted him either. Before the evening ended, we had settled plans for our Canada Day dinner.

Gibbs doesn't walk well yet, he more or less hop

                                                                  When Bill said where's Mom

as encouragement to get him inside

this is the result - Mama's boy?

                                                                      GOOD NIGHT!!

Thank you for stopping in to see what we’re up to. Your comments are welcome, as always.

Tough Call, Who Invited Winter Back?

The Ridge, Priceville, On

On Sunday, Mar. 28th we were up around 7:30 to greet this wet day. The rain had been washing over us through the night but Bill said it was just light. That will certainly green things up since it was still mild around 5C/40F or so. It was still raining. No walk this morning, which went well with my ‘no desire’. 😊 We had our coffee and tea and sat and read some blogs. I, of course, had to finish my own from yesterday’first.

My first picture is of food, so it was 11:30
before I lifted my camera
Our sandwiches were delicious!

I had a bag of household garbage, no food, sitting outside by the recycle bins from before I’d brought our garbage bags here. Anything I cleaned with, or emptied, went in the bag. Some critter, perhaps Chippy or a Coon decided to investigate. It couldn’t have taken them long to discover that there was no food in it as the mess wasn’t bad at all. The wind had blown some tissue paper and empty packaging across the yard. I went out and gathered it up. It didn't feel too bad out there other than soggy.

Then Alex arrived, soon after the rain stopped
and set to work spreading gravel down by the Hangar

Bill will spread a bit by hand to bring it next to the shed frame
but this save him (us) a ton of man handling

The rain continued throughout the morning and it warmed up to 9C/47F before it stopped. We were 'warned' that we could see some wet snow flurries this afternoon into the overnight so it might be a surprise as to what we see in the morning. No worries, we are warm and have everything we need. The fog had made another brief appearance but it didn’t last long and the robins and redwing blackbirds are searching the grass for wiggly worms.

I sent Bill out with the camera
This is excitement in our neighbourhood 😊

I took this picture from inside the Suite
I wanted the 'Supervisor' in the picture

Bill took the rest of these pictures for me

At 11:30, I began frying some bacon for brunch. Today, it was toasted bacon, cheese and tomato sandwiches for a change. They were very good. We did the dishes and then made a very upsetting but very necessary phone call. Other than sending a condolence card, we hadn’t talked to our good friend, Derrick, since he lost his beloved Kathy. It has been just over 2 weeks and we need to let him know that he has been on our mind and in our prayers, daily, nightly. 😭

It was a bigger tractor than we expected so it made quick work
of the job but he couldn't get as close to the shed
Bill will clean this up a bit too

What do you say? What don’t you say? It was hard not to blurt out the normal phone utterances. “Hi, how are you?” Stupid question, we know how he is, so we focused intently on the flow of the beginning conversation especially. It was tough, for him, and for us but we are so glad to have heard his voice. It just breaks our hearts again to hear the full story and to know that he has lost his world, his whole world. I won’t go on but it was better we call him than he calls us – which was on his list of things to do. Bill and I are worried about those single steps each day he has to take and how he'll move on.

And from there, the day went to 'hell in a handbasket'
Those are snow droplets you can barely see

Across the ponds, it was getting windy and the air was white

Not only the air was white here

Since we were sitting at our laptops, I first checked the BizyBee auction site to see what I had bid on and then moved on to the project I started yesterday with photos. Bill sat across from me and worked on his blog posting. 😉 It is the perfect day for this kind of thing. He finished and you can check it out here. In the back of my mind, while I putter away, is what to have for supper. Our freezer is getting pretty empty and that is a good thing, to clean up old stuff, but it means we may be eating some of the same thing for a few days. I’ll have to get creative with farmers sausage!

The windows were steamy and snow covered
Spring?

As it turned out, we had one beef loin roast in the freezer so Madame IP gave it the royal treatment. With it, we had potato, carrots, onions, corn for Bill and broccoli for me, and gravy to top it off. For dessert we had a caramel custard and I was stuffed.

Most of my pictures are not worthy of the camera
but this one could go in a magazine!
Bonus that it tasted just as wonderful.

We did dishes and by this time, the blizzard outside had turned everything white and our windows were steamed from cooking. Maybe it was a good thing to NOT be able to see out there!

The little custard dessert with caramel was light
after such a big meal

Bill had his shower and I worked on my blog posting. We will both be working tomorrow and by then, hopefully the sun will take care of the snow. 😜 We watched movies most of the afternoon and I actually found myself involved in a couple while reading some of my book. Last night, 20 minutes into the Sunflower movie, we were falling asleep so we recorded it on our PVR and will watch it another night.

I couldn't see out the window so dared to open the door
before I settled in front of the tv for the night
Yeuch! At least it shouldn't last. Warm day, 16C/62F tomorrow
but then a couple of frigid days again before temperatures get back to normal
in the early teens. (13C/52F)

This was a nice day. Oh! I almost forgot! As you can tell by my pictures: Guess who doesn’t mind fulfilling an obligation on Sunday? Alex, the gravel guy, had told us he’d be back Saturday afternoon with his front loader to spread what he dumped. He didn’t make it so we figured he’d be here on Monday. A noise drew my attention to the window around 2 and he was here to do the job. It didn’t take long and with the monster tractor, he did the best he could for a small cash fee. We are very pleased.

Today's memory is at Marshall, OK
On our way home from our first winter adventure south
Mar. 28, 2017
Good night!

Thanks for popping around to see how our day was. We’re not crazy about the bit of winter, but it is March and hopefully, the next 3 days of March are more ‘lamblike’. 😊
