Looks Can be Deceiving, Even in Weather

The Ridge

On Tuesday, Apr. 22nd, there wasn't even a hope for a calm day. The winds were strong yesterday and so were expected again on this day. There was hope for some sunshine and that is always encouraging. I was up by 7 and out the door at 7:30. Today's Mat cleaning was fairly easy, no unsettling messes to add to this story.

Good morning!

I did meet an interesting lady who, from various circumstances, is currently living in her van. She remembered me from last summer/fall so we re-acquainted and exchanged phone numbers. Her situation is temporary but because I couldn't comfortably offer her a place to park at this stage, I decided to let things alone, she's happy where she is.

Back home before 9, I sat with Bill and Gibbs until it was time to go around the corner and pick M up for his run into town. We made 5 stops and an hour and a half later I was pulling up the lane. Bill had an appointment in Markdale, which is about 15 minutes from home, and he took Ptooties rather than Black Beauty when he left at 12:15. I had a grilled cheese and ham sandwich for lunch on sour dough bread.

It's his favourite spot,
what can I say?

The sun has been winning over the clouds this afternoon and it really is deceiving when you look out. It appears to be warm at 10C/50F but trust me, that wind gusting between 10 and 15 mph makes it feel colder. Now, in a sheltered area, the sun would be quite lovely but up here, not yet!

Sound asleep up on the bed

Bill went to the Hangar when he returned before 2 and I sat inside with my book. I finished all of the quilled projects I had started so decided to read more of my Armand Gamache story in Montreal. It is quite good and keeps the pages turning. Gibbs stretched out up on the bed and when I made my tea, he went out to secure the property. Not just ours, Dot's also, since it is in full view for him.

When Bill came up from the Hangar,
they had their snooze, side by side.

For supper, we had baked pork chops, Bill had potatoes and corn and I had cauliflower and corn with mine. It was very good. Hopefully, the weather will change so we can barbecue more frequently for change up to our meals. We cleaned up dishes and Bill made his lunch. Yup, back to work tomorrow for a full day. It's bittersweet, just as the temperatures heat up, he is gone from the Ridge for the day.

My supper plate
Delicious!

This was a nice day. More hours on my payroll and although a quiet indoor afternoon, it was a quiet indoor afternoon! It warmed up more than expected today so we are continuing to be hopeful.

A cold night 2C/35F so our blue flame
heater will keep us warm.
Good night!

Thank you for stopping by.

  4. Today hasn't been too bad. We managed to get up to 14C in town, and there was very little wind for a change. After our last snowfall I am looking forward to better weather.
    Gibbs looks very comfortable.

    God bless.

  5. Cutie Gibbs. It has been cool and windy here too. Warming up soon, I think. Probably good you didn't offer the homeless woman a place to park.
