More Clean Up, Good Advice, Memories ♥

The Ridge

On Wednesday, May 7th I was up at 7 and down with Bill before he left for work at 7:30. I slept well, don’t even recall if I dreamt until just before I woke up and that one had Gibbs in it. That’s rare! It is a very foggy morning, enough that had to admonish my sweetie to drive carefully on the roads.

Good morning!
Wasn't last night's sunset a beauty?

When I finished my tea, I decided to take some advice from a commenter on a previous blog post. I read all comments and often answer them right away. Some ideas and suggestions are not necessary, others are great to check out and then there are those that are common sense and I can’t believe I didn’t think of them! 😊 Anyway, do not be offended if your idea is not something I choose to follow.

This was what this morning
looked like.

This one was about the mosquito hat. Well, I have to admit to having one already, we both do. They are quite old and although work pretty good, they are not quite the same as the newer versions. I find it hard to keep the screening tucked in unless I’m  buttoned up like a uniformed officer. The new ones have a draw string AND a small zippered slit for drinking through. Brilliant!

Peanut butter cookies
Keto, of course.

So, I went online and found a great deal, ordering both Bill and I new ones. I think my old one even has a hole in it, not sure. I also ordered a couple of other things, one being a pack of 24 1gram carb tortillas! I need to have something to switch up for lunch since the bread thing isn’t working out. 😊

With that done, on Bill’s laptop so I could get free Prime shipping, I decided to make a batch of cookies. These I’ve made before, successfully I might add, and both Bill and I enjoyed them. I can make them into sandwich p.b. cookies with the filling or keep them single and they’ll last longer. 😊 Hmmm.

So, I donned my hats, the ball cap
keeps the mosquito hat in place.
Gibbs checking out the hill again.

Then, after a cookie for lunch, I’d been taste-testing since I started, Gibbs and I went out to clean up what Bill cut yesterday.

At least I used my own brain today and put on my blackfly hat! I was zipped up, yes, like the officer, but at least they couldn’t get in at me. Every time I took a break and sprawled on the grass, Gibbs came to sit with me. Maybe he was checking on my well-being.

Gibbs was a big help.
See the branch he carried up?

There were 3 more wagon loads from up on this hill before I started down by the Hangar. After a considerable break, Gibbs and I walked for the mail and I brought all the branches up from along the lane.

I feel better, even though it may not look different. There is so much we’d like out of there! It was 2:30 and I was done like dinner. The sun has been making appearances all afternoon so I’ve unplugged from power to take advantage of the solar but when you stop working, the breeze is still cool.

We lost Kathy to heart complications
in March of 2021 and I still feel a hole
in my heart when I see Derrick.
When we lived in London, we went back and forth every
month to each other's homes for dinner. πŸ’”

While sitting, I went into old blog postings, from way back in 2016 and 2017 to see more pictures of what the Ridge looked like closer to the Suite before all this grew up. I haven’t pinned any down yet but I did find some wonderful memories. This is why I write. Not because I’ve forgotten these good times, but because it brings me joy, sometimes tearful joy.

The drive to Hanover was cloudy

Bill was home by 4:35 and I had showered and was dressed for our supper out. This was the sibling birthday/our anniversary meal that was postponed last Thursday because one of the birthday boys was sick. We drove to Hanover and Gerry drove from there to Mildmay, another 20 minutes.

One of the best pizzas I've had and
it's keto! (Silly Al's aside)

The birthday boys.
John and Gerry

We met with Cathy, Bill, Gayle and John at Harley’s Pub & Restaurant at 6. Bill and I ordered a Caesar and I think Bill D ordered a drink as well. Everyone went with water or iced tea. This was our anniversary dinner so wanted to celebrate. 😊

Cathy, Bill, John

I ordered a Chicken Caesar Pizza (w/cauliflower crust) and it was the best choice! OMGoodness! Delicious! I brought 3 pieces home because I was full and will have them this week for my lunch. We were hom by 8:15 and immediately turned Survivor on. While everyone else was going home to watch the hockey game, we watched the reality show.

There will be another nice sunset tonight

Much prettier coming home

Today reached 15C/59F but it sure cooled down quickly after 3 pm. Overnight’s low will be 2C/36F and one more night of that and we should be in the clear. Hahahaha, where have we heard that before? Out of our own mouths! Oh well, we’ll take what we get and be grateful. We saw sunshine today!

Someone missed his Daddy and loves
the attention

Time for his disappearing act.
Under my chair blanket he went.

This was a great day and we're making more memories.

  2. Your cookies look delicious ... and a fun night out. Pizza is always a plus!! I hate biting bugs, and luckily I don't have many here. Yet for the first time in probably 15 years, we have mosquitos. Thankfully no-see-ums only show up here in very dry conditions.

    1. The cookies turned out great. Yay! These black flies are nasty and the bites are worse than mosquitoes, stick around for days. Thankfully, they are only around for about 2 weeks.

  4. It is nice to go back through the blog posts of the past and see where one was in life, and remember the places and people we've met. Even those bittersweet memories.
Your pizza looks delicious even though I'm not sure I'd like a cauliflower crust. I'll take your word for it. :)

    1. It is nice to be able to peruse our lives this way. ♥
As for the cauliflower crust, you can't tell the difference, honest! It is thin like many regulars are now anyway. My sister tried it last night and agreed with me. :)

  6. I’ve often thought you were the best memory keeper. A couple nights ago we had actual rain for hours ( even thunder!) and a little bit overnight last night. …now the temps are on the rise. Wishing you days of sunshine!! Patti
