It was a few minutes past midnight
when Bill came up to the bedroom and woke me from a deep sleep. There was
exciting news! Baby Easton William exited the womb and joined the world at
11:53 pm, Mar. 11th. I was able to drop back into sleep after
memorizing the details. Now, after hearing that both baby and Mom are fine, we
are both grateful and happy.
Jess and Easton |
The next thing I knew, it was 6:30 on
Tuesday, Mar. 12th and Bill had already risen. That guy is going to
be tired today! The weather is wet and dreary looking although quite mild at
59F. The winds are low but it doesn’t matter, it is an inside day today for
sure. Last night, Bill and I ate the small pan of cheesecake sans crust and it
tasted pretty good. I didn’t have cherries or strawberries to put on it but it
was good all the same.
Meet Easton William 7 lbs. 11 oz. wondering what took so long! |
I couldn’t walk this morning so we
read a few blogs and went back and forth with siblings, Bill’s stepmom
spreading the news and then Jess to see how they were doing. A wee setback with
Easton having difficulty breastfeeding and low sugar so he is on IV for a short
while today. They’ll keep an eye on him, the great news is that there is no
diabetes. Around 8, Bill and I were both dragging already so decided another
nap was in order.
And then little chubby cheeks went to sleep I think he might be a leftie, notice the hand again |
All 3 of us crawled back into bed for
just over an hour. When I got up, I slipped back to Texas Hall for the
advertised Adult Craft and to check out the puzzle. Bill was still sleeping
soundly. Pat joined me and Barry (Berry? Bari?) had little birdhouse kits for
us to put together and paint. She had thought they would be a good ‘kid’s
craft’ until she noticed the little nails. Unfortunately, the nails were too
big for the small pieces of soft wood but we made a darn good attempt anyway.
Pat and I at craft class |
At the end, we each got a new kit and
came home to glue it together. Barry left her paints out for us so we could
utilize them later today. Rob has wood glue that we can use to build our
birdhouses. Hey, it’s a rainy-day activity. Maybe we should paint our pieces
first. Hmmm. Back home, Bill was up and I made us some bacon and eggs for
breakfast/brunch. The rain turned from mist to some steady showers. The creek
water should be rising and the grass will remain green.
We brought a new kit home |
I glued it together back home |
I didn’t waste any time, since I
didn’t want to start a new book and my crocheting was done for the moment. I
got out my craft glue gun (that I forgot I had until I saw it) and glued the
wood pieces together. Voila! I took it next door to see if Pat wanted to glue
hers and then go to the hall to paint it with Barry’s paints and brushes. She
had different plans for hers, wanting to wait until she got back home, so I
took mine and added colour. I’m not a painter but I had fun and spent a good
hour and a half finishing it off.
There were a lot of paints and brushes to choose from |
When I returned home, I made a cup of
tea and Bill wanted a hot chocolate. It was only 2 o’clock so I may be getting
into a book after all. Needing a nibble, I made a batch of popcorn for a snack.
Naturally, as soon as we sat down to enjoy them Clemson gets up and wants to go
for a walk. I finished my tea and because it wasn’t raining, out we went. I do
believe that little pooch thinks he is our child. He ran through most of the
puddles. 😊 (and mostly, I let him)
Not talented by any means but I tried to paint a barn quilt on the little house |
After we returned home, not only his
feet needed wiping but his tummy did too! The rest of the afternoon was quiet,
watching some tv, Bill and Clemson snoozed again and we chatted with Rob and
Pat for a little while. Rob came over at one point and he and I set up a ‘Dairy
Queen date’. We tease back and forth a lot but this is something we agree on!
Maybe tomorrow we’ll take advantage of the DQ Blizzard special.
I thought I'd leave a note for Bary when I left |
For supper, I cooked spaghetti and
warmed up turkey and pork meatballs in sauce. Well, my spaghetti cooker cooked
the spaghetti. Nice and easy by pouring boiling water over the noodles.
Everything tasted good and there is enough left over for a second meal. We
cleaned up dishes and by 6 we were ready to call a couple we’d met 3 years ago
while ‘working’ the London rv show. You just never know what kind of influence
you have and it was a treat to chat with Bob and Joanne from Tavistock.
There are always lots of questions
when one is setting out on the rv’ing path and Bill was happy to answer as many
as he could in the course of the hour-long conversation. We are looking forward
to meeting up with them once we are back home. The evening went well with some
more television programs. Tuesday night, prime time for us. Tonight, we delved
into the IP cheesecake to see if there was any reason to cook it that way in
the future.
Supper was good |
I hope you have enjoyed your day! It
is interesting to note that our high today got to 67F and most of that heat
arrived in the last 2 hours. The wind storm forecasted for this afternoon
missed us and we got nothing over 7 mph all day.
Congrats all the way around on Baby Easton!!! He's a cutie.
