What a Mixed up Day

The Ridge

On Friday, Apr. 25th Bill and Gibbs were up at 6, as usual, and I didn't crawl out until 7, as usual. We are certainly more predictable than April's weather! I didn't have anything on my plate today, although I did have a couple of flexible things I wanted to do.

Good morning!
These were last night's sky pictures.
So pretty!

After Bill left for work, I had my tea and lazed until shortly before 10. It was a clear sky to start, within 15 minutes of my getting in motion, it was clouding over. Bill said we could get rain later today, and possibly a thunder storm. It was back and forth all day but very little rain fell, yet enough to have Gibbs up the steps to the door. He hates getting wet from above.

This is from my garden up on the berm.
I think this is quite pretty too,
the grass is really greening up.

I drove to Robin's first and put her mail inside and carried into town to peruse some of the thrift stores. A new one, that I hadn't yet been in, said OPEN but it wasn't. Apparently, tomorrow is opening day. A fellow washing windows said she was 'supposed to be open all week' but never showed up. Duh, that will be interesting, eh?

Someone was supposed to be helping me
sort through clothes. Hmmm.
Sleeping on the job.💖

I drove further downtown, just past the lights, and went in to see Laurie at Going Once, Going Twice. I poked around and found a couple of small things, $2.50 worth. Then across the street to Rethreads where I found some card envelopes that she offered to me for Free. I would use these for the greeting cards I plan on making. Bonus!

Time to secure the property.

Back home, Gibbs and I were able to get for a wee bit and we checked on my onions up on the hill and prided myself on my rhubarb haul from yesterday. The wind had us returning inside, Gibbs doesn't hesitate when it is that windy either. I went upstairs and went through my closet again, our exchange is on May 3rd. I had a supervisor, although it was quite boring for him. Sleepyhead!

He did actually walk down to
'get the mail' with me again today.
I'm surprised, last fall he got lazy.

I had my plate of goodies for lunch, like yesterday, and by then Gibbs was outside again. When I saw the mail lady not only stop at the mailbox, but start up the lane, I coaxed him inside. It was a package for Bill, no sign of mine, yet. He always gets his quicker than it is expected.

Not daffodils, these are my first
flowering plants this spring.
Pretty primrose.

I got out my quilling and started on a couple of cards for a July event. I cut up some card paper that I bought in Quartzsite to fit into the envelopes I just purchased.

The drive into Durham around
5:30. A nice evening, no jackets required.

Bill got home around 3:30 and while he and Gibbs dozed in his chair, I carried on with my hobby. It was Friday night so we skipped supper and went to the Curling Club shortly after 5:30. Tonight, we decided on having a drink with the rest of them. Our tickets weren't called again but we met a handful of new people. Now, to remember all their names. Even the West Grey mayor and his wife, all very nice people.

Our simple Friday night meal.

Today reached a mild 19C/67F and it was a pretty nice day, all in all. We'll be getting some rain through the wee hours of the morning, again, and all day tomorrow with a 20 degree drop in temperature, again. LOL We're so ready to say 'so long' to April, aren't we?

A lovely quote.
Good night!

Thank you for stopping around.

  1. Don't you just love seeing the plants grow and bloom? So lucky you have some little boutiques to check out. Nothing like that around here.

    1. Yes, I do! Durham will have 4 second hand stores but 2 are consignment so iffy pricing.

  2. We're starting to see green, especially in the front flower bed. I'm looking forward to digging in the dirt too. :)
The end of April can't come too soon.

  3. From the way your new Premier is going, might not be a bad idea to think about a new place to spend next winter. China, maybe?

  4. My columbines are pushing through the soil as well as the tulips. My cherry trees have buds and I think the pear tree will be covered in blossoms this year. I am keeping my fingers crossed that we do not get a late frost to kill what could be a lovely year of tree blossoms.
    Love your primrose.

    God bless.
