Another Wonderful Day

The Ridge

On Friday, May 29th we had a couple of birthdays in our immediate family, so when Bill and I got up, we sent those messages off to the sons-in-law. Dennis and Cory, I hope you've had a wonderful day. Also a niece, whom I don't send cards to, but I hope Christa also enjoyed her day.

Good morning!
Gibbs greeted me at the door yesterday
with two toys in his mouth.
Talented little guy!

Bill left for work at 7:30 and Gibbs and I relaxed for the day. Nowhere to be today for me, so after a couple of walkabouts with Gibbs, on the property, we relaxed. We are waiting for our Amazon delivery so I have to keep a closer watch on Gibbs. These delivery guys drive him nuts because they don't stay to greet him.

Yesterday's blog mentioned
I'd find a picture of my 2nd oldest
Grandson, Jake (Jacob) and his partner, Carmen.
This is the best I could do but it is
obvious these wee babies will be dark haired
and gorgeous.

Robin texted from Nfld and asked if I could set out one of her sale items at the side door so I was able to drop off the bath mat I'd brought home from Williamsford to hang on our line. She and Andrew won't be home until Thursday so I said I'd continue to bring her mail into her house for her. She gets a lot in her mailbox.

On his leash, we braved the winds
and walked the laneway to check mail.
No delivery driver yet.

Back home, the winds had picked up and when I lost internet (it was area wide), I worked on greeting cards. That's never a hardship for me! I love quilling as long as the ideas keep flowing. 🤭 Bill was home by 3:30 and hopped in the shower. Yay, early Friday. They had a brief snooze before we left.

Not sure if this is a new nest this spring,
or remnants from last year.
This is the entry to Bill's Hangar.

We left Gibbs in charge and went to the curling club for 5 pm. Tonight we prepare C the A tickets with the committee members for two weeks as well as count and balance those sold this past week. We enjoy this group and the 1 1/2 to 2 hours out each week.

Speaking of nests, the 3 eggs are gone
and so are the parents.
I read that they hatch and as soon as the babies
are dried off, they fly off.
Crazy!
No evidence of tampering.

So, we wanted take our turn in buying drinks for the committee; 8 or 9 of us count and prepare tickets. I don't think it is 'required' but it is nice to do on occasion. Bill bought the first round, and before we knew it, Brian bought a round (I declined a second) and before long, Doug bought a round. LOL

This morning, this little guy
(probably 3" dia.) crossed
the laneway in front of me.
He sure bustled to get down
into the pond. Topsy turvy
but he righted himself and waited
for me to leave.

Needless to say, by the end of the 2 hours Bill was in no condition to drive - let alone walk. 🤭😉 We left, not winners again, but the weekly jackpot is growing. When we left, Bill suggested stopping at the food truck behind the Bank of Commerce. Hmm, great idea!

Bill trimmed the corral around my
messy garden. It's a thorn in my side.

I had poutine and he had a combo of smash burger and fries. All was very good and we ate it there at the picnic table. We'll be back.

And this smaller garden.
It's easier for me to weed
and maintain.

We'd planned to have supper at home so before I left I made sure to have a cup of tea. That filled me, especially with having an alcoholic drink at the club. Otherwise, it hits me too hard! 🤣 Such a cheap date, I am!

The view out 'my' crafting window.

At home, Bill hit the bed for half hour. It's been a while since he's been hit this hard with rum. He wanted to fly in the morning which meant charging planes overnight so set those up. Our Amazon order was delivered while we were out, quilling strips, card sleeves and buckle-less belts for me. ☺️

Gibbs slept in my chair
while I worked on my hobby.
Waiting for Daddy to come home.

This was a nice day, I enjoyed the peacefulness and ease of not having work today, although I would have jumped on a cleaning job for Robin if she needed me!

I finished 3 cards today.
I'm trying to cover the bases for
a variety of occasions.
Good night!

The weekend is here and so is some nice weather reaching 21.667 /71F again today. Nights are still cool (4.44C/40F tonight) for 3 or 4 more nights but the days are beautiful.

Thank you for the visit and all your congrats with our news.

A Dig in Our Heels Day, Poker Pool

Park Place RV Park

On Monday, Jan. 20th the day started out typically. Bill and Gibbs went out and Gibbs came back to bed with Mom. He has numerous toys, well, I should say ‘body parts’ of toys, on the bed and throughout the Suite. No, Michael, we haven’t taught him to put them back in the toy basket like Tango. 😊 So, he either goes back to sleep with me or chews on his loved ones.

Good morning!

I was up and out the door at 7:15, meeting Nancy for our walk. It was brisk and I can’t help but wonder how she can be warm? I’m layered up from a warm hoody, down jacket AND my poufy vest. Hood up, neck scarf and mini gloves. I need to be warm and she had her coat on. Complaints? None, we chatted the whole way and were back before we knew it.

Yup, another windy day is afoot

It was a chilly 37F/2.7C, with a clear sky and about a 1.5 mph wind. It was going to be a windy day again so another reason that I’m glad to get out early. When I returned, Bill was about ready to go to the big tent booth and I prepared to hop in the shower. He left around 8 this morning. Gibbs and I went for our walk, trying to catch up to Nancy and Cooper. His little legs can really prance along, we had to run!

At 9:15, I walked over with a Keurig pod and my mug with cream and Splenda to the clubhouse. Today, at Ladies Poker Pool we had 6 players until Bette arrived around 11 and joined in. They all love the game and the comradery of friends. Nancy were dragging the bottom by noon when we finished but we had fun all the same. 😊

My lunch today was hot and good

For lunch, I made chicken noodle soup from a Lipton’s packet and half of that filled me with some bread and peanut butter. I had popped the top down on the gazebo before I left for pool and it was a good thing. The winds increased mightily by then. Around 2:30 I went to start the puzzle and Nancy joined me before 3. We managed quite a bit and I don’t know about Nancy, but I came home hungry. See why?

We chose this puzzle today
I don't think it will take us long to finish.

Bill was home before 3:30 today; he and Tommy are taking turns with time off, which I think is great. Still no other real commitments from the club members to spell them off. Strange. He loaded a propane tank and went to get it filled before I returned home at 4. We watched some of Trump’s Inaugeration together and around 5:30, I started supper.

When we left the clubhouse, the winds
were really whipping from the north.
Gibbs didn't get an afternoon walk, just 'outings' as needed.

I turned the power back on, this has been another month of good sunny days for our panels, and used the convection oven. 😊 Pork chops, potatoes and a vegetable of choice were on the menu and everything turned out great. It was a good meal. After cleaning up, we watched more political tv, I finished my blog and then sat to relax for the evening.

Nancy and I should have tethered ourselves
together in that wind!

This has been a good day. Winds are reaching between 24 and 26 mph today but look to be dropping off overnight, back to normal. Only reaching 59F/15C (feeling cooler with the winds) was a disappointment but under sunny skies, we won't complain. It was -13C/8F back home today. Brrr!

Supper was good.
Good night!

Thank you for stopping in to see what we’re up to.

A Very Windy Friday

The Ridge

On Friday, June 17th Bill was up at 5:30 (or sooner) as he had to be in Mildmay for 7 am. I’d been dreaming but had a good sleep – as far as I remember! 😊 I read a comment on Facebook yesterday from a niece that I’ve only met once (she’s my oldest sister’s husband’s daughter). Anyway, she was in my dream along with my other sisters. Why Tammy was at Ladyfest is a mystery but it proves how strange our dreams can be and where the content comes from.

It was quite a nice morning but it was still
a short walk

I took my time getting up, although I briefly popped out of bed at 6:15 to kiss Bill goodbye, and then Gibbs and I went for a short walk out the lane and back. More evidence of turtles laying eggs only to be followed by Mr. Pepe Le Pew eating them. It is so sad sometimes, this nature thing, when one species is preventing another from surviving. I found 3 freshly disturbed nests and tossed the shells before Gibbs found them.

As I was leaving I got the picture
Too bad the truck wasn't turned more so
you could see the long sheltered laneway

A lovely private spot
Two houses, the one on the right is their studio

Bill and I talked about it later that it is only a blessing that Mama Yertle has no idea since she lays the eggs and moves on. At least we don’t think she is aware that this is happening after she leaves. So sad to us turtle lovers. After our walk, I drove into Durham to clean. I gathered up the clothes that were still in the washers and put them in the Lost & Found. I’m going to have to wash them down the road and take them to a donation centre again.

Back through the trees is a cottage style home
built, owned  and resided in by the previous property owners
children

I took an extra half hour today to scrape the parking lot clean of debris. Stones, gravel, sand, leaves and the cigarette butts that never seem to find a can. They latter went into the garbage but the debris was just pushed to the back of the lot into the bushes. It looks better even though I had to use a snow shovel to do it! 😊 It worked quite well! I left there and stopped at Foodland for some milk and butter before heading home.

After I finished my blog, it was 'Gibbs' time
He made sure of that!

Well, there have been Garage Sale signs for the past week and my nose (and Black Beauty) had to follow the signs back into a well-hidden property. What a lovely spot! I found 3 books (James Patterson), a gift for Donna and some purple stones for – something I’ll figure out down the road. They were pretty. We had a nice chat, the 2 owners and myself and when the conversation rattled around Arizona, this time I remembered to leave them one of our cards. 😊

While I cut grass, I was being
closely watched
No, his head isn't stuck.

Back home, I sat and finished my blog for yesterday and then placed an online order, had some lunch and we went outside to cut grass. I only cut the main area up here, it is enough considering it also involves moving the hammock, chairs and picnic table. Gibbs and I sat for a long time, just on the steps and then in a chair. The wind increased by the hour and yet it was deliciously warm! No complaints, the humidity seems to have dissipated. Cooler air is afoot.

He's putting on his most dejected look
I think
I see 'adorable'.💕

We came in when it was tea time, around 3:30, and it wasn’t long after that Bill came home. I’ve started a new book but only got a few pages read at this sitting. It is called The Little Giant of Aberdeen County by Tiffany Baker. It sounds good so I’ll keep you informed as I go along. There just doesn’t seem to be the same amount of time to read in my days lately. Between work, the puzzle and Gibbs, my plate is easily filled. No complaints except that I’m so far behind on blogs!

Except for the winds, it has been another
mixed bag day
Sun, blue skies, clouds, heat, cool
No sunset at all tonight, the clouds to the west
are too thick and gray
Notice the bend in the trees?

The flag is confused with which way to blow
My table cloth needed to be bungeed down
The clips kept blowing off. lol

For supper, we had (bclt’s) bacon, cheese, lettuce and tomato sandwiches. Toasted, of course. They were very good and when Bill went out to cut some of ‘his’ grass, I cleaned up and had a couple of scoops of ice cream. He’ll have his later, where I like to avoid eating after 7 if I can. 😊 The winds have not abated all day, gotten stronger if anything. We hope they calm before tomorrow, it's hard to fly planes in the winds! The temperature may have reached 21C/70F but have now dropped to 14C/58F at 7 pm.

Simple, delicious and filling
Bill had two 😋

Gibbs went upstairs to bed while I wrote today’s post. What a goof! Oh well, at least he isn’t laying across my laptop as he often does. Hint, hint for attention. ♥ This was a great day.

This little hummer loves the Corabelle

The hummers are not discouraged by the wind
at all
Nor are the finches. They sit on their feeder and
swing to and fro with it
A free carousel ride!

My sister-in-law had a personal operation in Cold Lake, Alberta this morning and the best news of the day is that she is doing well. Nothing upsetting to report so I’m feeling not only are we relieved and grateful but my little brother is flying high. ♥♥♥ Thank you, God for playing a part in all that.

Prayers for a quick recovery, Crystal!
You two are adorable! ♥♥
Good night!

Thank you to my readers for sticking around with me for another day too!

Hold onto Your Hats! The Game is On!

The Ridge

I didn’t hear it until 7:30 on Sunday, May 1st but once I took my ear plugs out, I heard the strong gusts of wind. I had another good sleep with only a couple of coughs through the night. We didn’t go for a walk this morning, I slipped into my lounging pj’s instead. That wind would not be fun out on the road. It was 7C/45F with a forecasted high of 13C/55F.

Duncan and Patty took a nice long walk down our
country road

There was nothing planned but Duncan and Bill dumped their gray water tank and then we stuck to ourselves. There was a bit of rain around 11 and since I hadn’t eaten, at 11:30 I got bacon and eggs out for brunch. It was the last of our bacon, good thing it lasts so long in the fridge. I have a pack in the small freezer but wanted to clean up the older bacon and the eggs.

Our trees are budding nicely

We were eating when we saw Duncan and Patty going for a walk. The rain had stopped and even though the wind was still strong, it felt warmer and bearable. When we saw them turn into the laneway, we all went out too. Bill wanted to show Patty inside his cargo trailer, all of his prized planes. 😊 Gibbs ran around, getting dirty in the mud edging the pond and trying to eat goose poop. I got tired of admonishing him so brought him up to his rope tether.

When he opened the back door, Patty's response was
"Wow, you've got to be kidding!"

He was very dirty and needed to dry off before coming inside. He needed a ‘bum’ wash so I put him in the sink and we took care of that right away. Bill ran the dishwasher earlier than normal because I’d emptied fridge dishes. We are ‘scraping’ bottom just in time. With Mr. Appliance coming in the morning with our mother board, we should be able to start restocking. Yay!

He's quite proud of all his planes

Around 2:30, we took our Double Series game over to the Eddie Bauer Airstream – our new neighbours. 😊 They had never played but since it is the only game Bill really enjoys playing, they were gung-ho to learn. It was 6 when we finally left. I felt bad that we might have over-stayed our welcome, the time went by so quickly. We are enjoying their company and cover a variety of subjects while playing the game. Duncan and I won 4 out of 7 games so we know there will be a rematch one day.

the sky was a mixed bag today

Tomorrow they leave for Meaford. They are staying in the pretty town for a week of fishing, meeting with some friends/family. They are pleased for our hospitality and we are pleased for their companionship. 😉 It works both ways! Back at the Suite, supper was leftovers reheated. Spaghetti for me and hamburger patties, dressing and corn for Bill. More empty dishes!

Does anyone know this dirty little pup?
He has discovered the muddy pond edges

He was a whole lot dirtier, you wouldn't
want a kiss from him the way he looked

Bill and I are both sniffling a bit and when I noticed that I have a rash around my neck and chest area, it indicates to me that I am on the better side of this cold. Whenever I get sick, which I have to admit is very rare, a kind of heat rash is the final closure. So, that’s good news! It will be gone by tomorrow. We all know our own bodies, don’t we?

I couldn't eat all of it but I made a
good try of it

We watched television together after 8 and I was in bed with Gibbs immediately following. We had a bit of rain today but nothing compared to what we all expected. The winds were crazy, 36 and 37 mph gusts but the temperature for most of the afternoon was on the mild side, nearing 12C/54F.

this was Bill's meal and the last of the burgers
Good night!

Another fabulous day and I hope yours was too! Thank you for your visit.

Still Here and Very Grateful, Groundhog Day

Park Place RV, Quartzsite, Az

On Wednesday, Feb. 2nd I couldn’t find anything out about any of the groundhogs, in Pennsylvania, Ontario or Nova Scotia and as I write this, we haven’t watched the evening news. My guess is that we’ll have 6 more weeks of winter either way. 😊 We woke to a windy day and it was 42F/5.5C when Gibbs and I went out for our first walk here.

I'll apologize now for a few of my pictures
being blurry
I'll blame it on the strong winds!

We went out the main gate, down the asphalt road and back into the park. Because of the cold wind, we slipped back in through a different entrance. In the southwest corner, I found the dog park that Nancy had told me was here. It is a nice size and Gibbs and I walked in to check it out. I didn’t remove his leash; I wasn’t planning on hanging around. Brrr.

A small laundry room but quite suitable

A comfy place to sit in the library
just down the hall

Also, plenty of books
I dropped off about 10 that we'd finished
so I hope someone else likes James Patterson!

There were a couple of tennis balls and a couple of stuffed, well-loved toys. Gibbs was more interested in sniffing them than playing. It was only a 20-minute walk and we returned home to the warmth of the Suite. After morning drinks, Bill had some toast and just before he left at 9:30, I walked the few steps to the laundromat in the Clubhouse. All 3 machines were empty so since I’d already sorted the clothes, carted them over and loaded 2 washers.

Bill pointed out the sunrise so I ran out to capture it

Bill had volunteered to help other flying club members begin set up for their Funfly and Swap Meet this weekend. I made the required trip back to swap the clothes into the dryer and then came back to clean. I vacuumed the floors, and even some of the high cabinet fronts with the long hose and washed the mirror in the bathroom on our closet doors. He walked over to help me fold the clothes and carried them back.

The dog park will be nice for Gibbs

By now, the winds had increased quite a bit and I quickly decided that I would not be taking Gibbs back to the dog park as originally planned. We all stayed inside other than taking Gibbs out and to take pictures of the dust and evidence of the winds. I worked on my afghan and Bill started a new J.P. book. Gibbs slept a lot, close by if not on our laps. 😊 Bill had to adjust our satellite dish after the winds jiggled all connection.

Gibbs sat at the window again, looking out
at something

or a special someone ♥
(look closely and you'll see who)

For supper, I reheated the hamburger ghoulash and dumplings. It was an easy ‘no prep’ meal and as leftovers often do, it tasted just as good tonight. Just before I began preparing supper, I realized that my blanket wasn’t looking as uniform as it should so I stopped crocheting and contacted Deb. “Help!” She did, bless her , and we went back and forth a bit about what I can do to check it before I go any further. I know they’re busy so I really appreciated her quick response. Fingers crossed that I don’t have to tear too much out.

I showed you a pix of the mountains yesterday
to the west
This is today's (blurred) view, no mountains
because of the dust

After Gibbs had his supper, I took him out around the park so I could capture the ‘almost’ sunset. 😊 Good enough! It was very cold so we rushed back home. After dishes, I focused on the blanket and we watched some tv together.

Evidence of the winds, all around us

People leave their sites for more than one day
and don't put things away
I don't quite understand that.

This is the community firepit area

I’ve picked up a Sue Grafton story but haven’t been able to get ‘attached’ yet, I will, so chose to keep my hands busy instead. The strong winds we are experiencing are forecasted to drop down around 8 pm so fingers crossed on that too.

Gibbs is laying on the bag with my yarn ball
As the ball unravelled, he'd open his eyes 😂

Interesting, the things we see, in a park
or in the desert
This is a 3-sided see through netted shelter ???

Yummy leftovers

This was a sunny day although the sky was not blue, fighting the dust. The mountains to the west did a disappearing act but became visible late afternoon around 4:30. I hope you didn’t get any ‘yeuchy’ weather today where you are.

I managed to also catch the sunset before
it dropped below the mountains
Good night everyone!

Thank you for stopping in for a visit. I appreciate all of your comments. 😊
