Some Rain, Some Sneaky Stuff

The Ridge

On Thursday, Apr. 24th we were both up by 7, me and my shadow being the last. He is only my shadow sometimes though, when bedtime is involved and when Daddy isn't home. Usually. Now that his Daddy is going off to work again, Mom moves up in rank.

Good morning!
The sky was pretty dark in the direction
Bill was driving.

I left the Suite at 7:15 or so and went in to clean the Mat. It was an odd morning, with threats of some rain before 8. We didn't get any overnight as forecasted so may pay for that today. Bill left for work at 7:30 and when I noticed such dark skies in his direction, thought it might be an 'iffy' day for them.

This is #4.
I had to pick her up and carry her across.

While cleaning, it rained over Durham and was still spitting when I left town. I'm not complaining, at least it has warmed up and I was able to wear just a hoody. Yay! On the way back home, I stopped at Robin's to retrieve her mail and put the $$ she was paid for the mirror in her home. I'll keep an eye each day, she gets a lot of mail because of all her properties.

Bill said they didn't get much at all
But our skies were still overcast
dropping rain every so often

Back home, it was too dull of a day to even imagine a clearing later on. That meant find something to do indoors. Since we were on the last couple of the keto cowboy cookies (obviously we loved them), I thought I'd make another batch. They are easy to make and I have all the ingredients always on hand. Woops, I just used the last 2 eggs though.

A batch of 50 cookies.
They are even better than the first ones. ♥

For lunch, I made a cold plate of a few things I had and added some fried zucchini slices. It was good! When the clouds finally appeared to be moving on, Gibbs and I went outside. I went up to my original garden spot and began digging an area of about 2' x 3', loosening up the soil and removing and weed roots and any big rocks. It was in pretty good shape from when I used it last.

This was good, I may need to duplicate it

This came in an email from my friend,
Jim.
I had to laugh but hope I'm doing
better than this!

Then I took a large pail and the spade across our back field, through the fence into the neighbours property. After the rain, I was hoping for an easy dig so I could retrieve some rhubarb plants. I didn't think they'd be missed, there is quite a bit and it is obvious that much was wasted last summer. I know it will take maybe a year before I get anything but it is worth a shot. My plants here at the Ridge are still very small. Don't tell anyone!

There it is. Gibbs'
dilemma of jumping up.
He's thinking too much and I'll
have to lift him.
We think he fell once when we
weren't here and is now timid.

I planted them in my small garden with Gibbs running around supervising. As soon as I crashed on the grass, the little lovebug wasted no time crawling in between my legs to cuddle. ♥ The rest of our afternoon was outside, just enjoying the bird songs and the occasional clear sky. I did unplug from power and turn the inverter on.

He actually walked (very slowly) down to
get the mail. On the way back, he was
running and playing in the water.
He is just like a little kid.

Bill came up the lane around 4 and went in and changed and had a cat nap. I stayed outside and read my book. It is a thick book with lots of twists but I'm really enjoying it. Bill grilled his bacon cheeseburgers for supper and since I'd inadvertently skipped my after tea, I was so hungry that I might have been able to eat two!

From the neighbours messy
yard, looking over to ours.
Nice and green!

We had a cookie for dessert and that did the trick, filling me. The sky is mostly blue with a light smear of clouds across it. If you are able to, don't forget to try and see the 'smiley face' Moon-planet alignment tomorrow morning. I doubt I'll be up at 5:30 and I doubt we'd see it from here anyway. Still interesting to those of you who can!

I'm kapooped and apparently
it is time to snuggle. ♥

Let's hope I get a big patch of healthy
rhubarb one day!
In the top corner of the garden, my
Egyptian Walking Onions survived the winter. ♥

We reached a lovely 20C/69F by mid afternoon today and only dropping to 10C/50F overnight. I wish I could say that will be the norm from now on, but I can't. The roller coaster continues to a certain extent. Oh well, still above freezing. This was a great day.

Tasty burger!
It's going to be a lovely sunset, I think,
so I will have to post it in the morning.
Good night!

Thank you for the visit!

  2. Rhubarb tends to spread as it grows, though it does take a couple of years to be established. I told my daughter we're going to have to find a space to grow it here too.
    Enjoy the warmer weather!

  3. They say when one transplants rhubarb not to pick for a year. I keep looking at ours and see nothing as of yet. Seems pretty slow this year. Your lunch looks very nice.

    God bless.
