A Very Lazy Day, Sky Pictures Mostly

Park Place RV Park

First thing on Friday, Feb. 9th, we were all up shortly after 7. I showered after my tea. I’d debated going to get my hair cut in town yesterday but with everything else, I decided to just trim my bangs and leave it for now. I’ll see how long I can go before I change my mind about that!

I'm not quite sure why the blur but it
is still a pretty sunrise

The morning was a bit cool with an uncertain sky. Some clouds, some blue, some sun. When the sun was not hidden behind a cloud, it was lovely and warm, although only 57F/14C for a high temperature all day. With the puzzle done, and the music jam tomorrow, there was no reason to be at the clubhouse this morning or this afternoon. Bill and I just hung out at home. We had lunch together, minced pork sandwiches, and they were very tasty.

Clouds, blue sky and sun.
All day, it varied until late afternoon.

Bill dozed and I took a book and dvd over to the library before carrying on for a walk in the fresh air. I wandered back through the park and around the Arizona Sun RV Resort behind us. I see they have a yard sale advertised for tomorrow morning so I may have to go and check it out after 8. It was a nice fresh air walk and when I returned home, rather than sitting, I scrubbed the shower floor. It was looking dirty.

Pictures from our walks

Bill teases now about the blinding gleam when he walks in there. 😊 Well, good! I started reading a new book called The Weight of Silence by Heather Gudenkauf. There are mixed reviews so I will have to see what I think. So far, at page 44, I’m interested. Around 5, Gibbs and I went for our walk but the sun had disappeared and the wind made it feel cool. I shortened the walk. Sorry Gibbs!

Here I am on my own, walking west

For supper, we had leftovers. Hot turkey sandwiches with gravy, dressing and a vegetable. It was very good but far too much. What we couldn’t eat was disposed of, it was very little. It did clean up 3 dishes from the fridge at the same time. We’ll get into a movie tonight or a book.

The street behind us with the two rv parks
runs north/south
I'll come back in the morning to check out the sale
at the park where the big sign is

It looks like we’ll be seeing 6 days in a row of full sun so that should bring our daytime temperatures back up a bit. That needs to happen, this is Quartzsite, Arizona! This has been a good, quiet day together. Thank you for the support regarding yesterday's post.

If you use your imagination,
you might see a mama cuddling a
babe in her arms.

One commenter is asking for details, suggesting that I was no help regarding a new scam to watch out for. But it isn’t a new scam. It started with a laptop shutting down, a note on screen to call Microsoft in order to retrieve it – etc. etc. If it happens to you, shut it down and call your bank or Geek Squad, whoever you have connection with. From talking to others, similar instances have happened a lot over a number of years.

Way too much supper tonight, but
we cleaned things up one way or the other.
After 3 nights, it was time.
Good night!

Thank you for stopping by.

A Much Lazier Day in Spite of my Plans, Dad

The Ridge

On Sunday, Aug. 6th it was a wonderful feeling to realize that I didn’t have to do anything today. My internal alarm still goes off around 6 but it is nice to know that I can go back to sleep. I still got up at 7, Bill and Gibbs had been up at 6:30, and came down for my tea. Bill was soon ready to head to the flying field and left by 8. He was still hooked up with his cargo trailer but was mostly intent on continuing his search.

Gibbs and I watched Bill leave with the
cargo trailer

Looking out our window, I saw Mrs. Oriole
drinking from the hummer feeder

A lot of commenters have suggested a tracker of some sort on his planes and they are all great ideas – however, right now, he’s looking for a crashed plane without one. Even if it had one, the engine, fuselage etc. could be far too damaged for it to survive. No black box. 😊 haha. I finished my tea while writing yesterday's blog and had the thought in my head that I would do a few things this morning.

It was a beautiful morning

Perhaps I would weed my garden on the big corral hill, perhaps I would wash the back windows of the Suite, and perhaps go down to the gate and cut out some of the bushes that are impeding entrance through the little ‘man’ gate Bill added to the east side. I knew we had left our small cooler at the Acreage last night, so I wanted to go back this morning before Patrick left. He stayed overnight in one of their cabins. It was so dark when we left last night that we missed it.

Gibbs enjoyed the ride today
with his floppy ears blowing in the wind

It's like a whole new adventure for him

I managed to push myself to go for a walk with Gibbs, I picked some wildflowers, I did get down to trim the bushes in the corner of the gate and we did get over to the Acreage to retrieve the cooler. Gibbs and I sat for an hour or longer with Donna, Gerry and Patrick before we returned home. Gibbs sat in the passenger seat this time and I had to laugh each time he stuck his head out the window. I drive slow on the gravel road so he was very safe and enjoyed the ride. 😊

My lunch
I made his sandwich when I knew he was
on his way home

By this time, there wasn't a lot of sun

Back home, we just relaxed until Bill got home and basically all I did, was read my book. J.A. Jance is one of our favourite authors and this was an excellent book; so hard to put down until I turned the last page. Bill went over to get water from the Acreage and then we relaxed until supper.

My tomatoes are coming

With a few exceptions,
today's wildflowers display was
found along North Line

Because our day turned from clear skies and a warm 23C/73F to spotty rain showers and a cooler 15C/60F, I baked the pork chops rather than barbecuing them. With potatoes and our vegetables, it was a nice Sunday meal.

The meal was quite good

Bill called Jess, Matt and the little ones out in Alberta around 7:15 our time and we had a nice little catch up chat with them. I like how Jess likes to keep in touch and will text to arrange a facetime call every so often. Since my book is done, I’ll find something to watch on tv tonight. I started watching Jack Ryan the other night and 2 episodes in and I’m hooked. This was a great day and we have a few days of rain in the forecast again. Blech!

Happy Heavenly birthday, Dad!

Today, we remember my father-in-law. If he were still physically with us, Glenn would be turning 95 today.

Thank you for your visit!

Relaxing is the Word of the Day, Last Happy Hour with Friends

Roadrunner BLM, La Paz Valley

On Saturday, Apr. 2nd we started our day out early again. I think perhaps Gibbs is distracted by the open windows but especially the blinds and doesn’t go back to sleep after his first piddle and poop. He sits at the window and guards our site. 😊 I think I might also get distracted by the light of the morning and the view. “Look at that view!” I said as I looked out my window before the sun even came up.

Which road to take?

I didn't have to decide since Leroy Jethro had no
interest
He wanted to go home to see what Daddy was doing

Gibbs and I started out for our walk at 7 but he just wasn’t into it. He kept looking back at the Suite and Bill, who was in and out replenishing his food and our water from the basement. So, I brought him back and went for my own walk.

She's not green, but Mrs. Ocotillo has flowered

It was a beautiful morning with just a slight breeze. Back at home, I made my tea and sat outside with Gibbs rather than sitting inside. Bill soon joined me with his book.

Her flowers are beautiful but you might not
want to get too close
Look at those thorny arms

So, it was just me and my shadow
Shadows sure aren't flattering! 😄

This desert is much nicer than La Posa South
with no prickly baby cacti all over the ground
I came across this ritualistic design made of white stones

We decided to soak up the morning sun before it got too hot. The forecast today was for some wind gusts and a high of 84F/29C. Nothing to gripe about there! The sky is clear blue with a big ball of sun covering the desert surroundings.

A morning picture of these Saguaros
One is stripped of it's skin

Afternoon picture from the back
It would be neat to have one of these
skeletal forms back home

Around 9, my tea was so I brought my blankets out for my lounge chair. The webbing/duct tape fix isn’t going to hold for long. One already split, maybe the heat is more powerful than tape. Hmm.

I re-taped it and stretched out in as little as I could possibly wear and still be decent (!) and Bill sat beside me with his shirt off.

Bill finished the Lee Child book Blue Moon in 2 days
I told him it was a page turner!

We had a lovely breeze coming from the south, around the nose of the rv. It was quite strong at times and I just lifted my face into it.

I was hungry come noon hour so cooked our bacon and eggs outside on the bbq. After loading the dishwasher, we didn’t turn it on last night with our batteries on the lower spectrum, Bill turned it on.

Just plain bacon and sunny side up eggs
But special because I did them on the Weber Q

The generator gave us a bit of grief so we figured why overtax it? He tested it this morning, on and off, and it seems to be fine. That’s good news, mostly for our journey home if we are travelling under cloudy skies.

Cute Teddy Bear Chollas

When they are really close to the ground,
and you walk close, they jump onto your pant leg or shoe

They look really cuddly, but they're not!

A couple of conversations with Gayle and Judy confirmed Happy Hour here this afternoon. Judy and Gary are heading out tomorrow so it will be our last chance as a group enjoying the desert, the winter and good friends/family.

Off to the south, I could see these two cacti on the left
and they looked like crested Saguaros (but I knew they couldn't be)
When I zoomed in, even though the tops have been chopped
or broken off, new babies are growing
Note, the base trunk, she doesn't look that healthy!

Gibbs knew we were expecting something to happen
so played on the mat while we waited

They arrived shortly after 3 and left around 5. I don’t think we solved any world problems but they were sure discussed! For supper, Bill grilled Italian sausages and baked a couple of potatoes in foil. Inside, I made it simple and heated corn on the stove. We sat outside while everything cooked and prepared for a lovely sunset, which was bound to happen by the way the clouds had moved in.

So long, Judy and Gary! Safe travels! 💓

Everything was yummy. For dessert, we were spoiled. Judy brought some chocolate chip muffins to share. Yummy! We found it hot inside the Suite after eating so went back outside to the cooler, refreshing air. There was a lovely breeze so we took a walk around the adjacent sites. If it was always this private, it would be nicer to stay here than at La Posa South.

😋

Bill loaded the dishwasher when we came in and I worked on my blog. No promises that it will get done tonight, the fresh air today has hit me as has my beer margarita. I just felt very tired. Apparently, so did Gibbs as no sooner did we get his leash off and he was konked out on the floor. He’s been outside a lot today too. 😊 This has been a really nice, lazy day. We’re really enjoying this break. Here are some evening pictures.

So, it's Sunday morning and here I am to finish. We saw the ISS last night, it's amazing how it shows up and disappears exactly where their email to me says. I love that!

No justice in pictures
It was beautiful
Since it's morning, I'll say So long!

Thank you for your visit!

A Drop in Temperature, Lazy Day, An Invite to Supper

Park Place RV

On Tuesday, Mar. 29th Gibbs and I were up at 10 to 8. It was another one of those restless nights. I was too warm to drop off to sleep at 10 my own fault for not folding the duvet down. Then waking around midnight, I was just as hot and also couldn’t stop my mind from thinking. This morning, Gibbs woke up and Bill took him out at 6:30, then he went back to sleep.

Beautiful morning walk

At 7:15, when he crawled onto my chest and pawed at me, I’d asked him to go back to sleep for a bit. I was very surprised he went quiet for so long. 😊 He’s such a good little gapher (when he wants to be).

Another surprise today, this rainbow hung around for
the whole 30 minute walk

We went for our walk, leaving Bill in bed. It was the first time I’d seen a scorpion – thankfully squished on the pavement. Obviously, the rains brought him out.

Dead or alive, yeuch!

It was enough to keep my eyes double peeled for more as we walked. We actually got quite a bit of rainfall in the evening and at times through the night. A lot for here, anyway. Our windows were open and at one point the wet desert smell was too much for me and I closed my side window. The walk was a nice one but I was back to wearing long pants and a jacket, it was 56F/14C. Was I ever surprised to see two ends of a rainbow when we headed out. It lasted the whole walk.

Looking out the laundry room window

Lori and Roland were getting ready to pull
out - their chance to get things fixed
before moving on
Schatzi checking things out

After taking care of our 2 loads of laundry, Bill and I just hung around for the day. I had no puzzle to work on, deciding against starting a new one. I packed up a few things from the coffee table and entertainment centre, in preparation for our short journey on Friday. No point in getting ahead of myself but I think we’re ready for the move to take place. 😊

Someone is sleeping in my chair 💖

After multiple checks in the mirror, I’ve so decided that I don’t like my hair cut. I  checked out a few DIY Youtube videos on how to cut a shag style. I’ve cut my own hair often and if I were home, would do it in a beat but not here. I’m vain enough to know that this cut will drive me crazy if I don’t do something with it. I’ve debated calling Sandra and asking about a ‘redo’ but am a bit shy now of the result. Where’s my girlfriend, Brenda, when I need her?

Driving out to La Posa South always
makes for a double take

The black looks ominous
but it's just a clouds shadow

We sat, dozed and read our books and at 2:30 were pleasantly surprised with another invite to supper. This one from Judy and Gary out at La Posa South. We’re assuming Gayle and John will be there as well and hating to turn down such a nice offer, responded “Sure!” I had chicken thighs out but if I don’t have to cook, all the better. I’m not keen on the drive back in the pitch black again, but hopefully we’ll get our bearings going out and look for landmarks as we drive in. 😊

Gary, making a good 'Garcon!'

We left Gibbs home at 5:30 and headed south. Gayle and John have the big table on their patio so that’s where we were eating. Judy and Gary carried a pot roast, potatoes, carrots, gravy, salad and rolls over and what a great feast it was! Everything tasted wonderful, including the chocolate cake and whipped cream. Bill and I took our own drinks as always and my beer margaritas were good with the meal.

My camera comes out and this group goes crazy

Lots of great food and good times

Supper was yummy!

It was before 8 when we left with thank you’s all around but not before I made a flexible ‘hair appointment’ with Judy. I wasn’t sure if she’d be up for it but when Gayle told me the other day that she was cutting her hair………….the opportunity was there. 😊 I’ll be in touch with her to set things up. NOW I’m happier! We had no problem finding our way out of the desert tonight, paying much more attention to our surroundings.

Chocolate cake for dessert

Gibbs was waiting, with his happy piddles, and we settled down to watch our recorded programs while I worked on my blog. This has been a great day with a nice break from the heat!

Tonight, I caught the sunset
Good night!

Thank you for stopping in.
