The Ridge
On
Monday, Apr. 14th I woke around 6:30 and after hugs and
kisses from Gibbs, and my routine stretches, I got up and made the
bed. I wouldn't be able to start my day without those wet kisses,
don't you know? ♥ Bill was already downstairs emptying the
dishwasher and having his breakfast. It was first day to clean so I
got washed, made my to-go tea and left for town.

Good morning! |
It was a wet morning, with a few rain showers around 5:30, according to Bill. There were spatters on Ptooties but it was done by the time I left around 7:30. I knew yesterday that the Mat was in pretty decent condition and today wasn't much different. All those customers seemed to clean up after themselves. Bonus!

It's not a clear picture but yes, Chippy is here. 😉 |
Beginning the season, I did the whole routine, including the big dryer lint, so I know it is clean right off the bat. I think Ron must have done a good job on Saturday as there were no surprises. Sandy hadn't left a desktop calendar for me to record my hours, so I started a log in his note pad on the desk. He doesn't look at the calendar anyway and goes by what I tell him at the end of the month.

The winds are from the west. Those clouds looked threatening much of the morning. |
Back home, Bill was hard at it. Our big clock over the key/coat cupboard right inside the door needed to be secured better so he had it down and was just finishing up when I walked in. Things sure do shake around when traveling down the highways. Keeping on top of the things we notice over the years helps keep the Suite in 'tip top' (well almost) shape. It is 10 years old already, hard to believe.

Before lunch, a snooze took place upstairs. |
After
lunch, I drove around the corner to help M fill out an application
that assists him with some of his bill payments. I gathered all the
necessary paperwork and will take it in to the library for faxing in
the next day or two. Bill went to the Hangar, the day was turning out
better than the forecast led us to believe for today. That's great!

On security duty for Daddy |
I chose to purge the cupboards over the sofa, there are a couple of face boards on the shelves that need to be re-affixed. With that done, Gibbs and I went outside to get some fresh air. I checked the mail, Gibbs waited on Daddy's doorstep, and then when I began clipping trees and crappy brush over the east hill to the pond, the little bum joined me and supervised from the step.

Woops! Sleeping on the job |
I'm happy to have that started and to me, it made a huge difference even if you can't see it in the picture. I half carried and half dragged the 3 loads over to the brush pile and by then Bill had come up and it was time for supper prep. Tacos tonight! Yay! I love them and I'm so pleased that Bill enjoys them too. They didn't disappoint.

So, I didn't get a before picture but trust me, there are a lot of little trees and red viny brush no longer here. We want to see the pond and now is the time to cut back. |

This picture is looking down towards the lane and it will be my next project. It is overtaking the area. I need to pick up some new long handled clippers, mine are damaged and a challenge. |

I may pay for this tomorrow but I was feeling energetic and anxious to get some cleaned out before tomorrow's snowfall. |
We're keeping an eye on our water consumption because of the predicted weather tomorrow, yeuchy, so we did the dishes by hand. We reached a beautiful sunny high of 18.3C/65F this afternoon and that was with some pretty serious wind gusts. Well, 32 mph, gusty enough up here!

Together again |
NCIS and NCIS Origins are on tonight so will take me to my bedtime. This has been a great day. I was in some discomfort for most of the morning but working outside seemed to have helped ease things up for me. I'll just take each day as it comes and work through it.

The tacos were delicious Good night! |
I hope you enjoyed some sunshine today too! We've got rain coming overnight and then more of the white stuff tomorrow and Wednesday morning. Who loves April now?
Thank you for popping in.
I know the bushes of which you speak. It's a lot of hard work trimming all the overgrowth. Glad Chippy is still around!! Hoping the snow stays away!
ReplyDeleteI hate those red bushes even though the colour is pretty.
DeleteI knew you'd like to see Chippy.
The April Roller Coaster of weather changes. It gets better by the end of May.
ReplyDeleteThe shears that you need are the long-handled Bypass Shears. They'll make quick work of cleaning that, better than Anvil Shears.
The Ridge is starting to look like Home again.
You might be wise to have your own calendar to log your hours worked, giving you a good reference.
Stay Safe and Enjoy!
It's about time.
After today and tomorrow, we'll be seeing some warmth - by the end of April is when we can expect spring according to our forecasts.
DeleteI do have the long handled shears but they are falling apart.
I also have my own calendar, on my phone. Sandy trusts me implicitly, with good reason. :)
You already picked up where you left it, with work around the property and your other chores. Hope you get to enjoy and relax a bit too being home.
ReplyDeleteThank you Marlene. Yes, lots of time to do my own thing. :)
DeleteWe had tacos on Monday - they were good, but not entirely authentic. I'm remembering the fish tacos I had in Yuma, now those were very good. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm eager to get out in the yard too, maybe this afternoon. I need to start moving rocks around and cleaning up the remains of last year's growth on the peonies. I hope you're not feeling too sore today.
I love tacos and yet they are not authentic either. You know what? I prefer my kind over those in Mexico. Sssh!
DeleteThank you, no soreness today!
